Hope APC can float in water...

GTA 4 TBOGT has an APC which does bring back the whacky san andreas style.

But what I hate it is that the dam thing sink in the water instead of floating it. THE TYRES ARE f*ckING BIG SINCE THERE IS ALOT OF AIR INSIDE SHOULD HAVE FLOAT THE DAM WATER!!!!!!

Many APCs are amphibious. Usually tracked APCs are powered by their tracks in the water, and wheeled APCs have propellors or water jets. Preparations for amphibious operations usually comprises checking the integrity of the hull and folding down a trim vane in front. Swimming required fairly still waters, and good entry and exit points. Speed in water is typically 3–6 km/h.

Armour on APCs are usually composed of simple steel or aluminium, sufficient for protection against small fire arms and most shell fragments. Just about any type of anti-tank weapon can defeat the armour of an APC. Some APCs also come with NBC protection, which would protect its crew from radioactive fallout or the like.

The usual armament for an APC can vary from a 12.7 (.50") or 14.5 mm heavy machine gun to a 30 mm automatic cannon (though an autocannon is usually enough to consider it an IFV). This is mounted on top of the vehicle, either on a simple pintle mount, sometimes with a gun shield, or a small turret or Remote Weapon System (as on the Stryker). Sometimes an automatic grenade launcher is used instead. APCs such as the BTR-90 also have the capability to launch ATGM, which gives it an anti-tank capability.

Hope this thing floats in GTA 5 ,Rockstar u suck at APC realism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry for my bad english

yeah but that doesn't have big tyres so it won't float. sad.gif

No reason not to add it, although I wouldn't really mind if they didn't since I hardly spend any time at all on/in the water in GTA.

There's a thing called a boat.

1. A boat can't drive on the road.

2. You can't get a boat in a lake unless you cheat or it spawns there.

3. Boats are boring...

And when the APC hits the water, essentially becoming a boat, but going really slow, it will also be really boring.

Well then why not, it does all that the boat does but it can also go on the road. whatsthat.gif

What's the point of boats now??? In 3 and Vice City were the last two good GTA's to use boats. We got jets and helicopters that people don't really even use boats.

because in multiplayer you'd always have at least five idiots that drive it around downtown spamming grenades at everybody.. that + attack choppers in the sky doing the same.. sorta ruins it.

Rare Echelon

Considering that the real life APC from TBOGT (the Gage V100 Commando) has amphib capabilities, it's a little suprising the feature wasn't added, however novel it may be for a GTA game.

I think the Yanks use an armoured vehicle similar to our Kiwi LAV's, the LAV-25 that the Marines use, which can ford water at 10 km/h IIRC. With some evidence suggesting a military element in V, I reckon a vehicle of this type would be a welcome addition.

i don't understand why someone says San Andreas is whacky...i mean its not like we're talking about Saints Row and its exaggerated stuff, erverything in San Andreas makes complete sense, maybe aside from infinite Jetpack... confused.gif

Hovercraft from San Andreas was pretty fun

No need to double post icon14.gif .

I too would like to see the Vortex return, possibly even a Vortex GT? Maybe like one of those enormous cross-Channel Hovercrafts.

In that thread you do not very often get an response to your wish or whatever you would like to call it and I for one do not like to look through 20 pages to find something I would find an interest in. I much rather have a wish topic be posted as a thread and I see it on the featured threads page. Also it is much funnier for the thread maker to get an response then nothing. But ofcours wishes like, I would like a pet in GTA V should not have there own thread.

That thread is for, and let me quote from Ryan, things that can be explained in one sentence. This, however, can not be.

Do remember speaking from a Law Enforcement prospective APC's are used in High Profile Situations i.g. hostage, barricaded, suicidal, etc etc. They are also used to transport SWAT teams to and from scenes. Not all APC's are amphibious, nor do you see them driving through lakes, beaches, or rivers for that they would use boats such as the: dinghy.

That's just my 2 cents though.

First thing I done on TBOGT was drive in the water with one, it floated for a few seconds and I got excited because it thought it was floating then I started to die. confused.gif

First of all , this is GTA not ARMA II , don't expect 100% realism from the military vehicles in the game.

The Cadillac Gage Commando(which the TBoGT APC is based on) can only go like 3mph on the water. Not very exciting.

I'd imagine the main reason for APC not floating would be either for balance reasons or the developers at Rockstar just didn't think of it.

I'm taking it that you have not taken the WEIGHT into account, a heavilly armoured truck aint going to float no matter about the tyres.

Thats like getting mad over throwing a rock in the water and wondering why it didnt float

EDIT:Was going to remove this post cause upon thinking of what i wrote, its pretty stupid, ill leave it here anyway notify.gif

Forget floating APCs, I'd rather have a submarine.

Amphibious vehicles don't float because of air in tires. They float because they are watertight and shaped to displace water. A ship can be steel and large and massive (and carrying heavy guns) and will float if it is watertight and the right shape.

http://science.howstuffworks.com/science-v...question254.htm

The APC sinks realistically if it is either not watertight or the wrong shape. The tires won't do a thing because they don't displace enough water relative to the size of the vehicle.

Let's clear it up. R* doesn't design ANYTHING that ressembles only 1 car/tank/apc/building, whatever. They make it scrambled, tho it looks pretty natural. APC we had in TBoGT wasn't designed for amphibious purposes. Why would a city police have an amhibious APCs? It's only useful for military purposes. And besides, the tires couldn't just keep this thick armored monster afloat. Neither would the spinning wheels give enough power for it to have even 5-10 km/h speed in water.
