Did anybody really expect the Spurs to win this series?

I don't expect them to win, but I hope they do. I just don't like the word "dynasty" being thrown around when people talk about the Heat. They play like they don't care, as if their heart isn't into it.

Who in the bejesus said the Heat was a dynasty? Spurs have been the only dynasty in the NBA since the Chicago Bulls. You can debate the Lakers, but they've been on and off the past years... San Antonio has been consistent for what? 10-15 years?

A lot of rumors swirling around about Doc Rivers, Kevin Garnett and possibly Paul Pierce going to the Clippers. Not only that, but more rumors have surfaced saying Clippers have offered the Lakers Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe for Dwight Howard (to team Paul and Howard up) in a three team trade; Clippers-Lakers-Celtics. They said the Clippers would also dump off DeAndre Jordan and several 1st round picks, but regardless they would look mighty fine on paper.

C - Dwight Howard

F - Kevin Garnett

F - Paul Pierce

G - Caron Butler/Jamal Crawford

G - Chris Paul

Head Coach - Doc Rivers

I didn't think the Celtics would give up Doc, and I really hope they don't. He fits the franchise very well.

Garnett & Pierce are nearing the end - why make your team older? I wouldn't make that deal.

Keep the young guys, and develop them into better players. That's why the Spurs are the Spurs.

Game 5 is always the turning point of a series. IMO, whoever wins tonight will win the title. Can Wade turn back the clock again?

^^Even though it does sound good I have to agree with Funktipus KG and pierce had their run but I think it's about over. There was also a rumor about Dwight and Paul going to Huston with harden. I would rather see that happen. And as for Dwight he should leave the lakers cause if he ends up staying I think it's gonna be a disaster for him again.

Spurs take game 5. I predicted spurs to win in six games and here it is. They just need one more good game and so long King James.

Thats such a bad thing to do itss not even funny. Blake Griffin is an amazing Forward. Your telling me they wanna give him up for the inconsistant Howard? No way

If the Celtics get rid of Doc Rivers im done being a Celtics fan. Plain and simple. The guy is an amazing head coach, Year after year he continues to work with what he has and make the playoffs.

Spurs take game 5. I'm almost positive Miami isn't going to lose Game 6 in Miami, which leaves this series to be settled in Game 7. Spurs really needed this win and, I think, the one big component was Manu stepping up and being the player we've seen in the past.

Not to mention Danny Green being lights-out from 3-point, it's amazing that Miami still finds a way to leave him with wide open shots. Easily the Finals MVP if they take this series.

Seriously, the Lakers from 2000-2010 were not a dynasty? I know you know better than that. They had a three-peat winning the NBA Finals in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and lost only four games in those three series. They went to The Finals and lost in 2004 in five games to the Pistons. After that, they did struggle for a bit missing the playoffs in '04-'05 and getting the No. 7 seed in '06 and '07, but that's gonna happen when you trade away your best player. Kobe played very well during those seasons, but didn't have the pieces around him in the always competitive Western Conference until the 2008 trade deadline when they got Pau Gasol. They went to The Finals three consecutive seasons from 2008 through 2010, winning twice in '09 and '10. So, from 2000 until 2010, or even 2013 to make it even, the Lakers have been in the NBA Finals seven times and have won five NBA Finals championships. That's not a dynasty, though?

If anything, the Lakers and the Spurs dynasties have been concurrent. The Western Conference has dominated the NBA Finals since the Bulls of the '90s. Three teams from the Eastern Conference have won The Finals a total of four times since 1998. Three teams from the West have won 10 NBA Finals since that time and two teams account for nine: Lakers with five and the Spurs with four. Yeah, they're both dynasties.

What a f*cking game. Allen just hit a clutch 3 pointer to send this game into OT. Lets see who pulls it off.

Edit: Game is over now. Looks like lebron taking off the headband made him have magical powers. But what a comeback. Bosh with that block even though I thought it was a foul. And when ginobili was running down down the court I thought Allen fouled him but o well. It's off to game 7.

I put $50 on the game totalling fewer than 192 points. f*ck Kawhi (sp?) Leonard for missing that second free throw and screwing me over getting $100 back. sneaky2.gif

I'd still put money on the Spurs to take game seven, solely on the grounds that Miami cannot win two games in a row.

CLUTCH play from Ray Allen and LeBron James. big clutch plays last night.

but if nothing changes then the Spurs will win game 7 pretty easily.

Miami cannot seem to adjust for more than 1 game at a time.

they haven't won 2 games in a row in at least their last 15 games.

so it's STILL the Spurs series to lose... ever since game 3 it's been this way.

Son of a bitch. Heat win. I felt like spurs f*cked themselves over in game 6 anyway they had their chance to close this sh*t out in game 6 but f*cked it up. Maybe if Duncan made that layup at the end of game 7 then maybe this game would be in OT but either way with how the spurs were playing I don't think they would have won anyway. All In all it was a very good series I didn't think it would go seven games ( even though it shouldn't have) but I'm glad that it did.

