GTA San Andreas Features

I never really had the time to play GTA SA much. When I did play it was at my friends house after IV was released. And it looked like IV lost a lot of features from SA. It would be cool if someone could list all the features SA had that IV didn't. I tried googling this but no one said the whole list I tried to search for a topic like this but couldn't find any. I am still finding about more and more features that SA has.

List them all please I don't care if they are pointless or not. biggrin.gif

-Parachutes

GTA IV had parachutes (Ballad of Gay Tony).

I'm talking about the original IV.

Although I love San Andreas, I see no reason to complain about IV.

IV also had great features, such as taking cover, friend activities, chasing most wanted persons, shooting birds, choices to let some character live or die etc.

Anyone know any features that I missed?

A crappy, uniteresting story. That's certainly something from SA not present in GTA IV. tounge2.gif

I think San An has a better storyline than any other GTA, maybe except for III coz I like starting off little and ending up on top of the city.

Just a matter of opinion. smile.gif

Maybe "crappy" was a bit harsh, but never really been a fan of the story. Way too mix and match for my liking.

Oh you...

Anyway on with the list!

Gambling. And the ability to have a negative amount of cash, at which point the casinos would send loan sharks out to "talk to you about your debt." In other words - hunt you down and kill you. tounge.gif

Fun Cheats. If I remember correctly IV just had basic cheats like vehicles, health, weapons, wanted level. But none of the crazy ones from SA like super punches, the various theme cheats, riot mode, and all that good stuff.

Stadium Events

Driving, boating, flying, and motorcycle schools

Paramedic, firefighter, freight, trucking, pimping, quarry, and courier side missions. And endless vigilante and taxi missions. In IV you only had a limited amount available before you were prevented from doing them anymore.

Functioning Airports. You could purchase flights to fly between each city.

Cars that blew up when you shot their gas caps. Unrealistic, but still a feature.

Cranes you could operate.

Trains you could operate.

Ability to respond to ped's comments.

Alright that's all I can think of for now.

Thx for the big list. I have a question though in IV can't you keep doing Vigilante by pressing "Current Crimes"?

And I'm going to organize this list soon since the list is bigger than I thought it would be. Makes me frown at all the potential that was tossed aside. I really hope most of these come back in GTA V. biggrin.gif

...not wasted potential, more like useless features in Liberty City. Of the "features" on that list, the ones that were actually interesting or useful within reason are limited to:

-Bicycles

-Car modification

-Body and clothes customization

-Assets

-Swimming underwater

-Fun cheat codes

Huge map, unique vehicles, and wanted system were all in IV. Planes would be absolutely useless in Liberty City where half the city is composed of skyscrapers and where the city really had no open/"free" space like the desert, jetpacks would be extremely out-of-sync with the IV tone (but would make a good cheat code), the stat element in San Andreas sucked big time, was easily cheated, and was more of an inconvenience, dual wielding is unrealistic, a plane ticket to fly across a city is just about damn dumb, the crane is practically useless...

And so on and so forth. Most of those "features" were really unrealistic, really useless, or really unnecessary in the first place, let alone if they were carried over to IV. Admittedly, I would sell my soul to replace the sh*tty Friends system in IV with the riot codes, but anyone calling the crane a "feature" implies that it was useful in the first place. IV had its flaws, but so did SA. (That over-the-top BS would really, really wear thin on my nerves if Rockstar had done it with another game and begun to mimic its mentally-deficient clone, Saints Row. It was good for one game, and that's it... perhaps the same is also true of IV's hyper-realism. A healthy balance would be nice... insanity within reason. That's what I'm hoping for in V.)

Yes I was wrong. I was thinking of that Most Wanted side mission in IV. smile.gif

IV missed a lot of things that GTA SA had.

A huge map

A restricted area

parachutes

planes

and also CJ is the most customizable player biggrin.gif

(Didn't read the whole topic)

-hiring GSF members

-The Tank+the SWAT tank

-A lot of restricted areas

-The fact that SA had 2 states to explore:San Andreas and Liberty City(I know LC in SA was made for a mission, and that there's no activity in LC at all,but still, you can explore it but only with cheats thou')

-Vehicle driving skill

-Minigun?(Probably not a feature,but still,SA had it)

That's all I could think of(for now)

IV's Liberty was a huge, living city, unlike the massive dead spaces in SA. LC felt more alive than the whole state of San Andreas...

The airport's runway was restricted, so... wut?

I already addressed why planes would be a colossally bad idea in IV in an above post, aside from a potential 9/11 controversy.

@Th3MaN1: As someone already said, TBOGT addressed a lot of the superfluous "features" that no one cared about when they were in SA. Parachutes, the APV, the M249 (not a Minigun, still THE BEST as far as weapons go though), and gaudiness were all redone. (OMG GOLD GUNZ R TEH SHT LOL) In fact, these "features" in TBOGT were drastically improved over their III era counterparts.

IV had two states, too: Alderney and Liberty... and Alderney could readily be accessed.

The skill system was just a useless, easily cheated waste of time.
