Escort.cs not working with GTA IV v1.0.4.0

Hi there,

I no absolutely nothing about scripting/coding but am learning all the time. I started playing about with various script mods and so far have got .asi files to work as they just go in the main GTA IV directory and .net.dll files in the Scripts folder but I am having problems with .cs scripts in the Scripts folder especially the Escort.cs mod by Matt19811 http://www.gtagaming.com/downloads/gta-iv/script-mods/14082

I am running a genuine version of GTA IV with patch v1.0.4.0 and have Scripthook.dll v0.2.6.0, Scripthookdotnet.asi v0.8.9.3 beta and xlive.dll for v1.0.4.0.

I think it might be an issue with the keyboard commands specified to be used in the mod. The actions are for keys 1,2 and 3 (not numpad keys) and as advised in the readme by the author I changed the weapon slots in game to make slots 1,2 and 3 available. This had no affect so I am out of ideas.

Below is a copy of what was written in the Scripthookdotnet.log file if that gives you any help.

Remember I no nothing about scripting so please assume I no nothing.

If you need to see the script file itself I don't know what the rules are about posting that on here?

Thanks

that file extention has nothing to do with gta

its a c sharp (C#) programming source code file that has to be compiled with visual studio (microsoft)

that .dot net sdk provides script examples for making scripts in .net related languages

such as csharp or vb.net etc

So what you wanna do first is figure out what computer programming language you want scripts with

personally i really only like c++ and there for would not use the .net hook and instead use ARU's

original ScriptHook instead (which supports c++)

You may want to look at SCOCL i think its called

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=492143

but that may be ever harder to learn i dunno

You need something like Microsoft Visual Studio to compile the source code into .asi or .dll files

to use the thing example scripts

No, he doesn't. I think the only problem is that GTAIV 1.0.4.0 is really outdated and he doesn't have compatible mods.

I believe your scripthook.net is too old (Initializing ScriptHookDotNet v0.893 BETA (GTA IV version 1.0.4.0)). Thus, it can't find the commands used in the escort script (e.g. this error "10 Errors in script 'F:\Games\Playing\GTA IV\Game Install\Grand Theft Auto IV\scripts\Escort.cs':").

Try to find the latest version of scripthook.net. I believe it is 1.7.1.7 beta. It is compatible with all older versions of GTA, and should run your scripts.

Hope this helps.
