I have a suggestion. Instead of just porting the pedestrian, character and CJ models from the mobile version, why not remaster them with new HD models AND textures with mipmapping and also add separate fingers to ALL pedestrians, characters and CJ models using the mobile hands as a base model and remaster THOSE too. The mobile textures have slight color loss and artifacts. Can you also fix the building/object/road collisions too? I've heard most/many of them are horrible/glitched.

Do you understand how much work you are asking Flame to do? Creating models to replace ~300 pedestrians takes a whole team of paid developers... Flame is one man. I am very excited to see what San Andreas graphics can look like completely replaced just as much as anybody else, but I manage my expectations. Don't expect one person to do the job that requires an entire community working together.

 

If you really want to see a fully upgraded San Andreas, why not try and learn some modding yourself? I did it, I've never done any graphic editing before in my life and I recently learned how to use the GIMP to upgrade some textures. If you don't even want to try that, I suggest you refrain from such entitled requests.

The Duke Of Nukes, I can understand your desires, but must clarify that I don't plan to port any peds from mobile GTA SA (only CJ's model), and now I don't have such 3ds Max skills to remodell peds.

 

Most likely, in HRT 1.4 will be original peds models. Because now I have such goals: I have to finish all the textures of game world (there is still a lot of work...), I have to finish with interiors textures, with all the props models; also cars will be little better with improved textures... Also now my standards of quality, anyway, are better than earlier and I always fix problem places. So, no, I don't want to talk about new goals (like peds) now.

 

All places with bad collisions, that I'll notice, will be fixed in the mod.

 

By the way, there is one good project by another author - San Andreas Map Fixes. Like me, author fixes problem places on the game map. But I must notice that I am not watch for this mod and not synchronize our fixes.

I was thinking that maybe you should do this once everything is done and this mod is 100% complete, but I guess I forgot to tell you that detail. I also said this because I thought you were going to convert every single ped model in the game, but I guess it's not the case (I don't know why I thought that). Yes, don't worry, your suggestion is good, but I really don't have skills to do this (remodel each pedestrian model), and generally any work with peds is not included into "to-do list" of this project (and was not announced too).

 

Also, I think that this can take a long time, and I don't want to make this mod forever. :) I want to do mod as good as I can, so be better now to fully concentrate on game world.

 

Again thanks for you all for support me with this mod, you, maybe, even don't know how this is important. Just one good comment and for me more pleasant to work with mod.

 

By the way, I prepared some screenshots and want to post them very soon.

Looking good. Nice to see a texture modification which tries to keep a feeling of original ones.

 

I wish you good luck with project and it's really wonderful to see that SA is still alive and modifications for this game are still developing.

 

Anyway, I wonder how would you deal with 'Windy Windy Windy Street' in San Fierro. I mean a texture mapping on the curvy road. I don't want to say anything, just take look at it and you'll see what I mean :lol:

Hello all, who watch for the development of my modification and I am sorry for so long delays between posting of messages and images. Even when I did not post something for a long time, know that mod is not abandoned, and I hope that you too will not forget about it. Today I'll show you one office building. Pay attention that this building has its own interior. Well, this is just decoration. There are no any objects (they «drawn» on the walls textures), and player can not enter there (only see from far distance, from the ground — through the windows). Fake interior was created for illusion that office building has different rooms and so on.

Now images from HRT 1.4. Despite that interior is just a decoration (and player can see it only through the windows on the far distance), I've used quality textures with high definition, which may be suitable and for main location and look good even from close range!

Thanks, RemixPLrc96. What about that road - I remember it, it was retextured in 2014, when I was working on San Fierro. I don't remember, whether I did screenshots, or not (if yes, they can be somewhere there), but

I agree, it would probably look better if there was something else in place. Rockstar can make some weird decisions design wise.

 

The elevator texture looks good, is it for a top floor though? Both arrows are pointing downwards.

Don't know about removing of plants - because in the original game they are, and don't forget, mates, that we can see interior only from the street through the windows. About the elevator - yes, my fault, will be fixed. Well, some new screenshots of the same place.

