GTA V should have no aids for consoles

I can't be the only one who plays on Consoles and absolutely HATED the aiming aids not only Rockstar put on GTA IV but many other companies on many other video games designed to be multi-platform

If you don't know what I mean, I'm talking about the lower sensitivity when behind cover so you can aim better, this not only makes you aim worse but it also restricts you and I have been killed countlessly before because of it, since it forces you to have your aim at a certain point until your low sensitivity is gone.

It's also the view "aid" in vehicles, where you want to look in one direction but since you're moving, the view always wants to stick at looking infront of the car which is insanely annoying.

It's on Helicopters aswell and when driving cars, it's EVERYWHERE, it's like Rockstar thinks that Consoles are still in the Nintendo N64 era where the controllers were very constricted which is not true, an experienced console player in a game where there are little to no aids on everything can play almost just aswell as a PC player.

Also, talking about aids that restrict you.

Helicopters, I hate how in Helicopters you've got Auto-Hover that is insanely annoying, it restricts what you can do in a helicopter and makes flying them tiresome and makes them less maneuverable. A perfect example of how bad the Auto-Hover is I'm going to give an example from Battlefield, since Battlefield : vietnam the helicopters never had any aids to them, it was either a make or break situation in the beginning, it was really hard for beginners to fly a helicopter, but as you got used to it you could do whatever you'd like since you weren't restricted, you could even do a barrel roll in the helicopters if you were experienced enough, then the Bad Company series came along and since they thought Console players were as dumb as a nail they added in all sorts of aids for the helicopters, which did not help the new players and only limited the experienced players, they then realized their mistakes and removed the auto-hover and auto-stabilizing from the helicopters for all platforms, PC and Consoles and now Console players can fly just as well, in fact they fly better than PC players using a mouse since the Joysticks on Controllers are more suitable in flying aircrafts than KB/M does.

Cars, all cars seem to have ABS, Active Steering, Traction Control, ASR etc. I can understand that they've added these things in for more realism and help the new players to drive, but if I were going to purchase a car which had all of these gismos but no ability to turn them off if you'd like to I would not buy it, but I would buy a car that had all these gismos and buttons to turn them off separately.

Racing games have all these aids but they give the option to turn them off or slightly lower them, a perfect example is Gran Turismo 5, you can customize the driving aids to your liking which you think is best for you to get the best time on the track, but if I could not customize them or turn them off and only have the Default I would go insane, less Traction Control means I can go faster through corners, Anti Brake System off means I can powerslide through corners if I need to or want to, it's also good for me to not have ABS when I am on a dirt track since it only limits my options on how I can cut that corner.

You may say "But this is not a driving simulator", I don't care if it's a driving simulator, I want the ability to turn all these options off, I absolutely hate when the computer aids in my driving or aids in my aiming, I can turn off Auto-Aim but I can't turn off the low sensitivity that occurs when I use the cover system, nor can I turn off the Active Steering or the ABS or the Traction Control or the ASR or the Auto-Hover system or the Auto-Stabilizing, all it does is restrict those who know how to control these vehicles, nothing more, nothing less.

I discussed about that in the last paragraph wink.gif

Totally f*cking agree. That is one of the most annoying things they implement into games.

I absolutely cannot stand always having to change my view when driving, it's actually gotten

To the point where i have to hold my thumbstick at a certain spot while driving in order to

have the view i want. Ridiculous. At least give us the option to turn that bullsh*t off.

I'd like the option to switch it on or off. I'd like it off when doing missions and stuff to make it more difficult over all but sometimes when I'm just running about starting a rampage it's more fun with all the assists.

I want to be able to turn traction control off and stability control off in cars.

I couldn't agree more, I don't want R* to turn this game into a noob utopia. The aiming aids principle actually resembles the socialist ideal when you think about it, lol. Worse for the rich (the experienced players, in this case), only to improve it for the poor (the less experienced players, in this case) suicidal.gif

Sry if this post is offensive to some of you, it's just my opinion. wink.gif

Like you said in the last paragraph, make it all optional. Everyone wins.

Are you positive?

Only if there are doctors and pharmacies though, I don't want to end up on the outside of a hospital just because of one bad sexual partner.

You can turn off the auto aim on consoles for GTA IV

I do realize that, what I was talking about is when you're behind cover, your aim seems to want to be aiming at only one place, try using the cover system behind a wall, then try to move your aim somewhere, you'll see that it's insanely difficult to get out of it, well, not difficult but it takes some time and it's nothing but frustrating and does nothing to help.

This thread isn't only about the visual aids such as Aiming "assist" when behind cover or when driving, it's also about 'Aids' in vehicles if you haven't read the whole thread.

Yea me too. And I agree, more options!!! but for multiplayer please let it all be off, because in multiplayer mafiya work and car jack city is dead because of auto-aimers not playing on disallow angry.gif the same would be for race when looking for a pro driver who doesn't use any assist

Actually if you held the left trigger half way down you could free aim without it auto aiming.

Nit-picking at its finest

This

honestly, it didn't bother me that much in GTA IV/RDR

The point of the camera re-centering is so you can go around corners using only the left stick and without needing to adjust the camera. Right thumbstick is just to look around, which is all I need.

That I understand but it happens to quickly, but I would much prefer if it didn't happen at all, I hope we get the option to turn these things off in the menu.

I would hate driving without the auto centering cam. Although, it would also be nice to be able to look a different way and have it stay when you wanted. Maybe a button press that locks the cam in that view. Then maybe even have a way to move the cam where you want, press a button (or do this from options) and it will now be your default cam view for driving.

Other then that, MP3 has the option to turn off some of the aiming aids you mentioned. I would expect V to have something very similar.

I agree with you on the car traction control. There should be an option although ABS is fine. Modern vehicles in GTA IV have it while the older ones don't and tend to lock up under heavy braking which is correct.

AIDS? AIDS is a desease. Or am I wrong? suicidal.gif

It's an STI. People used to call them STDs, but now it's STI.
