The only thing I don't like about the new retro style Knicks uniforms is the waistband. I don't like how it is a different color on both the home and away uniforms. I don't know why, but when I saw the unveiling press conference I just didn't like it. Hopefully they play better with these new unis. By the end of the 2014, everything will be different. New uniforms and a completely renovated Garden. Hopefully, they will be a contender before then, too.

Don't take it the wrong way....but that waistband was a complete turn-off.

Signing Rasheed Wallace won't affect whether or not the Knicks win the NBA Finals. He would most likely be occupying the 14th roster spot and it's not as if the Knicks are throwing him a five-year contract worth $50 million. The most Wallace will be able to receive from the organization is the $1.7 million veteran's minimum. He has a positive relationship with Coach Mike Woodson, he is not commanding big money and he won't be receiving big minutes either. What do I think about this signing? It won't make a difference. Signing 'Sheed isn't going to shake up the starting lineup or throw the team further into salary cap hell.

 

With that said, I would prefer signing Wallace to Josh Howard. The are rumors that there is mutual interest between the two, however, Howard would want more than the veteran's minimum. He would only be taking the 15th roster spot and would most likely ride the bench. I know it wouldn't make a difference either, but I hope they do not sign him. According to ESPN New York, a source close to the team said that they think Howard will go elsewhere.

If he can develop some consistent post moves that would really help the Bulls. As they are right now, with Derrick Rose likely out until March, I don't see the Bulls finishing any higher than fifth. If I had to make an Eastern Conference playoff prediction now, it would probably look something like this:

• Heat
• Pacers
• Celtics
• Knicks
• Bulls
• Nets
• 76ers
• Hawks

It was really tough to decide on who to place at the five and six seed. The Bulls have the playoff experience and team chemistry, but missing Rose until March will definitely hurt. The Nets have the hype, but will it translate? I put the Nets at six because they have largely the same team as they did in 2011-12. That team finished 22-44 and went 7-14 after acquiring Gerald Wallace. Joe Johnson and a healthy Brook Lopez won't send this team to the two seed right off the bat. I got the Bulls at the five.

Rasheed Wallace will officially become a Knick on Monday.

Wallace has told the Knicks he has elected to come out of retirement and join their training camp, according to an NBA source.

Last season they finished at the eight seed and I'm really just not convinced by what they did during the offseason. Andrew Bynum is a very good pick up for any team, but I don't like some of the other things they did. I like Lou Williams better than Nick Young and, despite acquiring Bynum, trading Iguodala will probably make a bigger difference than most think. Their team really isn't that bad, but, for whatever reason, I don't see them making that much noise. Jrue Holiday will need to step up.

 

 

@mr.e: The Knicks actually considered signing Grant Hill earlier in the offseason. Signing Rasheed Wallace isn't going to affect their salary cap situation or their chances at the NBA Finals. He will be getting the $1.7 million veteran's minimum and his minutes will likely be at a minimum, as well. The team's average age is above 30, but after Kurt Thomas retires that figure should go down significantly. haha

I honestly think Rose should just take the whole season off and return with trust his knee, but with the Adidas ad campaign going on right now, it's very unlikely to happen.

 

Still rooting for my Bulls(preseason game Tuesday vs. Memphis). Come post-season, I'll be rooting for the Thunder in the Western Conference.

Which is exactly why I said with Rose's attitude and the ad campaign, it's very unlikely to happen.

 

I want my star player to be 100% when he returns though.

 

Anywho, Bulls open up their first pre-season game tonight against the Grizzlies and Noah will indeed be playing. Looking forward to seeing Kirk, Bellinelli, and Nate play under Thib's system.

I honestly feel the Knicks needed a shot of Ritalin, they were so young and unfocused, and had a hard time mending together. The vets we got are that calmer. They will show the Knicks just how good they can be. Only thing is we got TOO many vets, but we had to work with the cards that were dealt.We still have young guys that can possibly get better with the influx of concentration. This season is where the Knicks have to man up, and if they do its gonna be scary. The West has LAL thats really it along with the Spurs and Wolves. NUGGETS aint goin no where. The east is looking like where AMAZING will truly happen.

 

And god forbid if kidd gets his touches again and Ray reverts back to his old self. Melo just needs to keep his shot focused and pass the ball to stat and Tyson more often. Amare has to get MEAN, like really mean, he's been pussy footing it. Once they gel Brooklyn is gonna be in the shadow trust me. ANd Ima Nets fan as well. LOL

Rose should do the wise thing - sit out the season and come back 100% in 2013.

