canadatim39
Hi everyone: I have had an issue with my GTA 4. I recently purchased it through steam. I know it has been asked before but that was in 2009 and was a retail. I have heard that this was because the game is pirated. But i purchased it through steam. And i can not access the computers in the internet cafe. Nor can i put in a disc cause I don't have one. Everything else like the hot dog stands and the vending machines all works. Just the internet cafe. I have a HD car pack with modified vehicle ide and modifed handling.dat with a simple trainer and a taxi bug patch. I am running gta 1.0.7.0. I have searched the web but i still cant find a fix for this problem. and if anyone can help please help. Thank you!

Prometheus
Luck of the irish I'm not sure, but can you remove the mods and try it?
Spider-Vice
You did remove the pirated version completely didn't you? This is one of the anti-crack measures of the game and it's pretty odd it's happening on a Steam version, the mods might not have to do with it but to be safe remove them as suggested. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Spider-Vice
Then I guess you should try reinstalling the game completely, you won't lose your savegames because the installer prompts you whether you want to keep them or not. That should fix it I guess? let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! mkey82
The usual fix for this is to have the game reactivated. However, I'm not sure how would you do that through steam, as it activates the game automatically. One thing I would try before downloading the whole thing again is to make a copy of the GTAIV installation folder (that's after removing all mods) and then choose to uninstall the game from steam. Close steam and restore the game folder (if you named the folder before "grand theft auto iv - copy" just rename it to "grand theft auto iv"), restart steam and have it download GTAIV again. Steam will get it that you have most files present and will only maybe download some files and activate the game for you.
