Where will GTA VI take place? Vice city?

I got over GTA IV being in Liberty City. It was a revamp and where else to start than where it began?

Then V was announced to be Los Santos... I was pretty upset that they haven't tried a new location. But I forgave them for the same reasons as IV; the map will be totally different because it's on a much bigger scale.

If VI takes place in Vice City like it seems it will the same aching feeling that they missed potential by trying a new location will come. That will fade away once I see what they have done to make this Vice City more realistic and much larger in scope. I assume with VI they'll include much of the everglades and a much larger part of Miami, maybe stretching out to include the Florida Keys as well. It will, like IV and V before it probably take place modern day.

The real question shouldn't be where will GTA VI take place but where will GTA VII take place?

'cause if GTA VII is Liberty City again I will probably lose interest in the series. I mean they can do it well, give it a bigger scope, make it even more realistically but GTA IV's LC should imo be the last.

There's plenty of other cities to choose from. Chicago's never been done in GTA before, that would be nice as it's the third largest city after NYC and LA

Take note that after GTA VI they have made every old game an HD.

GTA IV - GTA 3

GTA V - San Andreas

GTA VI - Vice City (Might be)

C'mon! What's wrong with you?! NONE of RAGE GTAs is a HD remake of Renderware ones!

Two most notable differences between GTA IV and III :

III protagonist is named Claude, or the full name might be Claude Speed, IV's one is named Niko Bellic.

The city, though bearing the same name, is completely diffferent!

By the way, I think GTA VI should be set in the Anywhere city, and have a cheaper Renderware version for older PCs.

Too bad many people don't think of GTA set in Europe...

Now seriusly. Vice City without the 1980's setting is nothing. But you can't either repeat the same place and setting. I don't understand why that many people just want to revisit the old maps instead of having whole new ones to explore :/

This is something I have pondered ever since it was announced that V takes place in Los Santos.

I think Vice City is inevitable for GTA VI, but the guys at Rockstar have had interest in possibly making a GTA: America, including all GTA cities. I don't think this will be realized in VI (probably just Vice City and maybe Las Venturas too) but this is a real possibility with VII - just upgrading all of the previously made HD cities and combining them into one, adding maybe San Fierro or Chicago. I personally hope they do an outlandish futuristic GTA like GTA 2.

It would be incredibly disappointing if GTA VII was just Liberty City in Ultra HD. VI is going to be Vice City with 3 characters.

I want to see something new in a Next Gen GTA VI. We've had multiple cities, multiple characters the logical step would be a GTA in an international Setting. As Rockstar already said this won't happen, what about mixing up an American City with an International City?

And what better way to do so than Vice City on the one hand and Havanna, Cuba on the other hand? This would be perfect match imo.

You have 2 cities, 2 countries, 2 different cultures that would make for a very interesting story.

You'd have 2 characters who don't know each other in the beginning and have their own story lines in their respective cities. Then somewhere along the story their paths cross and they become friends or whatever. The 2 cities could provide an interesting Drug storyline á la Scarface. So basically the 2 characters start off as low level criminals and when they meet each other begin to build their own Drug Empire or something like that.

The Heists of GTA V would be the Drug operations of GTA VI.

The completely different cities would be like nothing else in a GTA game before. You are driving around in Vice City in your nice car on these nice and perfectly organised streets then change your character and suddenly you are in a in a cheap ass Car driving on dirty, crowded and chaotic streets with people yelling at you in spanish.

And wouldn't it be awesome if you could freely travel between the two cities? Like you hop on a plane in Miami and fly across the ocean to Havanna without any Cutscenes or anything.

Add some Miami outback like the Everglades and some small towns and you have a perfect setting for a Next Gen GTA.

And please excuse any grammar mistakes or anything, english is not my first language.

@above: it's indeed a good idea. I had thought some time ago something like, for example, Vice City and Colombia (where the cartel and drugs would be). However, this would be just an example since I keep my opinion that Vice City is over.

