Uhm I don't know if this had been said before, but Felipe Busquets - Lead Cinematics Animator at Rockstar Games - posted two days ago on his twitter account this Epsilon website.

 

Isn't this kinda a confirmation that this has definitely something to do with GTA V?

I've never heard of anyone doing it in the past 8 years; but that's because we never really figured out a full working address. When they first wrote it, they put Gran Canaria in. Gran Canaria is on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean from the Cayman Islands.

There's a total of 15 postal offices in the Cayman Islands. The only postal office that has a PO Box numbered 10012 is assigned to the postal code KY1-1001. Postal code KY1-1001 is located in the island of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. Surely a R* messed up years ago? I can see how one can mistake Gran Canaria and Grand Cayman.

 

Plus, they finally did remove Gran Canaria in early 2012; along with other subtle changes.

i only found out about all this myths since this was found again a couple days ago..i played gta sa when i was very young and it was just for fun..and now i found out, holy sh*t, R* created dat myths in gta sa..masterpiece O.o

Yeah, i agree with most of you guys. It may be the restart of the game's marketing, but it's useless, IMO.

All this thing ''Epsilon promotion'' works with us, the fans who are dying for some information, are part of the forums, search the whole internet for some leaked news and probably played all the olders GTA's. We go after the news, they don't need to come to us.

 

But i wonder about the other part of gamers... what about those guys that play GTA occasionally and are not so concerned about the game's development and this kind of marketing. I imagine tomorrow, one of those regular GTA players going on IGN (for exemple), and discovers that he needed to be a f*king GTA hardcore fan to know what all that Epsilon thing is. The marketin won't work with him. Of course, i know that this may be just the beginning of the promotion and later we will se hundreds of officials screens and videos... but... something just sounds odd to me.

Right now Rockstar is targeting us, the hardcore GTA fans, because we're hungry for news and they're getting us ready or playing us around for that. The other non-casual gamers aren't wanting news as much as we do.

I agree with you I believe this is the very begining of the marketing project it won't be of course the only strategy up R* sleeve but I do believe it just may have begun.

At this point its only for people like us, but i'm pretty sure this campaign will get bigger and then be picked up by large gaming sites for others to see. Or else its just a fan service kind of thing to let us know they haven't forgotten about us fans.

 

And at least we know they'll be bringing back all the parody and comedy we've seen in other games, thats what i'm most excited about

It's already been picked up by somesites, therefore a Rockstar dev even re-tweeted it it's definitely good to see Rockstar using old parodies to attract us though.

Have read through around 96% of the posts here, but I suddenly lost track of the most important stuff, like which devs to check out on twitter. Would someone be so kind as to recap some of those devs and their profiles?

 

Oh yeah, and this agony_aunt twitter stuff..? This is of no relevance right now?

The agony_aunt profile is probably BS. Mostly because...the Epsilon one isn't following anyone and R* devs tweeted it, while agony_aunt pretty much follows most of the people following it. And...it just seems BS.

Nah I don't have a habit of harassing the people I follow on twitter, would be pretty stupid. For me that site is one way communication, just a bunch of pretty interesting information from interesting people.

I don't know about you guys, but when a Rockstar employee links to a article on Eurogamer that is about GTA V Viral marketing, and he also names it GTA V viral marketing on the tweet...do you really need any kind of confirmation?

 

I agree with someone here that said that this viral marketing is cool, but it's a bit too late. But i still do enjoy it. But they could have been doing this stuff months ago too,unless....this is a leadup to a big update and a release soon, but thats very doubtful. I hope this Epsilon stuff plays a significant role in GTA V cause it's hilarious. In GTA SA i guess i never paid much attention to it. It's been a long time since i played the game...so maybe i simply forgot.

 

I also see plenty of complaints from people who hate this stuff, well if you don't like it...don't check out this thread then. Look...Rockstar could have still been keeping us in the dark and do absolutely nothing, but this IS quite clearly GTA V related, so at least its something. And they know how relevant and big Twitter is nowadays, so it makes sense to begin the marketing there. Personally i laugh my ass off when i see a new tweet has arrived. They are soooo messing with us, lol.

Latest tweet means we'll see Epsilon as part of the plotline, and giving up that "which you don't yet have" refers to the money you'll have in the game. That's my best guess.

 

And it would make sense to use the Epsilon Program for viral marketing for GTA V given that epsilon is the fifth letter of the Greek alphabet.
