Also, so much for breaking the NBA record for the most 7 games series in one post season. Cock tease with 5 during the first round!

Unless the Heat pull a miracle but I don't see it happen, they could've easily have been swept.

He seriously looks like he can play 3-4 more seasons. Let him play 20-25 min per during the season then unleash the kraken come playoff time.

Try to find a succesor at his position that Tim can nurture for a few seasons.

Heat. are. f*cked. I didn't really care who won, I like the Spurs as a team and organization but I would've liked to see Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis get a ring.

Sir Michael

Talk about an ass-whooping.. Miami got worked. Spurs are the new champs! :O

And Kawhi Leonard won finals MVP, the youngest one to do so since Tim Duncan in 1999. He easily deserved it, had a slow start in the finals but without his emergence the Spurs would have never won it.

And Tim Duncan becomes the first player to win the NBA in three different decades.

I called it spurs the new champs. Well inwasnt expecting 5 games but a win is win. What I'm most surprising is how many people doubted the spurs cause of Thier age but they got it done. Miami's loss wasn't on lebron he played well. Congrats to Lenored he deserved the MVP.

Second. John Salley did it first, might know him from the show 'The Best Damn Sport Show Period.' Four championship rings, with three different teams, in three different decades and two different millenniums.

Duncan's is more impressive to do all of that with one team and win one more. Salley could've won two more if he didn't retire during the Lakers first of its three-peat.

Probably the worst NBA finals in history, they got lucky not to be swept but to lose 3 straight games with a combined point differential of 57 is just bad(I think the record is 60 but kind of skewed considering the 3rd loss was only 6 points: 1977 Philadelphia)

Miami got worked.. must be a deja vu for LeBron.

Spurs were dominant in all aspects and it showed. Duncan, Ginobili, Parker and Pop are HOF'ers and will be remembered forever. We'll be tellin' our kids and grand kids about this team.

Technique over talent.

WOW! Congratulations to the San Antonio Spurs. A phenomenal game 5. Team play prevailed and the Finals have shown just how weak the Eastern Conference was this year too. The Heat pretty much destroyed everyone in the East and then got annihilated by the Spurs.

The Heat came out determined to win and were led by James' scoring. In the 2nd quarter, when James stopped scoring, the entire Heat offense collapsed and the Spurs simply took over the game. It just proves that 2014 Heat are no more than an average team when James isn't carrying the load on both ends of the court. This Heat team is the Cavs 2.0, they reminded me of the Cleveland teams back in 2007 - 2010, when no one except LeBron really stepped up in the Playoffs. It's the same thing now with the Heat; Bosh disappeared (14ppg, 5rpg in the series), Wade declined so much he was not even a factor on defense in these Finals (15ppg-4rpg-3apg), Allen did an ok job considering his age, and as for the rest of the Miami team, they did not produce at all.

On the other hand we have the Spurs, possibly the best team since 1997 or so (except for the 2001 LAL). They shot 52,8% from the field, which is a NBA Finals record (1991 Bulls shot 52,7% against the Lakers). Here is what some of the Heat stars had to say about them; Chris Bosh: "Best team I ever saw. Best team I ever played against.", LeBron James: "That's how team basketball should be played." Almost every member of this team preformed and stepped up in these Finals. Leonard deserved to win the Finals MVP award as he scored 18ppg on 61% shooting while doing a great job guarding James. He reminds me of Scottie Pippen who was a great defender and a reliable high percentage scorer. All in all the Spurs were in control during the entire series and so were in this game. They completely destroyed the Heat's chances in the 3rd when Manu and Mills got hot.

It will be interesting to see what will happen this off season. There are rumors that the Heat are going to break apart (LeBron going back to Cleveland, Wade playing poorly). On the other hand, there is talk about Melo coming to the Heat…

I think LeBron stays and Miami retools to provide him a better supporting cast.

The bigger question this off-season is - What Will Carmelo Do? Chicago? Miami? Houston? NY? I can't see him staying with the Knicks - bad owner, bad infrastructure, no cap relief, no draft pick....they're not winning anytime soon.

If LeBron wants to stay the big need to take paycuts, I really hopw their ego will not get in the way, considering (as of right now) Bosh and Wade are extremely over-paid.

I'd personally like to see LeBron move around, would be interesting.

Not only are they overpaid but they're not that good anymore. LBJ can't do it all.

I think Melo should sign with Chicago. They have great defense, but they need a better offense to actually make it somewhere. Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Carmelo Anthony... that's a championship right there.

If Melo goes to Miami I highly doubt they'll win a championship. I don't see LeBron and Melo playing very well together.

I agree ....Carmelo's the moey scorer they need. Plus, there are still question marks about Rose.

Dan Cooper - I think Lebron and Carmelo would get along fine. Lebron likes being a facilitator....he'd drawn double-teams and kick it to Carmelo for open shots.

BTW, I'm going to try to go to the river parade on Wednesday after work. I never went to the others so this may be the last chance to go to one for a long time (nothing is guaranteed even if they all come back).

Superbowl blowout, 4-1 endings in both Stanley Cup and NBA Finals... man, serious lacking in championship excitement this year.

oh I didn't think about that but you're right of course.

pretty anticlimactic, boring, championships all around.

the Super Bowl is the only one I actually cared about, and it was my team who choked

at least I didn't bet any real money this year.

That's why LeBron left the Cavs. I knew Miami was in trouble when all I saw was LeBron being the only one putting up respectable numbers. LBJ clearly is a guy that will play seriously and lead the way to a good path, but he's not a closer.

Miami better do something about that, or LeBron might ship out again.

Pat Riley's not dumb - he knows he has to retool.

A point guard like Kyle Lowry would be perfect for Miami. He'd take the ball-handling duties away from Lebron. They could use a big-man like Serge Ibaka for rim protection.

But will Wade re-work his contract so Miami can get the pieces they need?

Went to the parade and celebration yesterday. Wanted to be near the Rivercenter river loop but by the time I got there (about 4:30 - two and a half hours before the start) there was no way I was going to get an unobstructed view. I did end up on the Commerce St. bridge not far from it and it might've been better because I could look down with an unobstructed view. In addition, I could get them both coming into the loop and from it with my camera. After the parade then it was a mad dash to the Alamodome. By the time I got there the lower levers were already filled up so I had to go to the upper level area (nosebleed). This was not fun because of all the stairs I had to climb and I'm not in the best of shape to begin with.

Although I was high up I was actually closer to the stage than some folks. This is because the Alamodome was designed mainly as a football stadium and my seating was along the "50-yard line". The stage, which was in the center, was facing one of the end zones but that was further away than I was. While being there was cool it wasn't as great as you would think because the acoustics within the dome are terrible - I could barely understand what was being said on stage because of it.

If the Spurs win another title at some point in the future I will probably go to the parade but go home to watch the Alamodome celebration on TV so I can understand what is being said. I took lots of pictures but it will take some time as I need to go through them, find the best ones, and process them for display. I got home around 11:30 and was in bed around midnight after taking my shower. But I still had to get up a few hours later for work and I certainly was feeling the effects of all the standing, walking, and climbing as I got ready for work. I am still tired and sore and will be going to bed early tonight.

Lowry isn't looking to sign for some watered down salary, he's in his prime and is going into potentially his highest paying years of his career. After his next contract he won't have the same value. And there aren't many young big men to sign.

The Wade thing is all under his control. Bosh is opting out though.

How is LeBron not a closer? I still don't get why people say this... he doesn't have that killer instinct, but saying he doesn't close games is ridiculous.
