neo92boi
As the array of rumors that spewed on about this game have since ceased I recalled one that made me envision an extremely down home realistic way of integrating Los Santos (Los Angeles) freeway activity. As I've heard in many movies and pop culture LA has some of the most dangerous and crowded stretches of freeways in the USA possibly the world. If the rumor for real time traffic and weather reports are to be true, along with the 48 hour police searching. Do you guys think it would be feasible to integrate police check points, closed lanes for evidence and clean up from high speed chases and accidents, even DUI/DWI sting areas along Los Santos freeways? This would make you dreadfully scared but leave room for extreme fun especially if you dared venturing the city after you went on murder spree and or a high speed chase and got away. neo92boi
As long as I don't get wanted stars for speeding or vehicular hit and run I'm fine with it. Oh nah thats gamebreaking im talking more or less emergency activity regarding your antics or the antics of mindless driving Santonian's causing major backups. No rules of the road bullsh*t just NO lol
kid23455
That'd make the game pretty damn hard. I'd love to see more traffic in the city, make it a little more realistic, but police checkpoints, crashes, all that, and you're only going to make it harder to get around the city from mission to mission, which is already a pain in the ass without that kinda stuff. Not that I want traffic laws, but, what's going on there?

pilsvern
I'm ok with that, but we need to see police cars on radar, then we can slow down and respect traffic laws instead of getting a star
Johan
That's way too realistic for my taste, it's a game you know no matter how hard they say they wanna try realism, some things aren't meant to be in it and this looks like one of them

Troll Proof
Traffic laws can work in GTA, just like how they worked in MCLA. Cops were too frequent in IV, possibly because of LC's nature of a terrorist destination, but with less cops around, you can still run lights, speed and crash, just keep an eye out for the black and white. Troll Proof
It just adds to the immersion of the game. Traffic laws don't have to be overbearing, like how I mentioned already. People want to sit on park benches, wash their hands and pump gas in-game too, is that a problem? BTW has anyone noticed that if you run lights/speed in IV, cars will honk at you? neo92boi
Im not saying there should be speed limits and lane switching rules or any menial realistic thing that is in real life, im saying the city would be even more organic by its way of acknowledging and keeping watch of your and others activities. EX. You recently went on a rampage on the 609 freeway ;-), you escaped unscathed, you then return after 10 hours since your rampage and you notice theres a traffic backup, as you approach you soon see flares and LSPD and LSFD vehicles surrounding the epicenter of your crimes hours earlier..as a warning a blip comes up telling you "A checkpoint MAY be ahead, bail the vehicle now or face the law." The cool thing is if you dress differently, drive a different car, or have good vocal skills (LEAVE ROOM FOR RPG ELEMENTS)you may be able to escape the checkpoint, OR there MAY be no check point at all. It adds randomness, and posses a challenge for you NOW being conscientious of what routes you take to specific areas of the city, similar to how in GTA III you would never dare approach North Portland after killing Salvatore. Troll Proof
sorry for switching the topic. It would be cool to see after affects of your actions. What about generic radio reports and those overhead electric boards. They could report stolen cars, backups and other newsworthy topics.
GarrowsKai
Main thing I want to happen is for the AI traffic to be better. But no I dig you bro gta iv AI was horrible. As a new yorker I can tell you we dont drive that slow and retarded EVER!! 73duster
Traffic laws, NO. Traffic jams, YES! As long as they are rare, i think it not only adds realism, but also adds a challenge. Imagine getting caught up in a traffic jam on the highway during a chase, and having to get out and navigate your way through the pile up of cars. You could have several motorists arguing and shoving each other. You could see an accident in the other lane. You could work your way up front and steal another car to get away. Again, i don't want to see a traffic jam every time i'm on the freeway, but if it's a rare occurence, that would be pretty cool. Also, it's supposed to be like L.A., so NOT having it in there wouldn't make sense. We need to see reminders of L.A.

No rules of the road bullsh*t just NO lol I could see where you are talking about having some sort of checkpoint on the roads late at night working like the toll booths in GTA IV. If you stop and pay, then you pass. If you just rush through without paying, you become wanted by the police. I think this would work for a checkpoint system because if you just drive on by like the cops aren't even there, then they will obviously go after you, but if you stop and pass their test(s), then you go on with you're in-game life. theworldfamous
I'd already be pretty happy if we finally got a decent amount of traffic on the roads.. not like Star Junction with 4 cars and a bus on it.
MIKON8ERISBACK
Anyone play GTA IV? If yes, then has anybody noticed that people sometimes drive around the city in semi-totaled cars after getting in accidents and managing to drive away? I always found that kind of odd. As for the AI, it looks bad and broken in it's own unique way in the debut GTA V trailer.

Death2Drugs
I want the traffic to be as close to Los Angeles traffic as possible. There was too little traffic in IV.
xGhostx
Just don't get a star or 2 for speeding, I'm fine with it. Like in Mafia II, you get a wanted lever when speeding over 40 or 60. Really hard to do stunt and other things and since Gta V had a really big city.
SevenMice
sorry for switching the topic. It would be cool to see after affects of your actions. What about generic radio reports and those overhead electric boards. They could report stolen cars, backups and other newsworthy topics. bumping this thread. But yeah i was thinking exactly that. Well, not that the things the boards would say would have to do with the player, but the electronic message board should look like this: and it would have things like "heavy traffic ahead, tune to *radio station* for info" (which is why in V they should have a radio station SPECIFICALLY for just news, weather, traffic reports, celebrity gossip, etc. haha) That would be really cool in my opinion. Just imagine, driving down the freeway all chill and cool, and suddenly you see the electronic sign and it said heavy traffic ahead and you're like "aw sh*t" and either wait in traffic or take an alternate route. idk that would be interesting, because the freeways are functioning like ACTUAL freeways.
