Well sh*t, that's a lame way to get knocked out. Duncan might as well hang it up this Summer.. he's 40 now.

That Westbrook/Curry matchup is going to be all over the place though.

No doubt. Duncan had a good run. He is a 1st ballot HOF.

Sir Michael

Him and Kevin Garnett. He's just deadweight on Minnesota's cap space at this point, and he had a very noticeable decline after leaving Boston. He'll probably play one more year though, but he's been in the league for 20 years now. His career was great, no need to tarnish it with several sub-par seasons.

Duncan did what he needed to during the season, but in the playoffs it truly showed that maybe he should hang 'em up... but we shall see.

I bet Duncan does hang it up. He was getting run out of the gym last night.

If OKC wins the chip this year, I'd say it's probably the greatest playoff run, assuming they play cleavlend in the finals of course.

Well this playoff run isn't over. They have to beat the Warriors, who has the greatest single season team record, and if they do beat them, they go against the almight Eastern Cavs... with LeBron wanting to bring a championship to CLEVELAND, with the Cavs rolling on all cylinders aka being healthy and on a f*cking roll.

The Western Conference Finals and the NBA Finals should be magically.

Westbrook vs. Curry for at least 4 games... matchups matchups matchups.

Yea, congrats for getting this far but they won't get out of this round. I can see the Cavs winning in 5, maybe a sweep.

I agree. LeBron James is focused. Not sure that will mean a title though.

It could if Love and Irving take their games to the next level.

Not A Nice Person

The Rapters did really good, wow, they won't get past the Cavs though honestly.

Also if the Warriors win it'll be very shaky Lebron since Curry is already beating him in jersey sales.

Definitely not the best team ever.

Dude...'really? Good god, your hatered is f*cking annoying.

Thunder is the hottest team in the playoffs besides the Cavs. If Thunder can pull off another win in Golden State then they'll have so much momentum. But we shouldn't judge game 1's anymore after that SA/OKC series

If people get annoyed, then my goal has been met. However.......

No hate from me, just speaking truth. It's not hate if it's true. And that was an awful shot by Curry. Both fundamentally and selection wise. But that's what happens when you're so full of yourself that you go for the contested 3 instead of passing it for the wide open layup.

Twice late in the 4th, they missed the opportunity to get 2 easy wide open layups and instead went for the 3. And I don't think I need to tell people what happened to those two shots.... they missed lol

For one, Curry led the league in steals. The last time I checked, you only get those by stealing the ball away from the opposing team, you know, defending, something you say he can't do.

Actually, steals are not an indication of good defensive ability. It's an indication of quickness, but that's about it. You don't have to be good or even decent on the defensive side to get a ton of steals.

James Harden also had a sh*t ton of steals, 3rd most. I assume you think he's a good defensive player too?

I have to agree with him on one thing. Curry is incomplete as a player. He's a complete offensive player, but defensively he leaves a lot to be desired. So by definition, he's incomplete. It doesn't matter if he scores 40 per game, that won't eliminate his defensive deficiencies.

But, people are so blinded by their Curry hard-ons that they'll probably see this as "hating" and completely miss the point.

Curry reminds me a lot of Allen Iverson. Great offensive player, lackluster defensively.

They both get alot of steals, although AI was quicker than Curry.

Curry, like AI, go for the steal a lil bit too often. That results in him getting out of position and leaving his teammates to pick up his slack.

Curry, like AI, get overpowered pretty easily. That's due to them being undersized.

Curry is less "selfish" than AI though. But Curry also turns the ball over A LOT. Top 10 in the NBA. His position has a lot to do with that though. Still, that excuse only gets you so far. Specially when you turn the ball over more than you take it away (steals).

Doesn't matter.

A steal either ends with your team getting points or the opponent getting none for that possession, but usually the former.

Unanimous MVP, incomplete player... yup.

It's not hatred it's us dick ridding Curry.. maybe incomplete is the wrong wording for these guys? I don't know what to think anymore.

I guess people thinking/knowing you have no idea what you're talking about is a goal? Explains a lot..

Well, since his point is clearly over everyone's head, I think it's you guys who don't know what he's talking about.

Unanimous MVP or not, you cant be a complete player if you're only complete offensively.

Since he leaves a lot to be desired defensively, he can't by definition be a complete player.

I know, I'm asking people to understand simple things, like the meaning of the word complete. Maybe I'm asking too much.

