Alex626
Hello fellow modders! I need to import the entire Vice City model into 3DS MAX 2012, part by part, so I will be able to remake the city in HD. I searched for on a several sites on how to do it, and finally I found a working importer\exported - KAM's tools. I figured out of how to import separate DFFs, but the IDE\IPL importing is still not clear to me. It's said that I should unpack all DFFs\TXDs from gta3.img into some folder, then I should set this folder as a DFF path - this step makes no difficulties. Then I press "IPL" button, but nothing happens. Then I opened MAX Script log, and here is what I found: >instline 1 Reading T:\Games\vice_city\models\extracted\IslandLODmainland.dff... >>>Can't Find/Open T:\Games\vice_city\models\extracted\IslandLODmainland.dff<<<line 2 Reading T:\Games\vice_city\models\extracted\cdseabed01.dff... >>>Can't Find/Open T:\Games\vice_city\models\extracted\cdseabed01.dff<<<line 3 Reading T:\Games\vice_city\models\extracted\cdseabed02.dff... >>>Can't Find/Open T:\Games\vice_city\models\extracted\cdseabed02.dff<<< Somehow, it couldn't open the DFF files. Their path is "T:\Games\vice_city\models\extracted", and all the models are actually exist there. I extracted them with old IMG Tools. Here I need your help. Thank you in advance! Alex626
Okay, I figured out, that plugin doesn't work with 2012 version. I launched it on 2010, and it has imported me a city. But how to import textures on the objects?

Frank.s
Afaik it's not possible to extract them all at once. What you'll need to do is get the txd's that are used in the section of your map and extract each txd one at a time, all txd tools like G-Txd or TxdWorkshop have buttons to export the whole txd at once. Yes, I know that already. I've checked every possible program. Maybe there is some source codes for TXD extractor, so I can code a custom program for batch export? Alex626
Alright, I finally figured out how to extract all TXD files. Now I've got all the 6225 TGA files in my DFF path. What to do the next? I open 3ds max 2010, choose Map IO, set DFF path to my DFF\TGA files folder, then I check texture format to tga and I press IPL. I've chosen to load airport.ipl. After processing it loads me an airport with all the buildings. But there is no textures, they are not shown. I've checked material, it is set to a "GTA_Mtl". Maybe that's a problem? Please, help, I need to get these textures working in 3ds max. Alex626
Anybody knows how to import textures to 3DS MAX? P.S. How did those guys ported San Andreas into RAGE? Did they take out the city into 3ds max, then exported to new engine, or they just copied some files?

Hello, do you have THE PNG OR TGA files of GTA Vie City?

Instead of posting in an old thread I think you should be better off posting a new thread. For your information, what you're asking is rather sketchy because they are game files, so sharing them here might be found to be a breach in GTAforums forum rules. You can buy the game for roughly 10 bucks if my memory is right. You can then extract all .txd files from the .img archive, then use the 'Mass extract' function with MagicTXD and extract all txd contents with that.
