Icarus
But none of these can beat St. John's Newfoundland which is hands down the f*cking craziest drunkest sh*t show you will ever witness. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY drinks as much as a Newfoundlander, and the mixture of the local music, cheap beer, late last call and ridiculously friendly environment will be sure to loosen up even the tightest wallflower. And for a city of only 200,000+ they have venues that cater to every crowd. If you're ever up that way, be sure to get screeched in. I was at a physics conference in St. John's last summer and a bunch of us got hammered on the last night of the conference down on George Street. I love the Newfies - they sure know how to party, and as you said, drink. Getting screeched in was pretty fun, too. I have the certificate on my desk at work. Jay
I've found NYC, Boston, and Chicago to be very quiet at nights. This. Relative to places like Las Vegas, Toronto, Prague and even Florence (surprisingly), I was in bed before dawn every night in NYC, Chicago and Boston. I still got completely McSlaughtered while I was there, mind. There's two places I've been passed-out drunk in the world, my hometown Adelaide and Vegas. Vegas Vegas Vegas. And I spent only 12 dollars on booze the entire time I was there. Melbourne goes off as well.

Rhoda
I'm just surprised everyone didn't leap on the bandwagon of nominating their own city. I don't know. It depends what you're looking for. If we're just talking about the usual balls-out "drink until you can't dance" night, I'd have to say the major cities of just about any country take the cake. I'm surprised to find out that New York City is quite quiet compared to some places, though I would have only assumed it was bustling because of the electricity guzzling neon signs that hang off Times Square. I've only ever been to NYC once and was only 18, so I didn't get to experience much in terms of night life. I've always had fun in Manchester, and a few nights have been a bit nuts, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's one of the best. It has a good mix of bars and clubs to cater for pretty much everyone (student areas, gay village, posh end, clubs for metal heads, posers, hipsters and ravers) so in that respect I suppose it's one of the most diverse if nothing else. I've been out in Blackpool a few times and again, that's pretty mad at times, and also quite varied depending on who you are and what you want to do. t0grul
Moscow never sleeps, expect in winter. Been in Moscow last year, i can say everything is open 24/7 there. Miami and Las Vegas has the best nightlife too. Especially Las Vegas.

