davetopper
It would be nice to one day plug in your GTA IV disk and find that there is a new update available. Now wouldn't that be the way to do it? To excite the fan base by adding a little something something to the game that already exists? You would think by this time where most systems and games have the capacity to download content that they would quench the thirsts of their fan base in this way. Too much to ask? Thats not gonna happen, R* wont make more money on IV so they wont release new patches, last one was released 2 years ago only becouse of EFLC. Multiple times people asked them for patching IV becouse multiplayer got hacked but they wont do anything about it.
Adriaan
Didn't this happen with Red Dead, especially in beginning, where they made some multiplayer content available with updates (the free ones)? I am assuming the OP was speaking in general, which applies to GTAV as well... Seeing as though you're speaking of "devs", Naughty Dog went further and beyond the native patching system with the Uncharted games, and would add updates itself whenever you entered multiplayer without being prompted to download and install patches. MosquitoSmasher
An update for GTA IV and more or less they give a hint that you should turn on the tv in the game, and you'll get some GTA V related comercials or teasers.
krspkbl
That'd be awesome! A surprise update and it adds in subtle clues to V. Doesn't it cost them to send patches though? Maybe it's not worth it.
Adriaan
@krspkbl Fun fact: Around the time the Epsilon twitter launched, San Andreas was taken off Xbox Live for a week. It's been put back for download/purchase again. Edited August 11, 2012 by Adriaan
theworldfamous
This is really great idea, that's why I'm sure Sony and MS terms of service would never allow it. I'm kinda disappointed the so called 'connectivity' of these consoles is only used to deliver (often sub par) DLC as an extra way to milk to consumer. You could even turn it into a prologue of sorts. Upload V's main character to IV and give him a couple of missions to do in LC so we get to know him. Do them well enough and you start V with a cash bonus and a cool gun. Or you could retroactively improve games. Like TBoGT on xbox looks much better than TLaD and IV. Why can't they apply the same improvements in an update? TOS, probably
davetopper
It is a generality, but it would have been a good way to go about it. And the tv or radio commercials, something small, just an update. It was a bantered thought, not something they would do. Just something they should.
