Funktipus
Saw Godzilla Friday night, loved it, plan on seeing it again. There are many 'easter eggs' which pay homage to the Toho films. It shows Michael Doughtery is an obvious fan who did his homework. Bear McCreary's soundtrack(which uses some of the classic Toho themes) is top-notch. The critics have been harsh, but I never pay attention to critics. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 39%(audience score 86%), yet they gave Last Jedi high marks, so there you go). Us fans just want to see the Big G do his thing. Stay past the ending credits....it sets up next year's finale in the Monsterverse.
Grotti Vigilante
Seen the American sequel, King of the Monsters today. It was okay, but not great. To be honest though, now I'm confident that next year's Godzilla vs Kong will require some really good writing to make sure it's not a one-sided battle. I mean from the start we knew that Kong stood no chance.
el carlitos
Saw it last night. I did like it. I got what I was expecting. The Monster design and the battles were epic. The characters were quite unfunny and no very deep story. But it´s not the point in such film. Story is good enough to explain the Monster battle. Soundtrack was perfect, based on the original from the old Japan movies . I give a 7,5/10. I can´t imagine a plausible story for the Kong vs Godzilla movie and also can´t imagine a better fight than against Ghidorah.
Richard Power Colt
I've heard some mixed opinions on this. Some people loved it saying that it delivered all the awesome monster fights they wanted and some have said that the human characters interrupt the fights too much. I'll go see it for myself, but I was kinda hoping that this movie would just go all in with the monster fights instead of pretending like we give a sh*t about the humans. RARusk
After having seen it myself I believe that this movie has much more in common with Godzilla: Final Wars than Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster. Breakneck pace, lots of monster action, untidy plot, battle in Antarctica, and some other things that might be too spoilery for those who haven't seen KOTM yet. "One day I will think of this as just another job. After all, this is what I do."

If you look forward to Monster fight you shouldn´t be disappointed. The fights are epic. I guess the people that don´t like the film did expect a deep story with deep characters. In fact this movie is what it should. Film is not perfect, but good enough. You will get a bad ass Godzilla. People that watched the old movies will like it also because of the soundtrack. While I'm not a huge fan of his, I saw Angry Joe's review of the film and he was really pissed off about it saying that there wasn't enough monster fighting which got me a little worried going in. But now that I have seen the film, I can say he made it sound way worse than it is. I do agree that there are times in the film where I wish they just cut back to the monster fighting instead of showing the humans and I didn't really care much about the whole family drama. But still it felt like there was way more screen-time given to the monsters than in the last film and overall I had a pretty fun time. I also kinda liked the human element in this more than the last film. The family stuff was lame and the jokes weren't funny, but all the more sciencey stuff they explained about how the monster ecosystem works and whatnot were fairly interesting. I agree, and I think that's an American thing. The fights go on much longer in the Japanese films.
Pocket Fox
I appreciated that the monsters in this were being slammed by conventional weapons, and just shrugged it off. Like how Godzilla movies in Japan are. But the western adaptations always had a creature the size of a mountain... dodging missiles... which felt dumb. In the film, the monsters just shrug off all that ordnance. Much more on point with Japanese kaiju films. Funktipus

Craigsters
I ordered Godzilla: King of the Monsters from payperview last night, started to fall asleep during it, so I shut it off and well continue later on today to try and watch it to the end, I found they where taken to long to set of thing's and explaining the 17 creatures and get to the action, to many underground bases and close up scenes made me tired and fall asleep!.. el carlitos
This is too epic On 6/6/2019 at 1:50 PM, el carlitos said: I can´t imagine a plausible story for the Kong vs Godzilla movie and also can´t imagine a better fight than against Ghidorah. Replying to myself. Well after that trailer I can imagine a plausible story for this fight and I can imagine a more epic fight than against King-Ghidorah. It seem that Godzilla is going nuts and humans "ask" Kong for help. Questions is why is Godzilla attacking humans, when he was kind of protector in the last movies. Something is provoking him if not even controlling him. Also how bad ass is Kong in that trailer, check minute 02:15, going to be epic. Only regret, can´t imagine cinemas will open here that soon and I don´t have HBO Edited January 28, 2021 by el carlitos

Jason
It is exactly as you'd expect. Human parts bad, monster parts good. I loved every second of it... when monsters were on screen. So-so when it was only humans. Arrows to Athens

It's not nearly as good as Kong: Skull Island was but it's quite a bit better than either of the Godzilla movies were. My only real gripe is that there's really lengthy subplot involving Millie Bobby Brown, Brian Tyree Henry, and the kid from Deadpool 2 that serves no purpose. They could have cut it all out and would have only had to make minimal changes to the actual plot. Changes that probably would have made the story quite a bit better. Jason
I really didn't mind the kid human plot - I won't go into details to avoid spoilers, but that whole subplot I think is the only human sublot they needed. The Millie Bobby Brown stuff was 100% completely pointless though, I agree. The last part did put a smile on my face though, it was very fun to watch. The monster parts were decent. The film dragged on for a bit too long. I've just downloaded Godzilla vs. Kong and will be watching it tonight. Hopefully, it's better than the last one. Funktipus
As a hardcore G-fan, the only time I cared about the human element was Dr. Serizawa in the 1954 original. I think many fans feel the same.
Is this The Guy?
Tried watching Kong vs Godzilla but I fell asleep through it. It was just kind of boring to me and, well from what I watched, was no different from the last two really. But when I woke up it was near the end which was pretty action packed. Will maybe try again later.
