Now before I start, I am Australian and although I have never been to LA, I still have a lot of respect for the region and for the US. I have gta sa and to me LS, although I know it's a fictional representation of the area, is an awesome city, one which I would feel bad even thinking of crashing a plane into. Ok, so Rockstar omitted planes from GTAIII, LCS and GTAIV for obvious reasons - the aftermath of 9/11 meant planes in Liberty City were a no go. So we skip forward to 2012. Now we have photo realistic graphics, jaw dropping animations and realistic shoot outs. Are airplanes such a great idea for gta v? Now I don't want to see Rockstar in a battle against Jack Thompson and I think if Rockstar include the realism of crumbling buildings as the result of impact from a passenger jet airliner/hydra/rpg then I think Rockstar have or will have, serious issues to deal with and will have to face the consequences from thousands of concerned people who may even have lost family as a result of 9/11. There is even the possibility of terrorist cells who may gain a copy of the game, using it as a tool to organise a terror attack on one of LA's major buildings. Don't say it can't happen, anything is possible, especially if Rockstar make the game as realistic as possible with crumbling buildings etc. Now I would like planes in the game, but make the buildings to withstand impact or create a zone where planes hit an invisible wall and can't hit buildings. But its more than 10 years ago, time to leave it behind us. And terrorists using V as a simulator for terrorist attacks is just ludacris. So i think R* shouldnt feel any restraints while making V. If R* implement passangers on commercial airliners the government will have a field day trying to ban GTA V or some other wannabe Jack Thompson will try to have it banned and might succed. And to beat the dead horse even more, GTA:IV did not have planes because, come on, were would you land? It was a dense city, planes were a bad idea and that is why you can use a helicopter but not a plane in GTA IV. Now, could we stop talking about this retared topic already? It does not make any sense! At all! If it does, prove it me. From what you can see, I like flying planes very much in video games like Saints Row and GTA. EDIT: I believe that video games can be any simulator(murder,terrorist, any thing bad) they want because it keeps people to do those bad things ONLY in the video games and not going anywhere else. Alright, what I mean is, if you hate some sh*t, you put all your rage in a video game that can crash an airplane into some building. It's not actually LA. R* can re-imagine LAX anyway they want to in that case. GTA V will be detailed, but it's not going to be a 3D map of LA for terrorists to plan an attack. All of this is ridiculous to think there'll be an outcry. After Rockstar showed a fully exposed uncut penis in GTAIV EP2, which would have been a BIG no-no only a few years before in America, and considering no one had anything to shout on the Hill[tops] over that, I'm sure something as simple as planes wouldn't make anyone cry. In GTA IV you could use the Annihilator to go from one side of the map to the other in a few seconds; planes were just not needed. In Liberty City it made some sense, they weren't required to exclude planes from GTA IV, but 1) it saved alot of time development wise on an already delayd game, 2) LC is not big enough to use planes effectively and 3) controversy over 9/11. In GTA III they even delayed the game to chop off the wings on the plane just after the events of 9/11. Now, in 2012, I think we're past the stage of always being cautious about what can and can't be in a game. If Rockstar want to put aircraft in the game then they will - GTA as a whole is already controversial and has content many would say shouldn't be in a game, so including planes isnt going to make it any worse. I can fly a plane into a building in FSX, in the most realistic way possible. I could accurately recreate the events of 9/11 if I wanted too - doing it in GTA can't possibly be worse. You know, if you have what it takes, you can create a crime sence in any GTA and plan your crime with a victim, guns and everything. But one big flow is, no criminal mind will ever use GTA Maybe Battlefield 3 because it is very realistic flying and plane wise but, even that is VERY far fetched. Sorry for being an ass, I do not mean it but, I do not see the logic behind making this topic. They can use ANYTHING that is not GTA. Like real planes. Because they are not idiots, you know that? Posted June 25, 2012 Share Posted June 25, 2012 I love how on Gta games you kill tons of people with weapons and vehciles, but as soon as planes or fly able vehicles it's a whole different story, yes it was a sad time during 9/11 but that was nearly 11years ago! People just need to release it just a game, look at Just Cause 2 when that came out a group called Ji-had posted a video in YouTube of them flying he big passenger jet into the building, the Papers in the Uk just did a little story on it, and nothing else was mentioned in other papers. I would hate to have thought what would of happened in the US, it would of been front page news. The way I see it, it's just a game. Nuff said! Or maybe the car bombs due to ongoing Iraqi attacks? Maybe earthquakes should be banned from SimCity out of respect for Christchurch? The simple fact is that while 9/11 was a horrible event, it wasn't the only type of disaster to even happen. To say for now on that using planes in sand box games is taboo is just not fair and extremely biased. However in typical fashion people like dickhead Jack (who has no say in the matter anyways) and all the rest of the Fox News followers believe everythingsout to destroy them and their society. Also, why I wouldn't say for people to get over 9/11 as it isn't that easy or simple, nevermind downright offensive. Ok it didn't have planes, but you could place a bomb under car or what ever, park in a large crowd or among traffic and let it blow up which by traditional standards would be considered a terrorist attack and yet we have GTA V on the horizon.
