I'd like a 2012 release, but knowing R* its not going to happen. So I voted 2013.

Sorry, the only real facts I see to support a 2013 release is that not enough marketing has happened yet and other games from other developers are going to be released on (X)'12 or (X)'13.

A 6 week marketing blitz would make gamers hold their breath in anticipation IMO. Plus the marketing director was let go, so it would seem R* and/or T2 wasn't happy with the way this has been handled to date, which could mean anything really to any marketing/game delay theory.

The only logic to support 2013 so far is that T2 thought Max Payne 3 was $900,000,000 game and told the shareholders this. Jesus... The financial facts show 2012 to be Grand Theft Auto year. Butt hurt feelings mean very little, and quotes snipped from the news wire saying GTA isn't ready is also contradicted by R* in other quotes from the same Q&A. R* are cryptic sonofabitches and are just keeping you guessing and doubting, believing than confused. It's what they do to throw you off the scent. The fact they are actively doing this right now rather than the total silence game indicates something big, very soon.

I'm not sure boarderlands or bioshock will even stall or alter a release date either. I think R* releases games when they done and nothing from other developers really matters. R* are too big to care about these strategies, it's the smaller houses that would alter and delay due to the game market. The big kid doesn't move out of the way of the little one. If anything there has been some get out of way of fall '12 activity from everyone else, and boarderlands is sneaking in a month before. Very smart.

Also in a T2 presentation to the shareholders for this years forecast had a big GTAV logo smack dab in the middle of it. Believe it. At least believe it was scheduled to happen.

TakeTwo expected 300 million dollar for Max Payne 3 + DLCs and 150 million dollar for catalogs from Rockstar. But TakeTwo expected exactly 1.08 billion dollar from Rockstar. Rockstar have even to surpass the preditions. So more than 650 million dolar are open for a another game. Which game? Rockstar said after the GTA V trailer that GTA V is their next game after Max Payne 3. So this game that have to earn 650 million dollar is GTA V. icon14.gif Btw Bioshock and Borderlands are games from 2K and not Rockstar. wink.gif

Oh yeah, that was my point. 2K is a sister company and left the door open for GTAV on purpose. Also moved up Bioshock to February '13. smile.gif

Simple math says GTAV very soon. Math provides better answers than gut feelings. Besides my gut feeling says GTA sooner than later. With the amount of people developing it and resources, they don't need one more year to polish it up. I bet week to week major progress has been made for a very very long time. Multiply that by a few years already... you have a massive game. What is it, something like 200 people working on GTAV? That is 8000 hours a week (40 hour cycle) working on GTAV... or 2,920,000 hours a year. It is has been 3 years, a possible 8,760,000 hours put into the game.

8 million hours should be enough time to be finished GTAV. In fact if GTAV has a budget of $100,000,000 dollars to make, and the average wage is $20p/h, at 5 million hours the game is completed.

Mathematically GTAV is done.

Financial numbers say GTAV is coming in a few months.

I'm officially a "Twenty Thirteener" now. When they announced GTA V last year I was absolutely sure it would be released in Oct 2012. But about a month ago when I had to face the fact that October was just around the corner and they hadn't followed up the first trailer yet, I gave up hope.

Obviously I'd love for R* to pull a surprise out of their ass at the last minute, I'm just not betting on it anymore.

I expect October 27 or November 8 2012. These are the days when Vice City was released 10 years ago in America and the rest of the world. Now I expect a global release on one of these days biggrin.gif

Exactly. Plus I doubt MP3 DLCs will reach anything near that. Too many people on here trusting their "I don't have info yet" intuition instead of the financial figures and R* and TTWO were businesses last time I checked.

Yeah, really. I extremely doubt that GTA V will have a long marketing campaign as GTA IV or even Max Payne 3. suicidal.gif 2-3 months of marketing is enough to let everybody know that GTA V is coming. icon14.gif

I still believe that GTA V will be released between October and December 2012. There is nothing that speak for a release in 2012 expect no info. And even that is not a really good reason. tounge.gif

Rockstar want to maximize their profits. The shorter the marketing campaign the less money Rockstar have to invest into the marketing the higher their profits. Nothing negative. Only benefits for Rockstar. icon14.gif

Ha! My math was way wrong there, I put 8000 hours x364 days instead of x52 weeks.

Woops!

Thought those numbers seemed a bit ridiculous.

416,000 hours a year.

x3 years

1,248,000 hours into the game.

x $20 an hour x 40 x 200 x 52 x 3 = $24,960,000 in labor alone.

+ actors, writers, CEOs, marketing and advertising, utilities, manufacturing, etc.

That seems more reasonable.

In any case this was just a correction and doesn't mean much. 3 years is enough time and money. I bow down for two more weeks and see what the numbers say then.

EDIT: Went to Walmart and you can score Max Payne for free. For those of you that still need to buy GTA Episodes From Liberty City you can buy this:

Or buy it with Max Payne for the same price! Cheap!