 

I've learned my lesson about getting up for the Knicks. They've disappointed me every season since their last title. Unlike younger fans, I'm not doing handstands over ONE friggin' playoff win in 11 years. There was a time when not getting to the second round was considered failure - shows you how far this franchise has fallen.

 

Enough talk Carmelo & Amar'e - show us you can play together and lead. Win a playoff series and give Miami all they can handle - then I'll be impressed.

Good is probably as good as it gets for this year. As the NBA proves, you need chemistry to win rings and they clearly didn't have much last year. Once they start doing bad this year it'll be like what the Heat had to deal with and the talks of 'breaking them up' will swirl around all season.

The seven seed is nothing to boast about, but they made that seed with four or so different teams during the lockout shortened season. There was so much turnover last season. There was no clear-cut point guard before Jeremy Lin or after his injury, the "Melodrama," Amar'e struggling, D'Antoni being fired, et cetera. I am a Knicks fan, but I'm not saying they will be the two seed and overthrow the Miami Heat. I'm saying that with a more consistent team they have to be better than last season.

 

I'll put the Knicks at the four seed and no higher. The Celtics got the four seed during the lockout shortened season with a .591 winning percentage, which equates to about 49 wins during an 82 game regular season. My prediction for the Knicks was actually 48-34, which, I think, should be good enough for the four seed. But, hey, I'm not sold on the 76ers, so we are all entitled to our opinions.

Yeah it does :\ hopefully Dante Cunningham can step up..he's looking pretty good this preseason. Who knows maybe this will help the team overall. They've added some serious depth this year, and I'm looking forward to attending games even before Kevin and Rubio return... and that alone excites me.

It's a cyst in his knee, but they're saying it's not a serious injury and because he is in good shape physically "the better he is in terms of healing, maintenance and staving off the recurrence of any new symptoms." I don't really think it will matter, honestly. The Knicks look fairly good on paper, but when Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire have been in the starting lineup together the Knicks have a sub-.500 record. The first season was not enough time to develop chemistry and the second season saw injuries, coaching changes and too much turnover for chemistry to develop, but everyone thought this season was going to be different. I love the Knicks and have fairly high expectations, but I'm not buying it anymore. Stoudemire is talented, no doubt about it, but I believe he's a product of a system. He had an MVP caliber first half in the 2010-11 season when Mike D'Antoni was the head coach. He played under D'Antoni and the Seven Second Or Less offense in Phoenix with Steve Nash, of all point guards.

 

The biggest issue with Stoudemire is not whether he or Carmelo can adjust to playing on the same team, but whether he can stay healthy. He has made a great effort to stay in shape, but it just seems like he gets injured every other week. Microfracture surgery in 2005, a partially detached retina in 2009, lower back injuries in 2011 and now this. Knicks fans are delusional if they think that Chris Paul will be a Knick, especially if it requires trading Stoudemire. He has three years, $65 million left on his uninsured contract.

 

He has a huge back loaded, uninsured contract, an inability to stay healthy or develop chemistry with his team as a result of his injuries. I haven't seen the pairing of Stoudemire and Carmelo really work and I don't see it working in the future. While I thought the Tyson Chandler signing was good at the time, too, I feel that doesn't help Amar'e either. I'll stop before I begin to ramble, though. I feel as though you can write a book on this issue. In summation, however, I believe Amar'e Stoudemire is a good player, but a system player who works at his best in the pick-and-roll, but cannot stay on the court due to injuries or adjust to playing on the same team and in the same offense as Carmelo Anthony.

I'm pretty confident in saying that the Thunder actually gained more from this than the Rockets. I mean, the Rockets aren't going to win a championship with Harden's talent, but the Thunder have got more 1st round draft picks to make value of as Durant and Westbrook mature and they'll be a force for even longer now than was expected.

 

It's going to cost Harden a championship or two over the next 5 years I'm guessing, OKC are looking good for the next 5 years atleast. This coming from a Heat fan.

I think it makes the Thunder better down the road, but I think it lessens their chances of winning a Title this year. Jeremy Lamb and the few picks they received could very well work out in their favor, but it's going to take a couple years for us to see. I like this for the Rockets, though. Get an athletic G who can slash and also pass. The additions of Aldrich, Hayward and Cook don't really do too much though.

LeBron. If he keeps playing in the paint like he did in the NBA Finals, he will be unstoppable. And now that he's got even more great shooters to pass to his assist totals after taking it inside and kicking it out will only get bigger. He's the best player in the game at the moment. This is biased as a Heat fan but just how I feel.
