Microwave
It should be jammed up a little at rush hour. I loved how fast the traffic went in San Andreas except for when they merge into you or when 10 cars pile up and crash because of a slow TRACTOR on the FREEWAY. Those things pissed me off but other than that listening to the radio and just chilling on the San Andreas Freeway was one of my favorite things in that game. SevenMice
I would like realistic traffic speeds, freeways should have the cars actually driving FAST. In IV there would be 5 cars driving fast, then 9 driving slow, and confusing the hell out of you. Go to about 2:54 and see how all cars are driving at similar fast speeds, that's what Los Santos's freeways should look like (on off rush hours.) Cars should also have better reactions: ex: you stop in the middle of the lanes, and other cars should beep, swerve, try to avoid you at all costs. In IV they'd just stop because they were driving so slow. The little things like that would be so satisfying. If you say so then R* need to make crashes on freeways more epic like burnout series.Like you said about IV when you crashed whether in dividers or other cars they just stop.In V I hope if you crash your car expect massive vehicle pileup of more than 20+ cars. artie
Just think..... when the next GTA game is released it'll be on the next-gen consoles. GTA will be so insanely detailed and dense. I just hope i'm not a grumpy middle-aged ahole by then....
IBrahemoX1X
I agree, however I wouldn't mind having a traffic jam now and then. It'd be cool to know that at 5pm the freeways around Los Santos are jammed, so you kind of have to take a different route. THIS , traffic in GTAIV was sh*t , i hope its better in V
dooshtoomun
I want the heavily packed, fast freeways, but I don't want massive jams every ingame day. Maybe every once in a while
Freezer89
This is reality on german highways.. anyway in any GTA game the police don't give a sh*t about how fast you drive. And it should be like that. Not that if there is a Mafia-like feature where the cops will pull you over when you drive too fast. Also yes for rush hours.. and obviously much more traffic on streets. IV lacked of these.
Death2Drugs
Yay a highway thread! I'd love to see heavy highway traffic. I thought the MC: LA traffic was decent enough. Also, we need speed. The speed on the highway was a f*cking joke in GTA IV...

rare.steak
Dat pic <3 I surely want to see that ASAP, but next two gens at least. 64GB DDR4/5 on PC, maybe 32/16GB on consoles. Of course, and mad CPUs. That looks like at least 200 cars loaded at one go. I've probably seen over 50 cars loaded on my [email protected] 3.3GHz, and with 8GB RAM and that's when everything started slowing down a notch. Bantri
The only problem if traffic is not consistent would be horrible for time based missions including delivery, or just making it places on time. It would suck to have to start a mission and it be during rush hour, to keep constantly failing. Or have the timer made to account for that and end up with no traffic and no challenge what so ever. I really doubt it since GTA takes way more resources than MC LA and since even big traffic jams on a decent 2011 PC slows the game down a little and we know consoles are not even better than a low-end 2008 PC
ChillyPhilly
For all the criticism of console limitations, there were times while playing IV on PS3 that the game itself would create a massive traffic jam at the southern end of Star Junction. Counted minimum 30 cars - at least 25 committed to game memory - all squeezed into two lanes after turning from four. No frame rate issues. The only issue was that I didn't have an RPG at the time. Not only does an individual car in IV take more resource than one in MC, there's the npcs inside them as well. Car physics + npc(s) physics + npc(s) AIs just to begin with. Console power just sucks beside a decent PC. Get over it.
ThisIsHorosho
well...if you're PC user there're always mods to suit your interests, i'm sure there will be mod that would let adjust vehicles limit during various periods of time...but if you're console user well...tough luck... Mokrie Dela
This is something i think needs improvement. San Andeas tried this, but failed, with the "catch up" and crashes you'd get on the freeways. IV messed up with cars changing lanes too, and if you stopped at a red light, the cars behind you would cause chaos to over take you (That made no sense as they didn't do it with other AI cars) High speed limits on the highways is a must, as well as the VOLUME of traffic increasing at rushhours. I dont think traffic jams should be inthe game, for gameplay reasons, but increasing the volume and slowing the traffic down SLIGHTLY will have a similar effect. Random traffic jams due to roadworks (SRTT had random roadworks, thought the system didn't work) or incidents, would be cool, but not too often. The balance between realism and gampelay is important. Having all of the freeways come to a standstill would hinder the fun of the game, but there definietly needs to be some traffic-density system in place but judging from the trailer, i dont think we'll see that this generation. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Click here to view my Poetry
ToTheWorld
I'm game to see traffic jams, however I don't think they'll be added in. There will be a huge amount of people who don't want to have roads blocked off at a certain time every day so I think the most we can expect is simply to see a heavier amount of traffics around rush hour. There were TONS of cars on the road in the big detailed map, and the cars were pretty detailed, having people inside of them and a fully detailed interior. Nevermind, why try to explain this to an idiot. Edited August 16, 2012 by Kifflom112
