There is absolutely no way they can market GTA and get it out by October, it's impossible even by R* standards. But then I have another question what about Bioshock infinite? That's scheduled for February 2013 and if TT want their $2 a share by the end of their thingo they need GTA out before the end of March otherwise their stuffed but then isn't February and March too close to release 2 blockbuster games? (Bioshock not so much) gah I don't know...! What if their announcement of $2 a share by end of their next quarter was actually because of Bioshock Infinite's release on Feb 2013? And GTA V don't come out till Oct 2013? That being said, I still have hopes of an Oct release this year, but it's quickly diminishing since the Q&A session and the closer we are to Oct without much info. Bioshock Infinite isn't Rockstar Games... and they said 60% of all money would come from Rockstar Games.. and Rockstar Games has nothing on schedule right now.. only GTA V is possible Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

No early October, because 2K releases NBA 2K13 on October 2nd, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown on October 9th 2012. No February 2013 or March 2013, because it would be too close to BioShock Infinite which releases 26th February 2013. Now there you go! Quite right. I strongly believe in a Fall 2012 release. Most people keep forgetting that Rockstar is a business and businesses make money. That said, there is no way that Max Payne will be able to make the 1 billion dollars that Rockstar is suppose to cough up for TTwo and it's investors. Maybe Max Payne is a great game (I haven't played it so I have no honest opinion) but the point is that Max Payne alone is not going to get 1 billion dollars. It needs another game and it needs to come out before March 2013. Any later and Rockstar will be in major trouble because there will be angry fans and angry investors/shareholders. Besides, the one thing that Rockstar has said that is most likely true is that they won't really announce anything at all. They will surprise us, probably with an October/November 2012 release because most think they need six months. Believe me, with how most people's attention spans are, a 2-4 month campaign is all that is needed with a game series like GTA. You don't want to wait six to eight months for something because that will drive you crazy. It's best to not know until it's almost time and Rockstar most likely knows that. Take Two probably gave Rockstar North a deadline due to the overall hype of the game. Sleeping Dogs is coming out August 14 and that game looks amazing as wIell. They know Sleeping Dogs will be a sleeper hit. Rockstar and Take Two want this game out for profit and gains for the fiscal 2013 year. A lot of us know this. This is the beginning of the marketing of this great game I bet.I've been showing co-workers the two new screenshots and they are now hyped for this game. I believe Rockstar wants this game out as soon as possible. As I type this, I presume that Rockstar staff are at their work stations putting the finishing touches to this game. Personally i don't think Sleeping Dogs will be a sleeper hit and i hiiiiiighly doubt Rockstar is afraid or even cares about the game. Alot of stuff looks really nice about that game, but if GTA V were to come out around the same time...well...poor United Front Games, cause GTA V would demolish Sleeping Dogs' sales. Sleeping Dogs seems to have alot of potential but also something about the game screams 'just ok' to me, not an incredible game. The missions so far have been either beating folks up or shooting them up. This normally ain't a problem for open world games, but the shooting has to be fun and judging by how the shooting looks in the movies..it doesn't seem all too special and fun. Time will tell. What's important is that Sleeping Dogs provides enough variety in the missions and that it stays fun outside of the missions. As for the release date of GTA V, October is way too close. If these theories are true that they start marketing and giving info three months before release, they have to start with that pretty damn soon...and i just don't see it happening. And it would be the very very first time that they would do this kind of drastic marketing...only three months before release? No way. This is the last christmas for this gen consoles so i think they will probs release oct-nov-dec no matter what games they are competing against. theworldfamous Posted July 15, 2012 Share Posted July 15, 2012 The 'next gen' doesn't mean anything for GTA -sony and microsoft have plans to support the older consoles for a long time into the 'next generation'.. they've both sunk way too much money into to just drop it a start fresh. So there's likely still games coming out for them for a couple of years. -the user base of any next gen console is going to start out very small.. it'll take a while before it's large enough to make big games like GTA profitable, unless either platform holder manages to snatch Rockstar for a very expensive exclusive. That way, the die-hards can purchase the games and post videos of their axe-crazy shenanigans, some gullible journos can run stories about the new 'murder-simulator that teaches kids the ins and outs of car-jacking and drugrunning' or what have you. A bunch of kids will think that's awesome, put it on their Christmas wish list. Lots of dancing and champagne amongt Rockstar shareholders. Didn't SA release in November or something like that? You can keep dreaming about an October release since we dont have anything except 1 trailer and 2 lame screenshots and October is only about 2 months away. More like sometime in 2013. SA's first trailer came out two months before it was released. your argument is invalid. Eat it. Because SA's trailer was released later in the games development. GTA V doesn't look anywhere near completed. Your thesis lacks merit as it is based on the assumption that "GTA V doesn't look anywhere near completed. " Those screens could be from a long time ago for all we know. Or it could be rendered on an inferior machine. I'm not talking about graphics, but based on the trailer the game doesn't look near completed, another poster above mentioned that there aren't many cars seen spawning in the trailer, of course I could be wrong but there isn't much to suggest the game is near complete either. Hell, either way the game is still probably set for a 2013 release, people are getting their hopes up and are probably gonna be crused. If anything, a December release is more reasonable. Yeah, but that was 8 months ago. Don't you think R* fix that and any bug you see in the trailer by now? Plus they got other developers to help them out! also, in the screenshot you see that their are flying a helicopter, so the game probably playable and doing some polishing by now!