Mister Pink
I like to party waaay too much. I spent €500 last weekend on drink and other stuff I always keep a keen eye out for the nightlife in destinations I'm heading. Lisbon, Portugal. It's one of the liveliest party-cities, I've ever visited. It's so festive. There's the drinking or bar quarter where it's narrow cobbled streets. Everyone is outside with giant cocktails. There is a smoking ban but you'll find ashtrays in all the bars. The good thing is the locals love to drink and party too. It's a real safe city and very friendly and small like Dublin where everything is no more that 20mins walk. Met some locals there on one or two nights out. They showed us some cool club. First track I heard when I walked in was Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa, drinking Laranja and Vodka, watching some dude break dance, sniffing funny stuff Drugs are decriminalized in Portugal so you wont get in trouble if caught with small amounts. Dublin, Ireland. It has one of the if not the most youngest population in Europe. We like to drink and party so there's always some session going on. I'm going to say my city minus one or two things. My city would be sh*t if you like big commercial clubs playing chart music. It's great if you like some sort of alternative music from Electronica to metal. Clubs close early by Euro standards (03:00am) However, like last weekend there are 'Early-Houses' that open at like 08:00am. So Usually I go out about 12:00am, party for 3 hours in a club/pub then talk sh*te to strangers on the street and then to a party for about 4 hours. Then we go to the early house where there's DJ's set up. You pay in and they close all the curtains so it's like night. Its mental. Everyone is out of their scone. THere's a kind of communal feeling cause you bump into the same friendly faces etc. Last weekend, there was a club that opened at 03:00am. These are 'private parties' or raves. They're springing up all over the place. so when the club closes at 3am someone will be selling wristbands, then you go to a new club and that will go on til 8am. For a tourist it might be a little harder to come across these parties unless you know people here. My city is also small so again, getting around is handy. Plubs and clubs are in walking distance. Barcelona, Spain/Catalunya This city is pretty lively but its full of street crime. You always have to watch yourself it the tourist areas. The night life can be a little spread out in places. I mean clubs and pubs can be spread out compared to say Lisbon. However, you'll meet fun people there, out for a good time. You get lots of cool alternative and curious places where the put effort in to it's charms and stuff. when I was there with the ex we met some people n the street outside a bar. They took us to a party in their apartment and gave us booze and al sorts. It's great. Recommended. Berlin, Germany. Berlin is known to have one of the best if not the best nightlifes in the world. I haven't been. Going in 2 weeks. Only in Berlin will you find clubs like this. The Kit Kat Club is said to attract patrons from all over Europe and other parts of the world because of its music selection (techno and trance music) and its sexually uninhibited parties. The motto of the club is "Do what you want but stay in communication". Guests are allowed to engage in sexual intercourse openly at the venue. A strict dress code needs to be respected in order to get into the KitKatClub door, most of the time being held by Kirsten herself, her door policy being very strict. The dress code allows fetish, latex, leather, kinky, high style, glamor. The venue consists of three dance floors and an outdoor area with a pool. It is decorated with ultra-violet light and fluorescent color paintings done by the Berlin based painter Der Träumer. chris
hereford, england. The place makes Las Vegas looks like a boring hick town. I'm talking crazy sh*t hahaha i worked there for a week last year and was staying in a premier inn, the first day i got there with me mate there was a beer and cider festival going on, i spent the evening drinking some quality ales, running off for a sneaky spliff and talking to the local girls who were very nice, i also threw up a few times behind the porta loo's! If you going into the Thomas Cook in the city centre then check out the fire doors, i made them swing! I've had a night out in Manchester which was good and another in Newcatle which was very good since geordies are ace people, otherwise most of my nights out have been in Liverpool, and i've had some nights to remember there. leik oh em jeez!
I'm just surprised everyone didn't leap on the bandwagon of nominating their own city. This. Every city has a nightlife, what it's like depends on who you're with, not where you're at. The only advantage to going somewhere other than where you live is that it doesn't feel like home. Robinski
I'm just surprised everyone didn't leap on the bandwagon of nominating their own city. I did this, but I genuinely think Newcastle is the best night out in the North, of all the places I've been at least. Now if I'd nominated my home town of Middlesbrough I'd be full of it. It's only got the best night life if you're after finding a fight easily, and navigating the annoying sea of underage kids who use elder siblings' or friend's IDs to go out (because I totally never did that, no sir ). Moonshield
EDIT Cincinnati, OHIO! I have to mention there as well. Great night life. Hah! I mean, I think we're coming up in the downtown area in terms of bars and music scenes, but where've you been to give you that impression? But yeah, from where I've been - NY (having gay friends that live here is kind of a must - they find the best f*cking parties), New Orleans (once you leave Bourbon street and get out into Frenchman and even further out into the Marginee, it's an incredible town of fun-loving people), and a strong mention for Portland and Seattle respectively. Whoever says Vegas can f*ck right off - that sinkhole of a desert rat village is nothing but vapid twats with neon lights and glitter, and holds no candle whatsoever to the other places mentioned in this thread. Vegas is f*cking gross, and that's the appeal of it. People go there to see 10 dolla hookahs and losers shuffling up the strip while they swing around a bottle of belvedere and get sneered at by the locals. People have fun their because they treat the city like a toilet, and their economy depends on it. Montreal (surprised it hasn't been mentioned) can be like that for Canadians (and New Englanders on Spring Break). Every asshole from Toronto has been there at least once to indulge in their full contact lap dances, their casinos, their late last calls and their coked out after parties. Rue St. Laurent on a saturday night is a sh*t show but that's part of the fun, the absence of class breeds a lack of inhibitions. The absolute worst place to party in my experience is Texas. I was in Austin for NYE once and I remember all the bars closed at 2am, I was dumbfounded.

GreatGig
If you're looking for fat girls wearing skimpy clothes with their bare flesh resembling a purple, mottled, leathery, wrinkled bag of sausages then come to the north east of the UK. They also wear high heels which kind of look like hooves, it's quite easy to confuse them for livestock. Man I had a wild night with this one girl called Bessy. She was a big girl and a bit innexperienced I think, because when I fondled her breasts she squirted milk all over me. She couldn't get comfortable either because she kept asking me to "Move", at least I think that's what she was saying, dunno couldn't understand her she had a weird accent. She smelled a bit as well so I think she was French. Haha I know what you mean, man. I used to live in Manchester. Opposite side but the women are pretty similar. I remember being hit on by some lass with a skin-head. Now, I don't mind short hair, but no hair is just pushing it. After all, what am I supposed to pull on later? Inappropriate flirtations aside, Manchester was a pretty decent place to have a good night out. The Apollo (I think) used to have some great gigs going on. I was hooked up to a decent supplier so I was high pretty much every weekend which made things even better. As others have said, I think it depends on various factors. GTA_stu
After all, what am I supposed to pull on later? Well depending on what position you're in, if the sex aint that great you could at least entertain yourself by pulling faces in the reflection on her shiny head. But in terms of actual nightlife, the only place I've been is my hometown. Hull's alright I guess, but being that I lived in Amsterdam for the first 7 years of my life I can't help but feel it's a bit of a downgrade. In my golden age I should be in a haven of weed, neon and sex! And what do I get? Chavs, wheelie bins and dog much all over the streets.

Robinski
It's also possible to a be a straight laced professional and a party animal. The two aren't mutually exclusive as long as you know where to draw the line, at both ends. It also helps if you can function on little sleep.
