I read that the map of Watch Dogs is large. I don't remember where I read that but since very little is known about this game, let see some suggestions:

radio stations for the vehicles

what type of activities prob will be in the game

perhaps countryside to the west of Chicago

smaller lakes to the northwest like real life Chicago

how many airports and air transportation availability

smaller towns outside of Chicago?

bars/dance clubs?

ghetto area?

map an island?

improved vehicle physics?

Yes, I also saw an interview where Ubisoft said something along the lines of "it has to be large enough to have really fast sports cars". Even from the end of the gameplay demo, when it zooms out, you can tell that the map's pretty massive. As for the speculation,

radio stations for the vehicles

Not that important to me as long as there are some good songs, both old and new, and some sketchy host(s).

what type of activities prob will be in the game

They did say there will be side missions/activities, so I'm going to guess Racing. I seriously can't think of anything else that would suit the setting.

perhaps countryside to the west of Chicago

Eh, from the looks of the game, I already get the vibe that the map is gonna be a concrete jungle like IV. I imagine that we'll be able to swim on the surface of the water but not go under, also like IV.

smaller lakes to the northwest like real life Chicago

Yes I can already imagine speedboat races or swimming, but not much more than that.

how many airports and air transportation availability

I can confidently assume that there will be flyable helicopters, but no planes. I don't think the map will be large enough. I think Ubisoft want you to mainly use cars and parkour.

smaller towns outside of Chicago?

Would be a nice surprise, but like I said, I don't see the map being massive, say the scale of GTAV. I expect something like IV's map.

bars/dance clubs?

We've already seen this in the demo, now all we need to know is interactivity. I have no clue what we'll be able to do besides scan people's ID.

ghetto area?

I can sort of see that. Or some kind of rebel area, where a group of people are against technology... Something like that.

map an island?

Very interesting, as I cannot see WD being an island because then I feel as if it would appear as a copy of GTA IV. However that's the most likely scenario in my mind.

improved vehicle physics?

Have you seen the garbage blow with the wind on the street? That should say enough -- the physics will be great in WD. Perhaps even better than GTAV?

Side Notes:

I'm looking forward to the parkour; hopefully we can climb numerous things and not just vault like we've seen in the trailer. I expect to be using a lot of fire escapes, ladders, and jumping gaps. I hope there are lots of weapons, and that there are more hacking options than what we've seen in the demo, which portrays only about 8 (hack lights, bridge, communications, etc...)

I'm really hoping to see more of this game soon. I'd love for a 2013 release on the new consoles, but that's probably wishful thinking. Whilst I love the GTA franchise, it's good that there's finally another competitor besides Saints Row in the genre.

Radio stations:

dubstep, heavy metal, opera, perhaps a strange talk show host like Lazlow, political commentary, hip hop, trance, d&B, and even country id they include a countryside in this game.

activities: perhaps firing range, racing, theater and plays, comedians like in IV, art decos, bowling with Jordy(just had to), fishing, hunting(if there is a countryside), shopping

I'm hoping there is a countryside. Even though the map is already large, the developers stated it wasn't finished yet. Perhaps Ubi Montreal is building the outskirts of Chicago and possibly hick towns to the west.

Smaller lakes to the northwest . If Ubi Montreal is true to the depiction of Chicago, these will be featured ingame. I can imagine fishing and even boat racing on the small and large lakes.

I believe there could be three airports. A parody of O Hare will be quite a sight to see. Some country landing strip could be nice too.

Ubi Montral could be making smaller towns so Aiden won't be cooped in urban jungle all the time. Give the man a little breathing room while not in the city.

bars/dance clubs. I believe so. How many and what kind is to be determined.

Chicago is notorious for its South Side area and that could truly be represented as a parody of such a dangerous part of Chicago. Aiden will have to be on his best guard in said area.

The map could be an island. Most open world maps are islands and since there aren't mountains near Chicago, I don't see any way to make borders for the west side of the map.

Do you all think Ubi Montreal will give this game some humor and social commentary like R does with its games or the parodies of real life places will be the closest they will have to copying the R style?

radio stations for the vehicles

This is an obvious feature that'll almost certainly appear in game, the only question is whether they'll pull a Far Cry 3, which is to say whether or not they'll only have a few pieces of music playing in a vehicle and the player can't control what plays and when.

Though I'm unsure if it'd work in a game like Watch Dogs, as there seem to be a large number of vehicles that the player may be able to commandeer at any time and Far Cry 3's vehicle system was more about traveling from point A to point B rather than cruising through and admiring the island, which to be honest was the whole point of the wingsuit and the gliders.

Then there's the music that you'd actually want in the game, now I'm going to guess that there'll be music specific to in game events and missions ala

or Max Payne 3's final mission. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Watch Dogs go through the route of scripted musical sequences at specific points in the game, and that's all well and good, but you've got to learn to balance that and every game up to this point that's had that feature has never put the player in charge of deciding what music should play when.

This is were it starts getting complicated, if the developers of Watch Dogs want to maintain the feeling that we all felt during the first trailer back at E3 then it'll need to maintain a constant atmospherics, I know it's not the best example, but would Amnesia: The Dark Decent be half as good if it had the My Little Pony intro theme playing in the background at all times ? Probably not.

map an island?

