don't try to play gta iv with amd e-500 CPU. i am budget GTA IV gaming fiend, and i wouldn't bother with any onboard solution other than amd a8 type CPU, but even then i am not sure it can run gta iv @ resolutions like 1388x768. then again, the new amd trinity CPU (a10) + 7660d may be good, but i kind of doubt it...

Did you read what he posted? It's a laptop.

If you want to play GTA IV normally, you'll have to get a new PC. And no, not Llano or Trinity, you can get a X4 and a 560 at the same price for gods sake. confused.gif

I can't speak for AMD, but the ATI series HD 6xxx should work OK, not fantastic, but will work. the install issue for GTA is Shader Model support, first and foremost

the other is memory of course, if you use XP, or 32bit, 3GB should work OK. It's common for a 2 and 1 stick of GB Ram for a laptop in essence. As for the CPU, My Dell I got going is a Hyper Threading 3.4Ghz, which does support 64bit, but I'm going to try out a Pentium D as well and measure my gaming performance on this setup

What aids in doing the budget route I have in mind is the 945GM Intel chipset matches across from desktop to laptop, so I will have a great idea of what works on my Acer 4710 once I get the right GPU, though I've never put a Core2 in this system, it's the plan for the Acer laptop that's just a T2450 now. Still dual core, but not Core2 generation

Why would the HD 6XXX series not work fantastic?

You could take a look at my signature, for instance sigh.gif
