NBA Discussion

Recommended Posts

This could probably be discussed minus a poll in the NBA topic, but anyway.

LeBron. If he keeps playing in the paint like he did in the NBA Finals, he will be unstoppable. And now that he's got even more great shooters to pass to his assist totals after taking it inside and kicking it out will only get bigger. He's the best player in the game at the moment. This is biased as a Heat fan but just how I feel.

Gotta agree with you on that. LeBron has been the best player for a few years in my opinion. And he only continues to get better. Although I think Kevin Durant will win because I think people will vote for him. Unless of course Jalen Rose is correct in saying LeBron is going to average a triple double this year haha. Then it'd be a crime to deny him the award haha

I doubt he will average a triple double. I mean, it would be amazing to see, but Oscar Robertson did it back when a lot of players averaged a lot more boards perfume than they do now. The game was faster and more paint oriented as there was no 3 point line.

Oscar basically was a player of today averaging a points-assists double double. Still, I'd love for him to do it, it would be amazing. He really isn't that far off at the moment but it would be next level sh*t if he did.

Anyways, 1 day to first tip!

I don't think he will either, but hey who knows. If there's a guy who could do it, it's him. He's got Ray Allen to pass to now, which also opens things up for other guys, so the assists go up. His rebounding was much improved in the playoffs last year, almost averaging 10 rebounds a game. So who knows.

Most likely he won't. The Big O was amazing, though. Would've been nice to see him play

It's sad to see James Harden go, it really is. But ultimately Harden wouldn't accept the offer OKC gave him and instead of losing him at the end of the year we get value for him. Bringing Kevin Martin is good, has always been a good scorer but injuries is what makes him inconsistent through a full season. I'm curious if we will start Thabo and just bring Martin off of the bench.

Excited for the two first round picks we received as well, can maybe get another great young player in the future or just get more value out of them.

I would like to see Kevin Durant win the MVP, and it could be arguable if he repeats last year but a little better. But if LBJ can manage to average a triple double per game he would be hands down MVP. That's similar to getting a triple crown in baseball, just something you don't see every 30-40 years.

I like how you guys got Jeremy Lamb. He is going to be good.

I heard Boston wanted Ray back, but he was ticked at Celtics management, and he can't stand Rajon Rondo.

Now it's six to eight weeks for Amar'e....

They even offered him more money than Miami. He just wants to end his career with a title, and came up with the Rondo excuse to why he left.

Amar'e is just an injury machine. 2-3, "well dang that sucks". 3-6 weeks, "oh wow, I thought it was only a couple?" 6-8, "well damn, a month and a half??"

James was having cramps in the second half.

doesn't matter though, they basically cruised past Boston after taking their first lead and never really let the Celtics get close.

but the story of the night?

Ray Allen went to hug or shake the hands of most of his former team mates. when he slapped Kevin Garnett on the back, KG didn't even move, didn't even look at him.

COLD shoulder lol.gif

Honestly, I'll be surprised if LeBron makes it through the whole season without missing atleast 10 games either through injury or rest enforced by the coaching staff. He has pretty much played high pressure basketball non-stop since the playoffs last year began, playing all the way through the playoffs, and then being part of a successful Olympic campaign. By then he would have pretty much been straight into pre-season training with the Heat

This would have had something to do with the minutes he got tonight. Expect to see more of it this year, especially if they can get a lead.

Great point, he got 9 days off this summer smile.gif So yeah, he's been busy for a solid year or so with nonstop basketball. I expect him to miss a few games, but hopefully no drastic injuries.

And I'm not sure if tonight was the new Celtics, the new Heat, or both? Is the famed Celtics D a thing of the past? Or is the Heat offense really that good, even without LeBron for a good portion of the game.

And how about them Mavs, huh? No Dirk, no problem. Although I will say, Kobe shooting 79% from the field is astounding. **The loyal Suns fan in me does have to mention his 0 assists though biggrin.gif

The story of the night was Eddy Curry actually looking like a basketball player instead of the Blob. It would have been nice if that lazy f*** was in shape during his time in NY.

As for Amar'e, he's just about done.

LOL@ David Stern referring to Hurricane Sandy as 'Hurricane Katrina'. Talk about EPIC FAIL.

