Interesting choice of words if so. Driving implies automobiles/motorcycles etc not aircraft.

Bst gameplay ever!

TBH I hope it kills GTA V.

Rockstar always needed competition.

First time I watched it I thought that was more an RX-7. This game looks great, and has a great concept. Hopefully the actual gameplay, physics and general quality are up to par, because I REALLY want this game to be as good as it seems right now.

In your video it was red, in mine it was black...

I bet you didn't see this either;

The livestream is a different version to the "official" one recorded for advertising purposes.

In the livestream the player is a bit more casual about it and not moving neatly etc, in the "proper" video the player is moving Pearce realistically and smoothly.

Rockstar always needed competition.

If this game ends up being anywhere near as good as I'd like to think it will be, then Rockstar could be in whole heap of sh*t when it comes to hitting their projected sales target with V. Don't get me wrong, V will still sell well, but if it has to go up against a competitive product that not only ends up being amazing, but also cross-gen, then that is undoubtedly going to lead to sales falling short of what they could have been.

And that begs the question, if Ubisoft can announce this new IP at E3 2012 and then have it go cross-gen and be a next-gen launch title in Q4 2013, then why can't Rockstar get that done with V? I still believe there is some chance of that happening.

Also the 'PlayStation' demo was played on a PC icon14.gif

With specs similar to the PS4's? I hope so, because a lot of people will be dissapointed if the game didn't look this good on the next gen consoles. Not me, but lots of people will be.

Yeah he claimed it was similar specs to a PS4. But in all honestly I expect it was the absolute top-end PC that money can buy.

Maybe it's just me, but it didn't really look and run that good. I think a really, really high-end PC should be able to run this at 60FPS, no? Watch Dogs didn't really look that smooth yesterday. Amazing game don't get me wrong, and the graphics are amazing compared to current gen's games but won't really be the best when you compare it with the PC version of upcoming games like The Witcher 3, Cyperpunk and Star Citizen. So if that is Watch Dogs on high/ultra, then lots of console folks will be dissapointed. Again, not me, because graphics don't really matter that much to me (I still play a lot of PS1/PS2 games) but it does for some people.

The world and everything in it look much more proportional and less scripted than IV of V. Which is a definite plus. Both Watch Dogs and GTA V will be magnificent in their own right.

Nah, I think most HIGH END PCs are capable of doing more than just that, Look at Agni's Philosophy or UE4 Elemental Demo, Watch Dogs while not MIND BLOWING is truly impressive for being an Open World game, You really know the game is next gen when you see the NPC models so high poly, The textures and everything.

Dem multiplayer details from a Kotaku interview:

Kotaku: I seem to remember that you guys talked about asynchronous multiplayer design at E3. Is that what we saw at the end of the demo, where the camera was being hacked?

Morin: Yeah, that's a nice observation. Not everybody picked that up. Watch Dogs is all about hyperconnectivity. To me, that has to mean all the time and anywhere. So yes, other people are out there all the time, when you don't expect it. Whether you're playing single-player or multiplayer, it's happening. You're saying asynchronous but it's much more real-time than that…

Kotaku: Because we saw a real-time demo tonight, right? What we saw was another player jumping into the game and affecting a certain part of the gameplay…

Morin: Yes, exactly. There's more detail to come on that.

Kotaku: And that was a camera being hacked. To help or hurt Aiden?

Morin: Oh, help! Or not! I think both are interesting questions. We'll let players do pretty much what they want on those terms. And I think that what's interesting is that since we're creating a fantasy that you can progressively control all of Chicago and monitor everything… if you can do that… you need to ask yourself if Aiden Pearce can do all of this, can anybody else out there do the same thing? And the answer is absolutely yes.

Kotaku: He's not a special snowflake.

Morin: He is not. [laughs]

So yeah, we actually got to see a little bit of multiplayer action from that live demo.

Creed Bratton

I like the sound of that. Other players being able to set obstacles or help out without you even knowing? It changes everything. A.I. can only do so much because it's scripted. But real people? That definitely increases replayability.

1. On a ctOS billboard just before Pearce stops the train is the url of the ctOS website = www.chicago-ctos.com

If you go on this you'll find the page has been pseudo-hacked by DedSec. If you look through the trailer there is DedSec graffiti, and similarly styled graffiti on another ctOS billboard (when Pearce is anticipating the mugging). DedSec is presumably a rival NPC hacker or faction. Their slogan is Quis Custodiet Costodes Ipsos, latin for "Who watches the watchers?"

2. The security cameras both at the end of the video and at the start display the monicker "PixxelFD". Was I the only one who googled this and found that it's the username of a Ubisoft employee? (One of the names at the end of the E3 original uncut trailer when it cut to multiplayer) At the end of the trailer, the camera aparrently 'fails' because it was detected. Combined with suspicious wording by Jonathan Morin about the first security camera and info from another thread (and direct twitter confirmation from him after the first trailer about dynamic multiplayer) it seems safe to assume that this isn't exactly a single player demonstration.

