I have no problems with a female protagonist so long as it fits the story and doesn't feel forced or contrived. But therein lies the problem with a female lead in a GTA. The game has always been about parodying western society as well as parodying the over-the-top masculinity that is portrayed in everything from Hollywood films to professional sports within this society. Having a f*ckin' tough guy as the lead character has always been an integral part of the parody.

 

But, if developed correctly, a female could work in something like a DLC story. I'm thinking more along the lines of Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 type of masculinity though. Anything less just wouldn't be GTA worthy.

Lesbian females who are the strong confident types are trying to be men anyways, so f*ck that.

This is a dumb question to ask a male dominated forum. I think it could be interesting given the sexist vibe of the game. Every game views women as objects or tools. The only positive female I can think of is elizabetta or however you spell her name. So to ask this question your just going to get nothing but no because they're so used to sexism. I think it could be interesting but I know it is not going to happen.

I mean, how else would the story make sense if you're a hot woman?

 

I love females, they are good for a lot of things but as a protag, what story could you attach to them? Cooking and cleaning would get boring, maybe you get to have a baby?

They'd have to tune the driving to unbearable controls to accurately represent a female driver.

Definitely.. about damn time too.

I totally agree with this too. That's why I like it as a DLC idea or if there's indeed multiple protags. Viewing the same world from a female pov could really help the parody. It'd be an interesting twist.

I like the idea. DLC is the perfect way to try it out. Just make her a legit killer like Gina Carano in Haywire...or Gina Carano IRL.

I love how most you outright reject the idea in an instant, perhaps your personal views of females are skewed, I dunno. But here's the thing, there's every possibility that a female protag could work in a GTA and all she would require is to b e well written, realistic and strong (more strong on the inside than out). We've already had strong female characters with Asuka and Catalina, but both weren't all that 'human.' In the post GTA IV world, she'd require tons of humanity and then have something taken from them to give a motive (see: Sarah Connor is a great example).

 

I absolutely believe R* could make a well written and even iconic female protag for a GTA game and/or DLC.

Yes, as it's a DLC. I wouldn't want one in a main game though. I played with a female lead in SR2 and 3 and it turned out to be pretty good to me. So, yeah again.
