Icarus
So I found out I could watch previous events on CTV online and decided to watch some weightlifting. I was watching the women's 75 kg program. When the woman from Kazakhstan won, I'm not sure who was more excited: her or her coach. He was just going mental in front of the camera. darthYENIK
You Americans better finish higher than the Chinese though. I hope USA finish above China too. but why? it doesn't really mean anything. the US and China always finish in the top 3 versus all countries because we simply have more people in more events than any other country. the odds are in our favor long before you factor in raw talent. usually the Summer Olympics end with the USA on top in total medal count, but China usually has the most gold medals. so who is really the winner? the country with the most overall or the country with the most gold? Well, as of right now, the U.S. has both more gold, and more overall. So we win. Didn't I tell you guys. The ones who escape the real-life dalek made by our scientists we are gonna release at the closing ceremony why do you think we went double the budget, dalek's are expensive to make. In all seriouslness I would say gold = 3 silver = 2 and bronze = 1 so then tally it all up for overall score if you want to know who 'won' the olympics Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/518208-2012-olympics/page/6/#findComment-1061548743 Share on other sites
El Dildo
the Mail just published an expose which shows how the Chinese train their (questionably) young gymnasts. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-21...-hang-bars.html it seriously looks like torture. I can't imagine that this is normal. I'm willing to bet that most gymnasts from most other countries are never put through "training" quite like this. Nah Tso Gud
That's the first time youve seen that from China? It was pretty big in 08 and the reason why I dont really pay their medals any minds... It's extremely sad. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/518208-2012-olympics/page/6/#findComment-1061549617 Share on other sites
El Dildo
I don't remember seeing pictures like that in 08. I mean obviously the fact that it's happening means it has been going on for years. but that's the first time I've actually seen it. certainly heard of it. what I remember most from 08 was not just rumors that the Chinese athletes were basically undergoing forced labor, but that they may be deliberately breaking the rules; such as forging birth certificates so that their competitors could enter events that were supposed to have a minimum/maximum age requirement. and who the hell is gonna' stop them? they were hosting the entire games AND they're a Communist superpower. no one was going to challenge that sh*t Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/518208-2012-olympics/page/6/#findComment-1061549674 Share on other sites
Smith John
Well that's GB into 3rd in the tables now. We really are doing pretty well so far. And it looks like Jessica Ennis (hot as hell!) is on coarse for a gold. Then we got Andy Murray in the final on Sunday - although no doubt Federrer will shatter our tennis hopes once again. And yeah, I hope the US finish above China, simply for the fact of those images of children being brutalized and tortured into olympians. Jimothybuxton
Ennis has basically got another gold in the bag for us. She's fit as f*ck as well which is a bonus. Mo Farah should definitely get a medal later, great chance of gold Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/518208-2012-olympics/page/6/#findComment-1061550306 Share on other sites
Robinski
F*ck yeah jess Ennis I'm so happy she's is storming the heptathlon, all that pressure and she's just taken it in her stride as if it's nothing. Hope she can pull it off in the 800m tonight. One of the younger lasses in the same event's doing alright as well, Katarina Johnson-Thompson. She's not really got a chance of medalling here, but she's only 18 and she's done really well, definitely one to watch in the future. 4 Bagger
Looking forward to the athletics later on. Also looking forward to the 10000m race. I love watching those events because I can only imagine how hard it would be to perform at that level. It's good to see GB in third on the rankings table now. We've done well considering we were like 21st less than a week ago. Robinski
Two things I've learned in the last hour: 1) Olympic Race Walking is a thing 2) It's f*cking brutal That's a russian collapsing from exhaustion at ~16km. I just know the marathon athletes are sat in the village wondering what the f*ck this sh*t is. 4 Bagger
Ramsey scored from a cr*p penalty and missed from the second one. It was a good recovery from Christine Ohuruogu as she went from about 4th to 2nd in a small amount of time. She had a really good finish to the race. Robinski
Knocked out in penalties. Why do I feel like I've seen this match before? Yes, yes, I know Team GB isn't England, but it certainly feels the same. Crokey
When the majority of the team are English it's inevitable. Still the Olympics isn't just about 1 game, and I didn't really much care for the Olympic football anyway. The Killa
That was a terrible penalty by Sturridge. After the booing of Suarez I was hoping "Team GB" would get tonked. Seddo
Fantastic day for GB with the 6 golds, hope there's many more to come next week. Silly stuttering run up on the pen by Sturridge, he also had the opportunity to pass right at the end of 120 minutes but saw the newspaper headlines and screwed the shot well wide.
