Hey Community,

as we know the PC version of Max Payne 3 has new DX11 effects, like charakter and vehicle tesselation and much more. Do you think R* will integrate this in GTA V, too?

Nope, they'll go back to DX3 and we'll control Minecraft guy.

Everything that the PC version of Max Payne 3 has (DX11), will also be in GTA V. I'm sure of it! If you ask me, i hope to see X360 Controller For Windows support in GTA V.

DX11 Supported things in Max Payne 3:

[WARNING: ultra-nerd text following!]

- Compute Shaders – HDAO/Blur

- Hull/Tessellation/Domain Shaders – Adding curvature to the character/vehicle models

- DX11 asynchronous resource creation

- DX11 self-managed resources. Provides system memory savings.

- Alpha Transparency Coverage Masks – When MSAA is enabled it helps the look of semi-transparent objects.

- Gather4 – Optimized Shadow Sampling / FXAA

- Geometry shader / Stream Output – Bokeh depth of field effect

- MSAA color/depth sub pixel sampling

- DX11 texture samplers

I hope they add tesselation and other DX11 effect that actually DO SOMETHING.

The tesselation in MP3 does almost nothing, it's just a little trick to lure a few PC gamers in by saying "look we have DX11"

I'm not saying that the game doesn't look good, it looks great but DX11 does next to nothing.

i don't think so. judging by the trailer, they won't

The trailer is most likely based on the 360 or PS3 version, like all R* trailers.

I don´t think so. The consoles couldn´t handle the shadows from trailer.

Why wouldn't it, can you really tell because you think that the shadows look too good for consoles?

They probabely upgraded their engine.

little seoul

again it's being aimed at consoles.

quite similar to crysis 2. if for example they put it in for pc, it would be "tacked on" dx11 and wouldn't really take full advantage of that platform.

i'd rule it out mates.

I'm banned because I'm an asshole.

This.

But the DX11 in Crysis 2 actually did something.

It does almost nothing in MP3

Brazilian Mermaid

tesselation really improves the graphics, it makes the edges look so smooth! btw I do think it is possible, but I'm going to stick with the idea that the graphics won't be as good as those from LA Noir because Los Santos is going to be huge.

I can say after playing MP3 on my machine, it makes even more excited to see what GTA V will look like on my PC. This is the first version of this RAGE engine on the PC and I, for one, am looking forward to what GTA V brings in the future. It played smooth and looked very good. The bullet entry and exit wounds bring the right amount of gore without going over the top. I wouldn't mind a little more gore but I can't wait to see what GTA V brings to the table in terms of graphics and effects.

True, or even better, surely it'll be highly optimized, for DX12 I say, since it may be released after Windows 8.

I f*cking hope so! It'd be amazing and I love DirectX 11. Please Rockstar don't make the same mistake with GTA V as with GTA IV. Give us a good PC edition like Max Payne 3. cool.gif
