I don't really have time to watch the Olympics but I will probably watch some parts of the athletics. That's the only kind of summer olympics sports I follow. Too bad Sweden doesn't have any stars anymore though. But on the other hand there are guys like Usain Bolt that are interesting to follow so it doesn't really matter.

Haha! Yep, the Olympics/athletics have never really interested me. But seeing as it's happening here in the UK, I've deciceded to show some enthusiasm.

Womans volleyball is definitely at the top of the list to watch - for the great sport it is of course inlove.gif

London woot!

And I saw the torch.

I saw it yesterday, 23rd of July 2012, and, I got so close, I actually felt the heat from it, I felt Olympic fire! lol

London, WOOT!

I love the Summer Olympics.

assuming the time works out I always try to watch as much as possible when it's live.

if I can't work out the times then I will definitely be recording all the live events to watch later.

and we're having people over Thursday for a little opening ceremony party.

unfortunately London will never be able to do anything like what the Chinese did in 2008 (same goes for most countries) but I imagine it will still be pretty awesome.

Sailing is about the only sport I'm really interested in with the summer Olympics. That's because I do a bit of sailing and because I've sailed the same waters they're using for the Olympics.

I think the Olympics are a great goal for athletes and for national pride, but they're just not the same when your nation isn't hosting them.

We had it in 1948, and I heard about that when I was in year 8 or 9 at secondary school on a class trip with my P.E class (physical education class) in Wembley Stadium, the old one, before they knocked down/moved the two towers.

That was cool, but I thought, because of that, 'not in my lifetime' because, we already had it. And this was like 1999/2000, I think it was November 1999.

I remember we were bidding, and all around Westminster, they had back the bid, or something... THEN, we won it, 'then we got bombed' - We got it on the 6th of July and then 7/7 happened less than 24 hours later in the morning. - I remember it was us, Paris and New York City, and... I didn't think we was going to win, (because of 1948 I guess), I just assumed Paris was going to get it... America, have hosted it a lot.

I think, hehe, looking back, I think Manchester bidded for the 2004 or 2008 Olympics, or, something like that.

North Korea upset over Olympic flag mixup

Saw this article a short time ago and found it kind of funny. They couldn't have picked two worse countries to mix up. The irony I find in it all is that the Brits did nothing but criticize Vancouver back in 2010 for the issues there, yet they can't even get the Koran flags right.

I vividly remember watching the 2010 Winter Olympics (mostly for the ice-hockey and curling) and not once did I hear/read of any critism of those games confused.gif

Anyhow, f*cking up something as simple as a nations flag is pretty embarrassing.

Boxing isn't until Saturday?

Tyler walks out

I don't know if I even want to watch. In '08 the judges were blind, they sometimes counted 1 punch for one fighter for every 5 landed by another. And they weren't glancing blows or anything, but solid clean hits. I hear they have a convoluted computer system that requires three judges to press a button at the same time to count as a punch. I don't know why they don't just count each time a judge presses the button. Surely with so many judges they'd be able to get a near accurate punch count.

...yet they can't even get the Koran flags right.

Now that would be bad, especially if Israel was involved. I keed, I keed.

But that's not all they've ballsed up with, they called Joe Allen a football (soccer) player a Welshman, English.

Not that over enthused about the Olympics to be honest, probably cause it's a very London-centric affair. Saying that though, when the Women's beach volleyball is on, my interest may be 'perked' up a bit... Shucky Ducky Quack Quack.

for me it's all about track n' field and swimming.

I'll watch men's basketball of course, but my favorite competitions are the classic solo events like sprinting, distance running, jumping, fencing, archery, target shooting and decathlon, and the Michael Phelps / Ryan Lochte matchups in the pool.

Women's beach volley ball though I'm somewhat disturbed to hear that they can cover up if it gets too cold!

Anyone watching the opening ceremony right now? Its not too bad so far! (but then what would you expect from Danny Boyle!)