So that's two viral marketing websites.

I didn't get it straight away, but in the GT aftershow interview with Morin he said the camera was controlled by other players.

I think the objective would be to operate the cameras and tail the player controlling Aiden for as long as possible - gaining xp or whatever for the amount of time he was in view. The player controlling Aiden would gain xp for hacking the cameras or losing their tail. Could also be where they got the line "Who watches the watchers" from - or even the name "Watch Dogs."

The concept amazes me - it's also going to happen in PvP multiplayer too. So you'll have some players out on the streets and others operating cameras. I suppose you'd have to identify other players using your mobile device and hacking into them. It has a feel of Assassin's Creed MP, but with there being asynchronous games happening simultaneously it will feel much more alive.

Day one buy for me - it's just a matter of which console I'll be getting it on.

The game looks great but I don't like the "sci-fi" elements that much. It might not even be a serious competitor for V.

I'm pretty sure this isn't some run-of-the-mill generic 10 minute deathmatch in a tiny enclosed map multiplayer, I'm hoping it's a proper drop-in drop-out world where people fight for technological advantage over everyone else, by means of shutting down power grids, setting up security cameras, etc.

First of graphics wise it blows GTA V out of the the water.

It's no longer obligatory to use weapons since your smartphone is the most powerful weapon there is.

The city is also much more and denser populated. Vehicles are more defined and pedestrians act and react much more realistically.

Last but not least it's something new and fresh. The setting and the leitmotiv haven't been touched before making it a truly unique and above all new and exciting experience which will undoubtedly sell very good.

Graphics are superior but I'm not too concerned about them. The game can still suck.

Does that sound like a good idea to you? For me it's kind of a turn off. It sounds too unrealistic.

Compared to what? V? You don't know that.

So far it doesn't look that much like GTA, that's why I think it might not be a serious competitor. It seems that they are aiming for something different.

I would love a serious open world game to rival GTA, but this game is going in a different direction. It seems to rely on technology quite a bit, technology that looks far fetched. Or is this game supposed to be set in the future? I'd prefer something more actual.

I think it is set in the modern, current time. But with a bit of a dystopian spin on surveillance and everyone and everything being online. Very smart move to make a game about that since it's very present in the news and on the www's in the last few years and people are interested in it. If you've ver watched person of interest you know what I mean. It's kind of like that.

Sounds like a modern day Britain if you ask me. Though in all seriousness I could see this franchise moving towards a more global audience as it seems that there are a number of places in the modern world that would be very interesting to dissect and find out about, since that seems to be Ubisoft's new forte, creating really interesting and deep conspiracy theories.

Anyone else wondering just how many people or NPC's in the game will have individual stories and back stories, the demo shown at the PlayStation 4 reveal show looked just like free-roam so I'm really intrigued to see just how much I can find out about the NPC's that are walking around me. I feel like it adds a kind of ... I don't know extra depth ? Where the pedestrians around me cease to become cannon fodder and actually take on somewhat of a personality changing them from the generic NPC's of a free-roam game and into actual characters with a small amount of depth in the

I've also been thinking what can we use currency for in the game. We all saw from the demo that we can hack into people's bank accounts and steal some of their cash (maybe even route it to those in more need like the homeless guy we saw in the demo) but what possible use will it serve ? Will we be able to upgrade our equipment and by extension the control we have over the city ? If so this game is sounding better and better every time I see it.

Oh and another thing, will we be able to see dynamic randomly generated side missions/quests just by walking around the city (another thing we saw in the demo, though I can't be sure if that was in mission or not due to intro cutscene and of course the ending cutscene, though there's no saying they're just there for the sake of the presentation and won't be making an appearance like that in the final game) and if so will they be dependent on the type of characters that we'll see in the game, for example we could find a homeless guy that recently lost a legal battle with his wife and has been thrown out on to the street try and blow up her car or something.

Whatever the case may be this is looking to be one of 2013's most promising games and certainly one that I'll be keeping a close eye on.

I've said it before, but while I personally feel far-fetched technology and absurd hacking capabilities are very poor themes for a movie, they can make for some immensely stellar gameplay. And that's what has caught my interest in this game (along with Chicago being an excellent setting for an open world game). I absolutely love the idea of being able to anonymously f*ck with the city and everyone in it via hacking into various systems, so for me, it's this kind of vandalistic mischief that can make a game incredibly immersive and addictive.

Even if V and WD were to release on the same day, I'd still get both of them, but it'd be a coin toss which one I'd load up first.

I dropped my jaw when I saw this, I hae a gut-feeling that WD will actually be a game which will deliver what we have seen so far. And more likely it will grow into a new IP such as GTA is nowadays. But I pray endlessly that Ubisoft won't start milking WD out like they have done with AC, especially AC III.

I wonder what the point of money in this game will be?

I heard that Ubisoft aren't really known for customisation so I doubt it will be anything down the route of clothing or anything to do with changing appearance...
