Man I really need to finish Season 2. I loved Season 1 but the first episode of 2 bored me to ears and the 22 episodes looked daunting; but this is encouraging.

Finish it. About 3/5 of the way through Season 2 sh*t gets interesting again... on the supernatural side though.

If you don't finish Season 1 and 2 you won't follow Season 3.

It's just that the first season was moving at a slow dreamy sort of pace [which worked!] but it had just enough episodes for it to work. At 22 episodes for the second season it just seemed like a lot of filler was being thrown in and the first episode of S2 focused on all the characters I didn't care much for so I just stopped and put it on my ''to watch'' list again. With season 3 i'll probably end up watching S2 to completion over a week or two.

If I remember correctly Lynch had pressure put on him to reveal who killed Laura Palmer earlier than expected. Some people said that after Laura Palmer's murderer was revealed that was the end of it.

Season 3 in my opinion shows how Twin Peaks can be expanded upon to be something that ties up Laura Palmer and the events surrounding her death into something even more.

I really am so anxious to see the next episode which is 2 weeks away (I've seen 3 and 4 already as they are on demand).

Damn, I was hoping the fan theory of Mulholland Drive being connected to Twin Peaks would've come true after watching all four episodes.

Won't spoil it but I think RARusk knows what I'm talking about and how that theory gets debunked in episodes 3-4.

Been watching Twin Peaks the Return, WTF is going on? Style over substance? Any cohesive storyline? Please illuminate me, those who have seen this series...

I haven't seen the first two seasons for a while, but I'm pretty much as lost as you.

That Michael Cera cameo hurt me inside.

This is David Lynch you're talking about - you just strap in and enjoy the ride, I'm sure things will sort themselves out soon. BTW, because I don't have Showtime, I can't watch the show but I do plan on getting the Blu-Ray of the series when it becomes available. Hopefully they'll have a deluxe set with the entire three season run plus all versions of the pilot.

Twin Peaks has always been about atmosphere, over the top characters, absurd dialog, and just overall weirdness.

I've yet to watch the return. I'm about two thirds through the first two seasons.

I love the Return. In fact I enjoy it more than the original show which I also watched recently. It feels like they really let David Lynch loose with this one and it's quite unlike any other TV show I've watched.

That's because Showtime is premium cable - you can pretty much do whatever you want which was probably the big appeal. Although ABC allowed David to do his thing back then they also got in the way too which is how Season Two got to be the way it did. They also chickened out on Mulholland Dr. which forced David to complete it as a movie instead of a series as was originally planned. Probably not a bad thing though.

Cooper's back from his stasis.

It's also now coming to an end. 5 more days and it's all over (at least, no news of another season has been announced; so, I'll assume that's the end).

So uhh... what you guys think about that finale?

I don't really mind that it left a lot of questions unanswered. This kind of ending will keep people talking about it a lot more and I think the analysts out there might be able to make some sense of it.

As one door closes another one opens...

I think that's Twin Peaks summed up.

But yeah, it's a good series. If another season happens I doubt you'll get full closure as that's not what Lynch is into normally.

I finally muscled my way through season 2. Watched half of the first episode of the return. It's missing that backing music. I wish they would have stuck with the same exact music you hear in the first series, and used it the same way. I just love it from the original series.

Other than that, I'm squealing when they showed Lucy, and Ben and Jerry Horne, and Deputy Hawk.

Edit: the Return would be much less awkward with the same underlying soundtrack, instead of no music at all, in some scenes. The introduction of Wally would've been perfect with this music...

I kinda liked the quiet awkwardness of some scenes in the Return. I thought it was funny.

Edit: I've read several theories on Reddit about this show, but holy sh*t I just found one that really puts things to a new perspective and actually seems really plausible:

https://www.reddit.com/r/twinpeaks/comments/6zol5v/s3e18_twin_peaks_explanation_430_is_the_key_to/

Basic idea is that it's a big meta story about TV and storytelling media itself. People pointed out more things that hint towards it in the comments.

Just finished watching Twin Peaks The Return, and I'm none the wiser. How Lynch can create a series, which makes absolutely no coherent sense is a miracle of some kind of madness, only he knows what goes on in that rats maze he calls a Brain ....but I can see the "Luvvie" arts world showering him with awards ,when really he should be locked up in a darkened room in a straight jacket for perpetuity...

I think you're aware but it's surrealist art and f*cking good surrealist art -- dreamlike. Wonderful visuals but you are on your own as to what you want to make of the art.

Sometimes dreams don't make any coherent sense but sometimes they do. That's Twin Peaks.

The N. Bellic Man

The Return was absolutely epic. Of course it's very hard for a casual viewers to get grip of Lynch's vision, but at least it's very original. It would be easy to follow the suit and do what is usually done by mediocre writers/directors. That is give fans what they want/try to create a carbon copy of the original series. But David Lynch doesn't do that. He has his own thing and this time he is fortunate enough to be able to create what he wants without an interference from a TV company.

Of course this season creates more questions than it gives answers, but I think that is the greatness/beauty of it. Kyle MacLachlan also gives rather good performance.