Congrats Miami

Congrats King James

Man, what a series! I didn't have a horse in that race - would have been happy to see Duncan get a fifth ring - but it's good to see LeBron step up to the plate. Two triple doubles in the series and another 30+ point game tonight. Bosh and Anderson were key on defence tonight, and Wade was on form. Role players like Battier , Ray and Miller were also vital.

I feel bad for Manu after the last two games. He had a fantastic game five and I thought that would be him firing on all cylinders for the rest of the series, but unfortunately not. Shame, he's been such a great player but just struggled for large parts of this season.

Tell you what though, Kawhi Leonard looks incredible and has plenty time to improve too. Potential future of their franchise right there.

Best finals I've watched hands down. Good to see LeBron solidify himself (seeing as some people don't see him) as one of the greatest ever.... and he's not even 30 yet.

Manu just played horrible the last couple minutes of the game and Danny Green was colder than a frozen faucet. Leonard played like all-star this entire series, if he develops fully the Spurs will be contenders for a few more years. Very curious to see whats the story behind Tony Parker not playing the last seconds of the game.

Heat champions! <3

+1.

Congrats Miami. Amazing series 4-3, I expected San Antonio to win, though. Yes I know I'm late, because the timezones between India and the US are crap.

I'm new here, so I'm a basketball fan and I support the Celtics, shame for us though. confused.gif

Great? I don't know....as I said before, it reminds me of the 2005 finals. Became great near the end.

NBA Draft later this week. Don't know much about this year's class yet. Knicks need a quality big man to deal with Hibbert, or a lightning quick point guard.

Doc Rivers wants out of the Eastern Conference. I like the chances of Chris Paul staying now that they got a good coach. I hope we can trade coaches in 2k15. You give up a first rounder for a coach, quite baffling.

I'm interested in the development of Rondo and the Celtics after this. If they can hit gold somewhere with a coach, the draft or free agency I will still see that team is a contender. As long as Rondo is out there.

Larry Coon explained how this "trade," for lack of a better term, works perfectly.

First, let’s get this technicality out of the way — coaches can’t be traded. What we’re talking about is one team compensating another for releasing their coach from his contract and waiving his non-compete clause.

With that out of the way — there IS precedent for teams compensating other teams with picks in exchange for coaching accommodation. It happened with Chris Wallace, and it happened with Stan Van Gundy. But those things were outside the purview of the CBA. The CBA covers the relationship between the league and players. Future picks are not players. For example, issues regarding future picks (like the seven-year rule or the Ted Stepien rule) aren’t to be found in the CBA at all.

But if you throw Garnett into the deal, now you’re bringing a player into the mix, and now you’re dealing with the CBA and its rules for trading players. There is nothing in the CBA allowing a player to be moved where a coaching accommodation is a part of the deal. Such a deal would not be allowed.

“So we’ll just split it into two trades,” they say. “Garnett for Jordan, and Doc for future picks.” But that’s an extremely transparent attempt to make the aforementioned illegal trade legal, and the league would prevent it under the general prohibition against circumvention.

The only way it might be allowed is if they forget about the players, and do the Doc-picks deal now, then revisit Garnett-Jordan after a sufficient amount of time has passed.

The CBA has many rules in place that force a sufficient time lapse to ensure (or at least presume) that deals aren’t connected:

* If a team trades a player and they waive him, he can’t re-sign for a year.

* If a team acquires a player via trade, they can’t aggregate him in another trade for two months.

* If a team signs a free agent, they can’t trade him for three months or until December 15, whichever is later.

* A big extension and a trade have to be separated by at least six months.

…etc.

How much time would have to lapse? Beats me — this case is undefined.

With that said, this is big for Clippers because now they have, without a doubt, the best team in Los Angeles. I have no doubts, as well, that Chris Paul will stay. I just wonder what is next on the Clippers' offseason to-do list. Obviously they want Kevin Garnett and if it took trading DeAndre Jordan, I would do it. Jordan, as great a dunker as he is, is a very one-dimensional player and he shoots for a terrible percentage from the free throw line. I think Garnett's experience and experience under Rivers will help everyone else on the Clippers.

As for the Celtics, they got old really quickly. The transactions they made last offseason didn't pan out as well as I thought they would have, their draft picks might never really see the NBA and I thought some players they had on their roster after the 2012 season, ie Brandon Bass and Jeff Green, would improve and really help them in 2012-2013. I don't blame them for letting Doc go because they get draft picks in return, which helps their mission to rebuild. Now, like the Clippers, I just wonder what is on their to-do list after trying to trade Kevin Garnett.

Nuggets hired Brian Shaw.

J.R. Smith will opt for free agency. Interesting to see if another team gives him an offer he can't refuse.

Scottie Pippen's in trouble for beating up some dude who asked him for an autograph. Pippen said no, dude supposedly said something back, and s*** got physical.
