Nedalo1995 Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 NOTE: its Speculation i guess the major release will be for current gen consoles but if its release in 2012 or early 2013 next gen will come by the end of 2013, and the Gta for next gen will come maybe in 2017 or 2019 i mean thats waaaaaay too long , but when next gen come they will make it to be playable thats why its TBA its for current and next gen. and why its surly for this gen its been in development for 4 years i mean , why would they been working so hard and early announcement before we hear about next gen in 2011, so it seems logical to be this gen consoles. But i disagree with your 2017 opion! R* able to create GTA in every two year if they want, but they focus other things like Mindnight Club, RDR, Bully Agent, Max Payne, LA Noire ect. and who knows what the future holds? Of course current gen and why would you state 2017 or 2019 when you KNOW the game is coming earlier like this or next next year. Sorry, if I sound harsh but im trying to be kind. Because R* would also lose a lot of money it they were to make it next gen because people would have to buy the new console then buy the game again. wwinterj Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Honestly. We have had loads of these topics. GTA V is for THIS gen consoles. Otherwise R* wouldn't advertise it. We have seen nothing of next gen games. No images or anything. Next gen consoles could be out at the end of next year but the launch games won't be anything major like a GTA game. At the end of 2014 is when big games will jump ship because the fan base won't be that big when the console first launches. I sometimes wonder if this "next gen" crowed have seen more than one console cycle. If so then they should know that next gen won't be relevant for at least a year or so after it's launch. I'm not sure why everyone is sooooo excited about next gen with the current gen has only just in the last few years come out of it's awkward teen stages. If you've been gaming as long as I, you would fear the next gen. I started on Atari and have witnessed the birth of nearly every console. At first, every console is crapped on with horrible gimmick games that highlight the new features, then much later on halfway decent titles appear, then much much later games get great and then people start whining they want something new. Here's some basic (fictitious but not unrealistic) math to help understand why GTA shouldn't be next gen. Take Two projects a 20% sell through of GTA on console. If there are 50 million (fudged number for effect) current gen consoles, that means they expect to sell 10 million (real answer to fudged number) copies. Xbox sold 1.5 million 360s the first year they were available. A 20% sell through of that would be 300,000. Even if Sony and Microsoft released products the same day and sold identically, the number of those console in homes a year after release would be insignificant compared to the number of current gen consoles. They wouldn't have had the devkits back when they started development, plus even though the graphics are clearly improved from IV you can still tell they're for current gen. What customer base will R* be able to sell more units to? Even if the next gen consoles came out this Christmas season (they aren't) they'd still sell millions more units to the old console players. theworldfamous Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Unless either Sony or MS puts some money up to add them to their launch lineup, I doubt R* is gonna be quick to jump on the bandwagon. Their games are expensive to develop and need a lot of sales to be profitable. So they;ll probably test the waters first with a smaller, less risky franchise. GTA V on next gen? I don't know.. not very likely, imo. If it comes, it'll be a port with upgraded graphics. They did it with Bully, but I suspect that had something to do with disappointing sales on ps2. Bully 2 as a launch title is much more likely. R* New England is working on something. A next gen launch title is a great way for R* to get some attention for their non-GTA franchises and Bully is pretty casual/family friendly. GTA V is this gen, this is definite, IF GTA V is Next Gen only!, I will rip my left nut off, with my bare hands and then cauterize the wound in my nutsack. Financially it does not make sense to make GTA V a Next GEN title. It'd be suicide.
