Hell No..
Hi guys, apparently I have some sort of Malware on my laptop. Haven't had any problems in years, but there we go. I'm currently on safe mode, but the only thing I can open is my Avira scanner. It seems to be blocking Spybot and Malwarebytes from opening. Any idea how I can get around this? Maybe I could put them on a USB and run them from there? Thanks! Edit - Managed to open spybot, just hope it finds something! Edit 2 - It's cleaned some stuff up, but not the main problem it seems. Malwarebytes still will not open, as well as Chrome and my FF browser has gone really slow and will not open some pages, or go to the homepage (google). Edit 3 - I copied and renamed the launch file and that seems to have worked. Edited August 12, 2012 by Hell No.. I'm on Twitch! Are you? Hell No..
7, mate. I managed to get Malwarebytes to run by renaming the launch file also, it found some trojans, and removed them on restart (apparently), but still, Chrome will not open and my FF is running pretty slow and will not connect to google, but the likes of bing are instant. Edit - I ran CCleaner and it seems to have done the trick! Apart from opening Chrome... Edited August 12, 2012 by Hell No.. I'm on Twitch! Are you? Wolf68k
7 what? Home or Pro It could be that if you're using Pro, or better, there maybe be a group policy setting that was written to prevent them from running.
Hell No..
Ultimate. So this spy/malware has blocked that setting maybe? I'm on Twitch! Are you? Come say Hi. https://www.twitch.tv/priceyryan
Wolf68k
It's possible. I can't say for sure. Try looking at Local Policy Editor->Software Restriction Policies->Additional Rules It would help to know which malware it is/was too.
MIKON8ERISBACK
I would recommend first booting up in safe mode, then running Malwarebytes Anti Malware and Spybot Search and Destroy. In addition, if you can find the name of the malware in question, then 2-Spyware.com can give you the exact Windows Registry entries that the malware in question has created. You can revert those changes to the registry manually, although it is usually optional and kind of a pain in the ass.
