Yikes... Not viewing Luka as a win now situation is crazy, even with their concerns about his longevity and conditioning. They just made the finals last year.

He was also due a 350mil extension so...

Harrison is crazy. The Lakers have guaranteed their future for the next 10 years. Magic Luka's legendary talent outweighs his issues with weight, work ethic and complaints to referees. Calculated risk for the Lakers.

The Mavs only wanted Davis and did not want to enter into trade talks with other teams. Obviously shorter time window (2 years) and with the title as the only possibility for improvement.

Obviously something Luka's doing (or not doing) has ticked off the front office, because this makes no sense. They were in the Finals last season.

 

To me, this trade is unprecedented. I followed the NBA since the 70s and I don't recall a star-for-star deal like this. When Kareem got traded to LA, it was for a bunch of role players.

Love the pairing of Fox & Wemby in San Antonio. Don't know what the Bulls were thinking.

Shameful what the Mavs ownership & front office are doing, but it's part of the big plan:
Phase 1: Get rid to star player
Phase 2: Raise ticket price
Phase 3: Demand new Arena
Phase 4: Bemoan lack of fan support
Phase 5: Las Vegas Mavericks

 

It just gets worse for the Mavs...season-ending ACL injury for Kyrie....what a mess.

 

Hopefully Wemby's situation is not life-threatening and the doctors can get a handle on it...damn.
