Lebron opting out is a message to Pat Riley and Mickey Aaronson to strengthen the supporting cast. It's a strategy move.

 

Knicks are about to trade Felton & Chandler to the Mavs for Dalembert, Calderon, Larkin and two first round picks.

 

Chris Broussard says Carmelo will visit Dallas, Houston & Chicago once free agency begins.

Some pretty odd choices in the draft so far. Not sure what some of these teams are thinking.

 

Celts picked Marcus Smart. Hopefully they're gonna use him to try and get K-Love.

This draft annoyed me for the Celtics although you gotta think something is going to happen. Either they use Smart as a chip in a deal for Love or the trade Rondo for a bunch of guys and make Smart the point guard. I have no idea though. I wanted Julius Randle since Embiid didn't work out but of course they couldn't even get him even though he was available.

James, Wade and Bosh opt out. I've read LeBron wants a max contract still, I was thinking he'd take a pay cut. I'd assume Wade will take a rather large pay cut, a long with Bosh. I thought they made a great move in getting Napier, bringing in a playmaker at point.

 

I don't think they'll make a huge splash in Free Agency this year, but if they devise a plan right, next year could be a big year for Miami to bring in key piece... Love, Rondo maybe even Aldridge.

Good job by them trading up for Shabazz Napier. After his freshman year at UConn and Kemba Walker left, he was the real leader of that team. Good pick up by the Heat.

 

Regarding free agency and the Heat, Chris Bosh will likely opt out by tomorrow, along with Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Udonis Haslem. I agree, I definitely see Wade taking a large pay cut and I could see Bosh taking a fairly sizable pay cut, as well. Haslem opting out will probably save them a couple million off his current contract, too.

 

Despite all of this, I don't think they could get LaMarcus Aldrige. Love and Rondo, maybe. If Love gets traded to a team, he will re-sign with them, that's why the Cleveland trade never happened, because he said he wouldn't re-sign with them. Rondo could happen if Ray Allen retires, but he has also said he hates LeBron and Wade. Money can change things, but I don't see that one happening. I think just getting a solid supporting cast is their best bet.

This is the era of buying championships. I don't care what reports say I think Melo will be taking his talents to south beach. Wouldn't shock me if they get Lowry too despite that false report by Bucher. With all the bird rights to these guys they own they're in a perfect situation. Plus those guys have shown they're willing to take payouts. It's scary. The league really needs to increase the reward for staying with your original team...

Would be crazy to see Melo in Miami, don't think it will happen in a million years. He wants to stay in NY for sure, but do they have enough to contend now? Not in my opinion. If he's smart he goes to Chicago; stay in the weak Eastern Conference, best defensive center in the game, maybe best all around center right now the way Noah played last year, especially since he can distribute. Only other option is Houston, but they already allow 190 points a game lol

A deal has been done for two years. I thought Kidd fit Brooklyn well, but he wants more control. At least he has Jabari Parker to work with.

 

The thought of Carmelo going to Miami would be enticing, and I'd think he'd be a full if he didn't or hasn't pondered the thought of going to South Beach. He'd be that driving force LeBron needs when he wants to be the distributor or if he just needs someone to score. Carmelo would have to adapt to being number two, which if we remember the Denver days with Allen Iverson, there's a chance it won't end well.

 

Chicago would be the smartest move and Dallas being the dumbest. Dallas is old, very old and I'd think he would be in the same boat he's in now, with the Knicks, if he jumped shipped to Dallas. Maybe one year to contend then it's back to a blueprint to build a team around Melo.

Dwayne Wade has agreed to a four-year deal with the Heat. He'll earn $12M next season (nearly a $10M cut from his prior deal).

Chris Bosh has agreed to a five-year deal with Miami starting with $11M next season.

Meanwhile, LBJ is likely to ink a max contract with Miami but for 1-2 years.

That comparison is a bit exaggerated... it's not like Kidd is coming in as a complete dud, plus Bucks didn't even win 20 games so they need to do something. Jason Kidd has the potential to be a great head coach, only time will tell.

I'd rather go sign Chauncey as a head coach than Kidd when Detroit doesn't pick up his contract. He should go be a assistant somewhere to get experience though.
