Durden
I don't know about the chainsaw, but I'm pretty certain the flamethrower will return. So wait, you're not sure about a gardening tool any idiot can buy at lowes, but you're certain about a weapon that can shoot flaming fuel over a large area and onto people and cars? I mean, don't get me wrong, apparently you can buy and rent flamethrowers on the internet these days, but I do know that most tool stores carry chainsaws, so what makes chainsaws less plausible? Ease of access is completely irrelevant in this discussion - with this HD era and all, disturbing weapons like Chainsaws & Katanas will probably not be in the game, especially considering V is supposed to have gore like MP3. Like it or not, there is a certain line that cannot be crossed - not even by R*. Why do you think we can't de-limb people in GTA? Because R* are smarter than that. And a chainsaw without de-limbing effects is worse than having no chainsaw at all. Mortal Kombat lets you slice and dice people 67 ways from sunday with fatalities everywhere and it didn't get banned. The controversy excuse is a bullsh*t excuse and has been for a long time. Fox News doesn't decide which games get banned by the government, and they don't decide when GTA has crossed any sort of line. I have no idea how you can compare those 2 games. GTA could be considered a real-life simulator while Mortal Kombat is an intentionally fictitious fighting game. If we were talking about some street fighting game, then maybe R* would be able to get away with that sh*t. But we're talking about a living, breathing city here. It's just too much. Real life simulator? We are talking about the game that lets you blow yourself up with a rocket launcher off the empire state building and then get healed by the hospital in six hours for a cost of 200 dollars, right? According to Les The Benz, a key figure in Rockstar, whose work as the series producer has given him a multi-million pound fortune. “Until we’ve simulated the world outside,” he says, “we’re not going to stop.” -http://www.scotsman.com/scotland-on-sunday/scotland/the-perfect-crime-inside-the-minds-of-the-scottish-creators-of-grand-theft-auto-1-2165895 It seems like R* consider GTA to be a simulator. It may not seem so obvious yet since the hardware is limited, but it definitely seems like R* want GTA to be a real-life crime simulator. Which is why our 3 characters have superpowers and can all carry 12 weapons. Silly me, how could I be so dense? I mean, don't you have super powers and enough space on your body for 12 weapons? Maybe I do Seriously, though - those are Lezlie's words, not mine. Maybe they have since changed their minds about GTA's direction. If they have, you can't blame me since they should be considered a reliable source. Its always possible that sometime in the future, we may lose the fun unrealistic things that GTA has such as unrealistic weapon carrying, minor repercussions, special abilities, etc... But that's too far away to discuss.

I mean, even GTA IV let you burn people to death with molotovs and watch every second of their screaming agony as their flesh gets bacon fried. Yet dismemberment is too far? Why? antisatan7
Killing people is the name of the game. The more ways the merry. The more realistic the better of course without straying from it's sense of humor. Realism just creates more opportunities and interesting situations. Just don't make the victims helpless. Why not see people burning in the streets while other pedestrians are pouring the rest of their coffees on the burning victim to put him out. Then some people are slipping on the coffee flowing sidewalk, then landing in the street while cars are swerving around the scene crashing into other people? Why not? killing and getting killed, trying to survive and protect this body or that body is the name of the game.
tinman187
I'd also like to see a concrete driller, hand drill, hacksaw, Sledgehammers and a blowtorch
antisatan7
Not only chainsaws and sh*t but just look around you. Realistically there is crazy sh*t all around to kill people with. Pencils, vacuums, smashing heads with tables, shoving rocks down peoples throats or smashing their face with one, duck tape around the eyes so they can walk into on coming traffic or off a cliff, blending hands and feet (will it blend?), roped around the neck tied to the car dragging through the street, needle to overdose someone with drugs to watch them walk around all loopy until death, throwing electronics into bath tubs, poisonous paintballs in paintball guns, sling shots, sharp sh*t like broken glass bottles and glass from car wrecks, shoving someone in the refrigerator or freezer and welding it together. Some dude on a ladder, you push it his leg gets caught and twisted around the steps snapping his knee, suffocating with a trash bags, guy tied to hot air balloon/blimp to either try to fall and survive paralyzed or die from starvation, fishing pole line, chocking a guy with his work tie or scarf, hammers, and the list goes on and on. I think that it may still be too early for extremely realistic video game gore. Politicians are still (hopelessly) trying to point fingers at games, trying to find connections to real-life violence etc... I think that R* said that quote about "simulating the world outside" because they're hopeful that in the future people will be a lot more lenient and the media won't care too much. I just think that video games as a whole need to slowly ease into gore, just like R* have been doing with their games. Now its MP3 gore, and soon we may see even more. It just needs some time, is all.