Wow MP3 same price as the "outdated" GTAIV EFLC? Even Wolfenstein is more expensive ... was the game a fail like that? mercie_blink.gif

2012 for the win. 2013 will not be the release date of GTA V as it would be one big stupid move by R*. Its like moving your king in chess to the other players king without realizing of what you have just done until the very last minute, a big big mistake

Yeah, if we won't get any info in July or August, then 2012 is done, and welcome 2013

It's probably even cheaper in the USA. I live in Canada, usually even with an equal dollar we get ripped off in retail if you compare.

Man, I hope this is a sign that the excessive marketing campaign of MP3 is almost over. I'm not trying to diss the game here, but I for one am almost sick of seeing MP3 everywhere I look. Bring on GTA!

The best you can hope for at this point is a December 2012 release, which I highly doubt if there is nothing by the middle of August. Like I said originally, early 2013 if we're lucky.

True story.

Whenever I go to their website, it's as if I am on maxpayne3.com instead of rockstargames.com.

I like MP3 (multi is awesome!), but this is getting too much for a game that has been released already for almost 2 months. Bring on GTA....we're ready.

I'd like a 2012 release, but knowing R* its not going to happen. So I voted 2013.

You should read what's written above your comment...

The post above me is all speculation. Here's my speculation then to refute the above:

Companies are business who's main focus is to generate profit, by any means necessary. This isn't the first time that a company has "made up" numbers in order to appease to the masses. Companies are known to exaggerate sales figures, especially when it is a mere "forecast".

Take2 may have artificially inflated their predicted forecast so that shareholders are satisfied, giving a false sense of security that GTA V will be released in fiscal 2013. Remember Max Payne 3? That was forecasted to be released in Fiscal 2012, but then got pushed back to fiscal 2013, making 2011 a year of loss for T2.

So if they "lied" to us, then how will they respond when people begin questioning how they arrived at these numbers? It's simple really, they could easily say something like "we had initially planned GTA V to be released in 2012, and as such this was incorporated into the forcasted shareprice. Since then we have needed to modify this forcast, due to unavoidable delays that have unfortunately risen".

Basically they knew GTA V wouldn't be released this year, but they want us to believe it could may be so. At the same time they don't want to announce a release date and then only to go back on it (T2 is becoming notorious for this). So this is a more subtle way of fooling us into being unrealistically optimistic.

1 - You are talking about the matter as if companies casually plan to misrepresent their numbers to investors. It does not work that way. This isn't something that people strategically do. monocle.gif

2 - Companies in no way benefit financially from lying about predicted earnings numbers. When investors find out that they lied about their numbers, the share value plummets way below the true value at which the company was too fearful to stoop to in the first place. In the modern corporate environment, missing numbers is one of the most dreaded circumstances. monocle.gif

3 - Do you really think that the Ivy-League educated execs at TTWO are stupid enough to drive the shares into turmoil just for a share price rise only lasting a few months as they did early this year? You've merely stated a scenario, but with no support so I will respectfully refute. monocle.gif

1st: I voted 2013 hoping for a 2012.

I agree with ya on that and would also add that it is a speculation on their part as well. MP3 is a good IP and did make money for them and will continue to do so with DLCs. They might be leaving GTAV somewhat open and contradictory due to the fact that the game's their bread and butter. Maybe the game is done and they're just fixin the bug to come up with a monstrous marketing campaing; maybe they had so many bugs that the game is gonna get pushed to 2013 cryani.gif , or they are still working on it and it was just a 'shareholder lifeline'.

Honestly if i was on their shoes i'd take my time independent on fiscal forecasts since GTAV will be a motherload. Yes i'd love to have it this year but i'd prefer to wait till it's really done so that i can spend another 6+ months on it.

I cant believe that more people think the V will be released 2012 more than 2013 that dont make no sense. If V were to release 2012 we would have more info by now but all we have is a 8 month old trailer and 2 lame screenshots.

2013 is much MUCH more likely.

I hear you out. However, at the this issue's core, more people are starting to see that there is much much more to this issue than GTAV information. There are far deeper underlying aspects to this speculation of 2012.

Many resort to the lazy argument that 2012ers just have their hopes up and are delusional. Yet, most here can appreciate R* taking their time with GTA.

Honestly, it would be best if R* just release a date for the game and put an end to this 2012/2013 thing. What's the point of talking about it anyway? We will get the game sooner or later and we all know that even if they announce a release date, most likely they will delay the game...so even if there is a lot more evidence for a 2012 release...it's R*,they do all sorts of random sh*t,they could release it 2014 if they wanted. Also, the share prices are the ones that are expected or planned by Take Two ,they can end up being different in alot of ways.

Considering the fact that we haven't even got a confirmation for 360 or PS3 to have it, i strongly believe its gonna be 2013/2014 suicidal.gif

If we're lucky then TakeTwo will announce the release date of GTA V on July 31st. They chances are relatively good. icon14.gif

I don't know how relevant this is, and it probably doesn't matter but BESTBUY says it will be available for pickup on 12/31/12 ( written how we write dates in the U.S. )