Anyway, maybe there could even be two different cities in different maps. To travel between them there could be some cutscene and loading screen, like when you took a plane in SA to go from LS to LV. For example, you'd have to pay for a plane ticket in the airport of X city, ie. Vice City, and after a cutscene of the plane taking off and a loading screen, you'd arrive to the Y city, Las Venturas, airport. I guess it could be possible to do with the tech advances for the time the next GTA is developed :)

I Have a Dream: A new GTA comes out every year or at least every 18 months. I'm 29 years old and if Rockstar releases a new game every 6 years, than that means we can play another 5 titles or so in our LIVES. For this fantastic game it is simply to less. They need 1 billion costs, than they can produce 4 times faster as GTA 5. So please count the profit from GTA 5, start doing math and seek for investors or just put the money on the table when GTA 5 makes 10 times more than it cossed. Thank you Rockstar.

My wishlist of GTA:

GTA 6: Vice City (released 2015)

- Pro's: No comments. Vice City was fantastic in '80's style and will be fantastic in 80's style.

- Expension: Everglades: I see missions were airplanes from columbia dropping packs of cocaine in the Everglades. I see missions were alligators are in it. Miami harbour: Boats filled with cocaine coming in. Florida Keys: Lot of things to do and do crimes. Second city in the game: Tampa Bay. Third city in this game: Orlando with all amusement parks. Nasa platform: Missions of sabotaging rockets or something like that.
No's: no no's for Vice City

GTA 7: Amsterdamned (released 2016)
- Pro's: Marihuana - streets filled with hookers - diamond trading - over 150 nationalities - rich parts, poor parts, historical/cultural city - football hooliganism - lots of canals - big airport (Schiphol) - to the east: A big lake named IJsselmeer - tot the west: a smaller city named Haarlem which borders the North Sea.

- Expension: City of Rotterdam as the second city in the game. With the biggest harbour in the world this would be Europe's distribution center for cocain, heroin, XTC. Also a lot of hooligans wit 3 stadiums. Big Sea missions. A small airport. A big swamp is also near Rotterdam.

- No's: It's in Holland, not in America.

GTA 8: Chicago 1931 (released 2017)

Pro's: History of mobsters and crime related to alcohol - Lake Michigan - Historic and big city - Bad poilitics - 2 airports - This GTA game takes us way back for once to a time an automobile was not common.

Expension: City of Detroit with their automobile industry just beginning in that time - A healthy variety of crimes all over the place - Another lake - Bordering Canada. Third and small City of Milwaukee. The most important thing in this game is that you can travel by land, plane or on water to all three of the cities. (lakes are connected) Especially the water ways are nice. I see a lot of cool missions coming and a great landscape while going on boat with no open sea.

No's: I can't think of any.

GTA 9: Las Vegas (released 2018)

Pro's: Casino's - Hookers - Maffia - Gangs - Big city in a dessert - Nice lake not to far away - Area 51 (69) not very far away - Celebrities performing.

Expension: Hoover Dam and Dessert missions.

No's: No no's for this fantastic city, this game speaks for itself.

GTA 10: Boston (released 2019)

Pro's: Irish maffia missions and lots of them - Bordering the ocean - Big airport.

Expension: Portland (Maine) as a small city in the game. It's surrounded completely with water and can be reached by plane, boat and vehicles. Further to the north there are hills with lots of wildlife missions. To the nortwest there are a few snowey mountains wit some decent missions for it. Than Cape Cod just south of Boston with several missions and ability to travel to by boat or vehicle. The nicest thing about this game is that it would be on one shoreline and very accesible by boats.
No's: No no's

2020: Next gen Playstation 5 released ! (no GTA release)

GTA 11: The Northwest. Seattle - Vancouver (Canada) - Salt Lake City - Portland Oregon (released 2021)
Pro's: The biggest game ever by far! In this game the four city's mentioned above are in one game. With beautiful landcapes - big mountains - desserts - forests - airports in 4 city's - sea - lakes etc. This game has everything. This is the game were Rockstar sells 500 million copies from. Even for a hardcore GTA-gamer it takes about 2 years to complete only the storyline if he plays it every day for at least two hours, 7 days a week. In this part of USA, Rockstar can prove what they are capable of with graphics (due to fantastic scenery) and how big a game can be and will be in the future.

Expension: Nothing

No's: Hell no!

GTA 12: Liberty City (released 2023)

Pro's: Back to the roots - Next gen shows us Liberty City in all it's beauty - everything Liberty City has offered us in the past and presence.