Once again I'd say this is a forgone conclusion but then again it being Ubisoft it's possible that they could go the Assassin's Creed route in which there will be natural barriers in the gameworld the prevent you from being able to cross them and escape the boundaries of the gameworld.

Personally, I'd like to see an island. I don't often like to be limited in my approach when playing a freeroam game and that's exactly what Watch Dogs is looking to strive to be, in nearly every sense from the missions to your options of travelling I'm certain that they wouldn't let the island opportunity slip them by here.

improved vehicle physics?

This again sounds like a forgone conclusion, I know for a fact though that Ubisoft will almost certainly deliver on this front as the handling for vehicles in Far Cry 3 was great and I can only hope to see more as time goes on. There's a few issues that Ubisoft are going to face though, for example this'll be their first third person game in which driving will most likely be a major feature is almost certainly going to be a tricky thing for them to get right but I have hope that they'll do well in this situation as well.

Those were really the only features I care about, as long as they maintain the atmosphere and gameplay I couldn't careless about the side activities available or the environment the game takes place in

has there been any new stuff since the announcement? ubisoft seems to be keeping as quiet as R*

It does seem strange that Ubisoft is keeping quiet. I think they want to surprise us like R is doing with V. I imagine the excitement when Ubisoft shows more screens pertaining to this game:

Screens like these"

Aiden holding a fishing pole as the screen overlooks a large lake northwest of Chicago

Aiden hacking a phone of a guy wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots in what looks to be a small town

Jordy holding a gun firing at the police with the background of an airport runway

Aiden driving a sports car similiar to the one in the Richman hotel screen

Those would be some pretty neat screens.

Watch Dogs, the impressive-looking game that stole the show at last year's E3, will be out this holiday for "all home consoles," according to leaked marketing materials received by Kotaku today.

Check the images below to see both the front and back of the marketing materials, which mention a quote from G4 about the game being a "truly next-gen adventure."

All home consoles. Truly next-gen adventure. Could publisher Ubisoft perhaps be hinting at something? As most people predicted last year when the French publisher showed Watch Dogs in action, this is indeed a next-gen game.

Ubisoft has already confirmed that the stunning open-world game—a cyberpunky adventure that involves a lot of computers—will be coming to PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Now it's become clear that it will also be on the next Xbox and PlayStation, which have not yet been announced but are expected this holiday season.

Can I have the source, please?

Guay is cagey when we ask exactly how large Watch Dogs' urban playground will be,but promises a substantial sandbox to mess around in.

"We don't give specific numbers - the main reason is we still want to be able to tweak that to optimise the fun - but it's pretty large," he explains.

"What you saw in the demo was just a little street corner in The Loop in Chicago but you can go way beyond that - you can crossrivers and explore much bigger lands. Our cars go very fast - they go up to 180 kph. You can't have a small city with cars going that fast."

I wish the Wiener Circle is in this game so we can hack the grills and ovens in that bitch and burn those fat sluts! MWAHAHAHAHA!!11 I hate the Wiener Circle..

Anyways, I'm not sure if all Chicago is going to be in it. The more I think about it, the more I doubt they'll put small neighborhoods, but I hope they put ROGERS PARK!

Wow, so this is out at the end of the year and Rockstar are STILL yet to announce a PC version of GTAV, if Ubisoft play this right, they could sweep in and steal a lot of hype from GTA V on that basis alone.

False alarm. I actually thought it would be MPH which is pretty good, but it's 180 KPH in the game, which is only around 110MPH.

Argh, well that's annoying, I sincerely hope that they made the mistake of saying kph instead of mph...

Here's hoping...

Argh, well that's annoying, I sincerely hope that they made the mistake of saying kph instead of mph...

Here's hoping...

I suppose it's dependent on how much they're actually looking to reveal, I mean we know the game's got helicopters in it and I know for a fact they go much, much faster than 110 MPH (though I prefer using the metric system so it's quite painful to use that) so I'm guessing that there'll be a number of hidden vehicles that we haven't seen right away yet.

Oh and that's without even mentioning other forms of transport like trains, planes and the like. I'm almost certain that we're not going to see 180 KPH being the maximum speed for vehicles in the game, either that or maybe those helicopters we've seen in the trailer won't be flyable.

That doesn't necessarily mean that we won't be able to interact with them, I'm just guessing that if what Dominic Guay says is true and they stick to it, we won't be the ones flying the choppers in the game. Though once again this is only assuming that what he's said in that interview's the case, and he even said the following right before the statement about max vehicle speed.

"We don't give specific numbers - the main reason is we still want to be able to tweak that to optimise the fun - but it's pretty large,

From what I can tell they're being intentional vague and as such we should take everything we hear from Ubisoft with a pinch of salt.

Jeez, you guys are hard to impress. I was literally jaw dropped at the fluidity of the animations and sheer attention to detail. Not to mention the physics and lighting - it's phenomenal, especially for an open world game.

Yeah I think it will be a launch title on PS4 as will most of the other games shown at the conference namely Driveclub, Infamous: Second Son, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Destiny.

Yeah he claimed it was similar specs to a PS4. But in all honestly I expect it was the absolute top-end PC that money can buy.
