ccrogers15
I am wondering how long R* can 'milk' the gta cow. Maybe its an endless cow. Look at activision and call of duty. Call of duty games are all almost the same. Thats why cod mw3 got the nickname: "Cod: Just as modern as before 3". And with activision they also have the new spyro cow. Spyro is now skylanders, and that crap sells like theres no tomorrow. Seriously. Rockstar will milk GTAs never ending udders until there dry. That goes for there other IP`s. Im 100% sure they will announce sequels to other IP`s at gamescom. Like bully 2 and agent for instance.
Vin89
Then they would be really really really stupid doing so. Won't happen, no point in discussing.
wwinterj
That's where Agent comes in. Here's what I'm thinking the plan is, Agent hopefully recreates the success GTAIII had on PS2 by being an early PS4 game and then it gradually takes over from GTA and to compensate we get one huge GTA before next gen finishes. Doubt it. If anything R* will build upon the series they already have such as Red Dead. Who know though?
Spider-Vice
Agent will be nowhere as "famous" as GTA and won't take it over. From what we know of Agent it's not supposed to be an open world game, it's even set in the Cold War according to the press release. GTA will still have lots of years of life, new ideas always appear. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Exkabewbikadid
As soon as GTA is gone, someone will come and do it even better. I'm not worried; if Rockstar doesn't innovate, others will. Eh, no one has come along and beat them at their own game yet, so I'm having my doubts that'll ever be the case. For one, GTA has a certain quality of humor and satire that no one outside of Rcokstar is going to be able to successfully emulate. Simply put, GTA will continue to thrive as its popularity has grown exponentially over the last decade. Only when it's no longer popular and no longer profitable will it end. But this is the kind of game that can continue to grow and evolve endlessly. Just when you think there isn't much left they can do with it, they'll come back with an innovative new approach that'll blow our minds all over again. .dre.
I doubt the series will end anytime soon. With graphics and space improving there will be endless ideas for open-world gameplay. This is just the beginning in fact. in 20 years you will actually know what a living breathing city really is. GTA V will look like an 8-bit videogame compared to that future. There will be room to put every street of New York, Miami, California, maybe the whole f*cking world.
Stopped
I am wondering how long R* can 'milk' the gta cow. Maybe its an endless cow. I wouldn't really call it milking though. Yeah, R* puts out quality titles under this franchise. Milking it would be more of a CoD and Halo approach.

UpTheImps
It won't be, they'll have to go back to vice city, San Fierro, Las Venturas. ect ect. "Let's go, let's bounce baby! An' When I say bounce I don't mean bouncing literally I just mean..." "I know what it means Yusuf." "It's a term from the street meaning you have to walk, but if you don't get that it's a bit like rolling. You have to roll, not like a fat man rolling, it means actually just walk." "Can we just go?" kid23455
Doubt it. It's been 4 years since GTAIV, they're hardly milking anything. People only accuse COD of "milking" because of yearly releases with short dev times, low budgets, and how they don't change the engine. Unless absolutely nobody buys GTAV, I'd bet my life on there being more GTAs.
Dragonjack
It wouldn't be the last title in the series and that's highly unlikely btw.

InstantCClassic
GTA V won't be the end. This is Rockstar's flagship cash cow. The way I'm seeing it is that this only the beginning. GTA IV was a success, but that game didn't capture R*'s full potential of the franchise. With the new technology coming out, Rockstar will add more features, tweak the engine, and keep improving. Controversial too, and that equals cash sometimes.
3deogengunslingr
GTA isn't like COD or Halo. games like that get old quick and need to do crazy new styles like blackops 2. As long as GTA has great plots and good settings it'll be successful, that's just the nature of a well crafted free roam game.

redx165
If they drop GTA. Rockstar wouldn't be as big as they are now. More than 25% of their fans just buy GTA games and nothing else from them. Why would you give up a title that work for so long?? They don't milk it like Activision does. GTA will end but not anytime from now.

Shoumaker
No, I dont think R* are gonna stop making GTA games for a long time atleast. It is what made them famous as a gaming company. Just look at the hype of GTA V. A few tweets from R* and we have a 200+ page thread about it. This series is no where near dead IMO. + if it does end, what will even happen to these forums then? 73duster
I'm sure that as long as it is a money maker, they will continue developing them. However, nothing lasts forever.
Magic_Al
Rockstar has maintained the same core creative team for a long time, and that can't last forever, but so many people work on it, it would survive a talent transition as long as the company keeps the desire to make the best game, not the game that comes out every year whether they've got a new idea or not. It helps that the storyline of GTA can be almost anything in the action/crime genre, doesn't have to continue from game to game, and has a tone between reality and fiction that lets it do almost anything that's modern, not supernatural or too sci-fi. Fortunately, there will be more and more game developers getting into the open world sandbox genre. It won't be the same, but who's to say that someone won't give it a nice twist of their own? Competition is always a good thing.