Nobody is saying he's a bad player. He's a great offensive player. But not defensively. That's why he can't be a complete player. But, then you see stupid comments like these, by people who clearly demonstrate that they didn't get the point.

Unanimous MVP, incomplete player... yup.

Nah, he's incomplete. It's not like he scored an NBA record 17 points in overtime (reg. or postseason) after missing a couple weeks.

Neither one of you are bringing up a reasoning for why you think he's a complete player. At least not a reasonable reason. One brings up that he's MVP... which means f*ck all when talking about the completeness of a player. Did he win defensive player of the year?

The other brings up his offensive abilities , something that again was never argued that he lacked. Don't bring up steals again as a sign that he's a good defensive player, because that's not an indicator of a good defensive player.

Try to explain why he's a complete player, despite his lackluster defensive abilities. Here's a hint, it's impossible. Until he gets better at playing defense, he can't be called a complete player. Is that so f*cking hard to understand?

James Harden, great offensive player and gets lots of steals but still not good defensively. Incomplete player.

Allen Iverson, great offensive player and gets lots of steals (leader 3 times) but still not good defensively.

Steph Curry, great offensive player and gets lots of steals but still not good defensively.

Allen Iverson also won the MVP, but that doesn't make him or anyone else a complete player. He still left a lot to be desired defensively, just like Curry. But for some reason, people want to have a different set of criteria for Curry. That's just silly.

And if you want a different set of criteria for him, then yeah, you're "dick riding" Curry.

I don't see anyone "hating" on Curry. Reasonable criticism based in facts is not hating. Guess what, it's criticism, nothing else. Saying he's an average offensive player, that would be hating since it's not based in facts.

I'm a huge fan of Steph Curry, but I'm not blinded by my fandom.

I get the point he isn't a great defense player, but I won't call him incomplete... doing what he is doing on the court is opposite of incomplete. I guess that makes every point guard in the NBA "incomplete" because they can't beat or defend this guy.

Incomplete leaves a nasty taste in my mouth, especially when it comes ito Curry. I get the he isn't great defensively, but have fun finding a player of his caliber (and at the same position) who is complete. It's a stupid f*cking discussion/debate, considering what he has done in the past two seasons. I would never call A.I., Shaq, or even Steve Nash"incomplete"... But you know who is incomplete? Anthony Bennett. So I guess I'll be dick riding a few current NBA players.

I'd hate to be called dick rider but it is what it is, I won't call any great player incomplete, because the logic behind it is f*cking ridiculous. It's like calling Tom Brady incomplete because he isn't mobile... to me at least.

edit; a James Harden - Stephen Curry defensive comparison is... disrespectful.

Sir Michael

The "Defensive Player Of The Year" title is very rare for guards to earn. Ever since 1982, there's only been 6 years where a guard won the award, and out of those 6, only 5 guards in NBA history won the award: Sidney Moncrief, Alvin Robertson, Michael Cooper, Michael Jordan, and Gary Payton, the lone point guard in the group. Hell, Payton was the last guard to earn the award, and that was during the 95-96 season..

Edit #3: Here's an up-to-date list of Defensive Player of the Year winners:

The list is heavily dominated by centers with rare power forwards, with a few small forwards in the mix (Bad Boy-era Rodman, Ron Artest, and Kawhi Leonard).

Sk6VMjr.png

As for this whole "complete player" argument, it depends on a person's interpretation of the term "complete." Are we talking about someone who dominates all aspects of the game, or are we talking about somebody who embodies their position perfectly? If the former, there are very few players in the history of the league that fit that category: LeBron James and Scottie Pippen come to mind for their sheer versatility on the court, being able to guard any position and, if they wanted to, dominate on offense. If the latter, that argument is pretty loose as the role of each position has taken a bit of a swing since the 90's. We now have power forwards and centers expanding their game to mid-range shooting, and the backcourt positions all alternating their roles as the main ball handlers and scorers of the team. We have our fundamental definitions for each position of course, but fundamentals aren't exactly practiced too often in the modern NBA... outside of San Antonio anyway.

Alright Doom, I get your point of view and respect it. I guess we just have different definitions of what entails a complete player.

Here's my definition:

Let's put it like this.

If a wall on a house is partially missing, would you call that a complete house? No, you'd say that there's a hole in the house. Just like there's a hole in Curry's defensive game. Therefore, he can't be called a complete player. IMO.

So who's the "complete" point guard, in your terms?