I will not add new animated textures on the objects, but frames of original ones (they are in .txd, like ordinary textures) will be retextured like all other textures. :) Edited by Flame

I can see where you're coming from on this but don't you realize that players can still use the jet pack to get up there and see up close plus the helicopters? Instead of making the trees built in the textures can you add actual plants in there? I also want to create paths in there someday (and add collision if there is none) so it actually looks realistic and alive. Speaking of animated textures in Las Venturas, did you know some of the animations there are missing on the PC version but are present on the PS2 version, so the PC version isn't better in that aspect. Those textures are crucial to making the place seem alive so can you HD-ify and add those textures too? It would be a ginormous shame if they are absent from this mod. Also speaking of missing objects, there's plenty in Las Venturas, can you remaster and restore them?

It's not as much of a "they were cut from the PC version of the game" as much of a "Rockstar just fudged up the models while porting them to PC using their top of the line 'potato'". The missing animations were mostly in the casinos and the camera screens. Those animations are not intended to change the atmosphere of the game to "PS2", they were just missing because Rockstar forgot to add them to the game because they were exhausted from all that partying and drinking booze they had after celebrating the fact that they just sold sixty-nine quattuorquinquagintillion copies of their game that they had just let it slip (not really). I found this out somewhere along the PS2 to PC topic somewhere. Sorry, I just tend to perseverate on those little details like the interiors of that building. Wait a second... The Duke Of Nukes, not the same buildings (with fake interior), just a lot of different buildings, interesting and not very. Check first post of the thread to see the list of goals. I don't know, why they "forgot" to port animations, but in some details (like resolution of textures, in PS2 used more optimized ones than in PC) PC version is better. By the way, I never played in PS2 version, and for me PC variant is more "canonical", for other people - PS2 variant (and they like "orange" color correction).

 

Well, If someone ported models with animated textures - it's very good, and I can modify and to include them. Basically, mod is based on PC version, and I did not want to research PS2 version and watch its files. :)

Images with road texture that uses for some roads on this section. Road texture is made from scratch and has 2048x2048 resolution (in some places can be used more optimized variant due the limitations of the game).

This is can be interesting for you. I've published a note about using of materials from other GTA titles.

Materials from other Rockstar's titles are helpful in the development

 

In the mod some things from the mobile version of GTA: San Andreas are used, and this is one of good mod's features.

GTA SA was re-released on iOS and Android in 2013\2014. Materials in this version, as a rule, are fully the same as in the PC variant. Only some textures (like vegetation textures) became better. Those textures also will be used in the mod.

In the mod are used player parts (CJ model) from mobile version. Thanks to this, his model will be more detailed. In particular, CJ has better and «split» fingers now.


Another story. Not a long ago was released mobile version of GTA: Liberty City Stories (originally released in 2005 on PSP, later on PS2). As for a lot of modders, I was very interested in technical realization of this game and decided to research its files. I was wondered when I found a lot of really quality textures. Re-released (2015\2016) version of this game is remastered much better and global than previous mobile GTA games. Unlike previous ports, where only some aspects were better, a lot of textures in mobile LCS game now have 512x512 pixels resolution. I decided to use some textures from this game in the mod, or parts of the textures. In the game there are a lot of textures with buildings parts and other things which are difficult to find for me, so using of some LCS textures can help me sometimes. They will not be used «as is», because this is not «LCS in GTA SA» mod; they will be remade to be similar to textures that will be replaced.

Also I plan to research GTA V materials. This game, with its really high quality graphics, contains a lot of good textures, and these can be again parts of the buildings, facades etc, that are difficult to find.

I must notice — the main part is my own textures. Mod has a huge part of photorealistic author's textures. Using of textures from R* titles can help me to save some time, and I don't consider this as copyright violation, because these are: 1) R* games, not games from other companies (and I will never use textures from other games, my mod is not some unprofessional pack of stuff that stolen from different games), 2) I spent years on modding of R* games and make non-commercial mod for one of their games, so this is not something bad, I can use some textures for «difficult» places.

LAn2, №10: Billboards


There are few images with billboards on these section. Billboards usually have an advertisement of different companies and brands from GTA universe (as a rule, parodies on famous brands from real life).

A lot of billboards textures were fully reworked, including redrawn logos. By the way, for this is needed to find the same or very similar to the original font, and add the new text as on the original variant.

Today are posted new HRT 1.4 in-game screenshots with some buildings on LAn2 section (part of Los Santos). This part of the location has a lot of skyscrapers and office buildings, but and living buildings too. Textures of each model, as always, were reworked.
