Subscription Notification Emails

At the bottom of each one, it says "There may be more replies to this topic, but only 1 email is sent per board visit for each subscribed topic. This is to limit the amount of mail that is sent to your inbox."

So I should get only one email per thread, yet sometimes I've had two for the same thread many times. Didn't care much but I checked my inbox a few minutes ago and there were four emails there, all for the same thread. Surely that isn't supposed to happen? dozingoff.gif

I think you're confusing the topic tracking with the sub forum one. If you are tracking a topic you'll receive an e-mail with a notification about every new reply which the text you've quoted.

EDIT: I believe that you get one e-mail once. You check the topic via GTAForums, and you'll get later another notification with the new replies since your last visit.

It can happen, if you visit the forum and someone has posted in the topic you've subscribed to, then you will get an email sent, then you leave the forum and the come back again and some posts again then you will get another one sent. Now you might only leave the forums for a second, but that is enough.

Then it could be down to how often your email refreshes, so by the time you check your emails, then they will have stacked up.

Occasionally it can happen that you may get one or two more notifications and that could be down the forums themselves, the Gaffa tape used to hold this place together can only do so much. But there is nothing much you can do to stop it.

Keep in mind this forums software is based on when the vast majority of email providers allowed a tiny amount of email storage or capacity (in Mb etc), so that line about reducing emails sent could be read as a bit of legacy, but then there is no harm in leaving it on there as some folk still might have email providers with small limits.