What are you talking about, sir? Heat had a 19 point lead when LeBron left the court, maybe even more, and the Celtics brought it back to 4 points. Tells you what he does for a team.

I'm impressed with James Harden. I didn't think he would jump out of the gates like this, and now it officially sucks that he is in the same division as we are (Thunder). I wish management could've gotten him in the East somewhere, not 6-7 hours away.

Exactly, if LeBron can produce as well as he did last night without having to be on the court for a longer time in the game, he will explode when the playoffs come around. If he puts the game beyond doubt or close to that, he will be able to keep on being pulled out early to keep him healthy.

As for Harden, fantastic start with a new team, shows just how good he is. He also would have learnt alot by being with the Olympic team, so all the offseason experience has really helped him excel.

I'm not saying they don't need LeBron, I'm just saying they put up 120 points and he only played 28 minutes. He didn't play most of the 2nd half and they still put up 58 points.

His +/- was +12. They won by 13. Meaning even if LeBron didn't play the Heat were still in that game. Bad news for the league.

And WOW, James Harden. Did not expect him to put up numbers like that. He had more assists (12) is his debut than Iggy had points (11) in his. Rockets fans must be feeling pretty happy eh?

Horrible start from OKC. They started where they left off... having way too many turnovers. Doesn't help leaving Tony Parker wide the f*ck open for the game winning shot.

Yeah, idk what Russell was doing on that final play. Or for the entire game for that matter. Westbrook needs to be more of a facilitator, I think, for the Thunder to reach their full potential. Because while Kevin Martin and James Harden are both good shooters, Martin isn't as good at getting his own shot or getting others involved. So Russell needs to be that guy getting everyone involved. The Thunder don't have that guy as of right now.

Think James Hardenis trying to prove a point? That cat is on FIYAH! Solid game by Lin too.

Like Jeremy Lin, it's amazing how a guy like Steve Novak just fell through the cracks and clicked in NY. Think of all the cats who never get in the right situation.

Knicks are 1-0 - break out the champagne! Much better ball movement and defense. I agree with what Coach Woodson said after the game - everyone will benefit from having Jason Kidd on this team.

I don't know what to say about the Heat. They just seemed sluggish in attack, and it was like they had one less man on the floor in defense at times.

Although, nothing could stop Melo in the first quarter. He shot a 3 over 3 defenders at once. Pulled up at the line, waited for them, and nailed it.

I admit, I loved the New York fans chanting "Rasheed Wallace! Rasheed Wallace!". I actually forgot that they picked him up, he got a few boards and splashed a three pointer or at least a long two.

I'm diggin' OKC finally got their win, and it was here in OKC. I plan on going to that OKC/Toronto game on Tuesday if I can get a couple hours off of work.

Maybe one of you guys can help me here...

I'm in the UK. I got the subscription to NBA TV hoping to catch some of the games this season online, without having to buy the league pass. Right now, (Nov 3rd) apparently, according to this national TV schedule Toronto @ Brooklyn is meant to be showing right now on NBATV. (7.30pm EST / 12.30am GMT) It's very definitely not. It's some recap on the Spurs...

But however they are advertising showing Spurs vs Jazz. A game that isn't even on that table. I can't decipher that Broadcast schedule at all...? Are there any clearer ones anyone knows of?

Edited by kippers.

So yeah I was watching that Lakers/Clippers game on Friday...and my goodness is their bench deep! Looking forward to seeing them play in the post-season. Also, RIP to Metta World Peace's ankles lmao.

My Bulls are 2-1 right now. Barkley called it a washed season, but he forgot the Bulls have chemistry. They lost confidence in the first round of the playoffs last year, now they regained it. Believe or not, Bulls' bench has improved from last season. Robinson isn't such a selfish player unlike John Lucas III and Belinelli can come off the bench as an all-around player.

I got chills watching the Derrick Rose ad during the Heat/Celtics game....ESPN calling Heat/Celtics a rivalry now...but wait until D. Rose steps back on that court. One hungry mofo chasing a championship.

I think he was referring to Rose's season when he called it a wash wasn't he? He didn't think he would be able to make a return yet this year.

It's early but it looks like I could have been wrong about the Knicks, but we'll see, something is bound to happen with them, heh.

WOW @ Wolves over the Nets tonight. What a great 4th quarter from them.. It was exciting seeing everyone putting in work.
