andresgimp
Polls results (now, 16th july 2012 22:22 GMT) seem to indicate what people wish for instead of what they think the release date will be. IMO: 2013 for sure. I hope for surprise 2012 release as I think most of us do, but I'll be happy with March 2013. Just hoping that they won't delay it to October................................ 2013 Edited July 16, 2012 by andresgimp
jumper2011
Everyone whot voted for 2012 just WANTS it to come 2012. It will never come out 2013. @initium Well im sick of giving the same arguments again and again.... Every game from Rockstar has been release in april or March (on this generations consoles, ps3 and xbox360). And the second point is that they didnt even start with their marketing yet. SL1DE
Is this poll asking whether 2012 is a better year than 2013? Because we have not yet experienced 2013 so how are we supposed to know which year is better? OP did not mention what this thread is about... Even though it's obvious, I wanted to be a smartass. Finn 7 five 11
In before all the major Blockbusters by releasing in October, i don't see them releasing Bioshock and GTA V at the same time especially when 40% of T2's profits are meant to come from Bioshock and the other 60% from Rockstar, we have gotten more information and Max Payne 3's campaign has about a month until all events and such are done (August 31st), once newswire posts stop about MP3 then GTA V information will start flowing. Remember San Andreas only had two months of marketing, less marketing means less money spent on marketing, and it didn't seem to make a big impact on sales back then. Hazelnot
Funny, I used to think it'll come out this year, but right now, all evidence indicates 2013. R* are always launching their games when they have the least competition, because that way they sell more. I'm not saying GTA is competing with CoD, but many gamers are going to spend lots of money on CoD and Bioshock and AC III, and not all may make GTA V a priority. Verdant
For me it is slightly hard to decide. I still have hopes up for 2012 I have to admit. Rockstar Games might pull a GTA SA on this one. Release a trailer with a release date and Bam, 2 months until the game comes out. Sure, we have only had 2 screenshots practically this year so far. Overall, this is my Prediction. We are all predicting here, so no one go spaz about all of this. I have said this on many topics and I am going to say it again. GTA V was on pre order for me, and other countries as well since the beginning of the year I believe. Now I know Duke Nukem's Pre Order was for a very very long time till the game released but I don't see Rockstar Games doing something like that. I am looking between a late 2012 release to a mid 2013 release. Maybe the game will get delayed? But I don't think Rockstar Games will get into the delaying situation IV had. LotusRIP
Was this topic really necessary? Everyone keeps coming in here thinking they're going to make the thread to be all end all. I see 0% chance. 2013 it is. Extremely weak argument... -For one, R* released Midnight Club LA in 2008; the same year (only 5 months after) as GTAIV so you can throw the "one game a year" theory out the window. -Two, can any of you 2013ers give a logical argument other than "we don't have our info yet" ? -Three, MP3 was virtually none existent compared those other titles in terms of revenue. Linki
October '12 is what I'm very much hoping for. Very, very much. But here's some things that are bugging me: 1. What about the Max Payne 3 DLCs? Won't those overlap with GTAV? 2. Is 2012 really the year of Max Payne 3? It makes sense, with Rockstar having one game for one year. And what game is going to be for 2013 anyway? GTAV is the only one I can think of. 3. October is rapidly approaching and the gap to advertise is closing in fast. Dismiss these doubts. Please. I just did, a couple of posts before yours. I saw. GTA isn't fresh in peoples minds like AC and COD, but most of the gaming market respects the series as a must-buy. Worst case scenario, GTAV will just accumulate the sales regardless over a longer period of time. Even most COD fanboys I personally know say that BO2 looks retarded and are smart enough to see that it's is getting old and played out. Times are slow economically; but chances are if you can afford a few hundred dollars for a console and/or a $1000+ PC, then you can afford more than one game in a single holiday season. Sure, here and here and you would think it would be common sense that a game with very little information (in fact, hardly no information at all) wouldn't be released in a matter of a few months. Also, 2013 for reasons I have stated previously (see the two linked posts).

Also, 2013 for reasons I have stated previously (see the two linked posts). At least you seemed to have put a good amount of thought into it but I still say that lacking info isn't a factor right now. GTASA had it's first trailer released in August and released in October. Yeah, there was info out before the trailer in magazines and what not, but the only reason that didn't happen with V was MP3. So there you have it, official R* promotion doesn't always drag out for 5-7 months. In fact, they have a history of not doing so specifically with a GTA game. 2013 release wouldn't be utterly shocking, but it is still unlikely and definitely isn't the target time for release. KrushLTx10
Around Early-Mid August is the shutting of the window for info to be released to back up my hopes of an October release. If nothing happens by then, it'll be a 2013 game. It seems like people (like myself) who are hoping for an October release are asking for too much. Look, this game does not need a marketing campaign. Hell, all it would need is one single photo with the release date on it for people to go beserk. Even if the the release date was a week from the photo release people will RUSH out to preorder and buy it. GTA sells itself. Whether or not some people fail to see that not all games need a marketing campaign. I'm not writing out a 2013 release, but a 2012 release is still possible. If an October Release Date is happening this is my prediction: A) When the date for the GI Cover Reveal comes swinging around... Andy and Andrew will post the September Cover Issue on twitter and it will have something like "Welcome Back To Los Santos" at the top with a picture of in-game Santa Monica with palm trees around the borders or something GTA V related. B) More unlikely, but R* releasing a short trailer with the release date in it this month or August. If a 2013 release is going to happen, we will not see info this Summer. If we get nothing at all about GTA V by mid September we can kiss 2012 goodbye.

esvi
@canttakemyid the point isn't if you think Max Payne 3 is a major game or success for Rockstar it's what's Rockstar think this game is. And R* thinks it's THAT kind of game. FACTS : -Q&A revealed GTAV WAS NOT READY YET "not showing anything for a while yet" "busy working on the game" -Multiplayer Events, DLC until this winter R* wants MP3 to keep on living thanks to the multiplayer hence the DLC and I dare say, they want to maintain the multiplayer so they can sell their DLC they want a long run game, they want to sell it on a long period. The Emphasis won't fade away until december AND, ONE THING IS FOR SURE R* WON'T PREVENT THEMSELVES FROM SELLING DLC's And FORMOST, R* WON'T EVER organize the premature desterting of their own game Only chance to sell DLCs, keep on selling MP3 games, is to maintain the multiplayer Once V is out. NO MORE multiplayer for MP3, you gotta be realistic with this one There is NO f*ckIN CHANCE R* does that to himself. Get over it. "Still busy working on the game" "no trailer 2 for a while" "might give you some more screenshots"* does that sound like an 2012 release? I mean before November? I don't think so. As much as i'm hoping for it though. *that's only "future" we have for V thus far. Might give some screenshot is that sounding like the start of a massive marketing campaign for R* game of this caliber? NO. What have you in the current games? spread out release dates. I feel like GTA doesn't move out of the way for any game on R*'s schedule, it's likely the other way around. Besides, I don't know what there was to learn from that period either. Whatever sales MCLA lost in 08 weren't due to IV being in the way. It was from R* thinking they could keep making mediocre racing games in the presences of Forza, Gran Tursimo, PGR, and even NFS. It's sad too because R* could make a quality racing game if they put their minds to it. *Also, those MP3 DLCs are likely just being released because R* has the content to sell.