Expension: A fifth Island comes within the city limits - East of the airport is Long Island bordering the sea, not the airport - Northwest of the City begins upstate New York, again witth beautiful scenery's, mountains and a few small city's like Albany. West of the city, a landscape with a few hills and some exiting missions - 4 airports (2 NYC, 1 Newark, 1 Upstate NY) - Ability of going by boat over the Hudson upstream upstate New York.

No's: Liberty City......again.

GTA 13: San Fransisco (released 2024)

Pro's: Maffia crime's - Gays - Hippie culture - Sillicon Valley - Very big city with Oakland, San Jose and the Silicon Valley area within the game - The City surround the big San Fransisco Bay - San Fransisco lies on the seashore as well - Beautiful landscape again, with San Fransisco Bay in the center, surrounded by concrete of the cities and behind that spectacular mountains with a high variety.
Expension: nothing
No's: No no's

GTA 14: Philadelphia (released 2025)

Pro's: Lots of crimes in Philadelphia and the bordering town of Camden NJ - Maffia - A river devides NJ from Philly - Nuclear power plant accros river, under Camden - Aggresssive Amish people to the southwest in a farming landscape - East of Philly/Camden are the woods and behind that the seashore - On the seashore are only Snooky/Pauly D look-a-likes.

Expension: Wilmington Delaware as a small city south of Philly and with lots of crime and creditcard companies doing crimes and stuff.

No's: no no's.

GTA 15: GTA only (release 2027)

Pro's: The biggest game by far. A harcore GTA gamer needs at least 4 years of playing to complete only the storyline missions. That's if he plays for 2 hours each day, 7 daus a week and 4 years long. This game has EVERY game you see above including Amsterdam + Los Santos (new next gen style). So 11 cities. The only possible way by getting in another city is by plane.
Expansion: Nothing
No's: Hell no.

2027: Next gen Playstation 6 released !
This is not a console. This is a kind of room you can buy with the newest technologie. Persons are actually IN the game, not in front of a TV.
Rockstar needs 5 years to make the biggest game ever.

GTA 16: America (released 2032)
Pro's: Everything of GTA America, but with every town America has to offer. This game consists all of the USA, including Canada. Hundreds of cities (based on real cities), thousands of towns and thousands of villages. It's a copy of Google-maps USA. Rocky Mountains, Apelachen, Snow, Forrests, Shorelines, Desserts, Swamps etc. Every city is accessable by plane, road, train and boat (only not from west to east). A player can decide to drive from Oklahoma City to Denver and spends hours of driving thru beautiful landscapes, coming only thru a few towns. On this scale I mean it. Faster traveling can be done by plane (with skip button or taxi with skip button). Think of all the possibilities people.... A hardcore player has to play at least 5-10 years to complete the storyline missions. That's every day for at least 2 hours.

GTA 17: World (released 2035)

Use your imagination, not ammunation.

Now TWO things:

1: Rockstar does everything in it's power to do something like this, while maintaining quality and satisfying us with different city's and a high frequency of releasing new games for us. Than there will be at least 500 million people playing GTA's and they are willing to pay double the money for every single game as they now do. Rockstar will be the best company in this world.

2: Rockstar doesn't do anything. Every 6 years a new game, repeating Liberty City, Los Santos, and maybe if we're lucky Vice City. Then ANOTHER game company will fill this gap, because demand is rising like never before. Ubisoft for example.

Please let it be Rockstar....

why should GTA VI take place in Vice City? Why not London! and yes even if GTA hasnt been set in Chicago or Las Vegas, Saints Row 3 & 4 have been based in Chicago and Las Vegas in Fallout. I just hope GTA VI will take place in London or Manchester again like it did in GTA II except this time it'll be in 3D or atleast set it in Birmingham! its the UK's second largest city and a lot of crime takes place here so I think it would be a brilliant place to be set

I'm guessing you missed the statement Dan Houser gave when he said he would never make a British GTA game

Personally I want the next GTA to be set in Vice City (modern period, because for me it's just redundant to repeat the same 80's vibe that made GTA Vice City the best. GTA VI with modern Vice City would be great, don't regret on that) and Las Venturas. Now I know it's kinda ambitious but you see; GTA SA has State of San Andreas and Liberty City (not explorable in SP) GTA V has North Yankton (again not explorable, unless it has something to with DLC) and Los Santos. Seeing that R* sometimes included far fetched areas that aren't explorable, why not make a new leap towards making two different locations in different worlds. That way we can enjoy the vibe of each city has to offer.
