cannot start gta iv- problem with DFA

Well, I am german and I bought GTA IV last week using amazon.de. I received it last wednesday.

 

Installation was no problem so far. I installed the latest patch so that I don't have to use Rockstar Social to start the Game. Unfortunately, the game won't start when I'm using the "gtaiv.exe". It keeps me saying there is a problem with DFA (was not initialised correctly). It tells me to use the "LaunchGTAIV.exe" but that doesn't work either. If I hit "start game" or "start game (offline)" nothing happens. There's now just an icon for 'Rockstar games social club' in the systemtray.

 

If I open the login of the 'Rockstar games social club' using this Icon, I can finally reach the button 'play'. But again, the 'Rockstar games social club'-windows arrives and after I click "start game" or "start game (offline)" nothing happens. There's a little circle around the mouse for a few seconds but that's it. I even have registered at the 'RGSC' but that did not change anything. It seems that the verification of my account works but I am still not able to load the game.

 

I've searched google and tried everything, even a complete uninstallation and new installation. Keeps the same, I cannot start the game at all.

 

What have I tried?

 

(1) Registration and installation of RGSC and 'Games for windows live' including registration

(2) reinstallation and new installation

(3) Install latest german patch

(4) had the problem with the xlive.dll . After Installing 'Games for windows live' it is as it stands above

(5) set all the .exe files to start the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

 

My system:

Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1

4 GB RAM

Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT

Drivers should be newer than the game

 

Help!!!!!!!!!! I spend some € 20 on it and I really want to play it because it's an awesome game.

Remove all the compatibility settings and make sure to install these

 

Patch 7

GFWL update

installed it. At least the login to the social club is now working .

 

But still nothing happens when I try to start the game even if I use Administration rights.

 

Does it work better on Windows XP? I do have the possibility to run XP oder XPx64 on the same machine, just need to install it alongside Windows 7.

 

What shall I do?

Try using xliveless to bypass any RGSC/GFLW problems.

If you have any disk imaging tools, like daemon tools, you'll want to uninstall it.

Also, make sure to install the vc++ libraries from the game disk, there should be an installer, along with direct x and other third party installers. The file name should be vc_setup.exe or something of the likes.

 

I doubt this is windows 7 related.
