New York City
I barely ever do the missions. When I do, I only do it to unlock an "island".
AlexGTAGamer
I always get the missions out of the way first, so then I have all the time in the world to mess around in L.C.
MostOfAll
It seems like it would fit more into Niko's character to get the missions done first before roaming freely around Liberty City.
Yawa77
Yesterday I finished the story for the third time... In the beginning I did a couple of missions and played MP all the time, because it was fun and exciting. After that, I got 100% quite easily, because the AI enemies are very easy compared to some human enemies online. In GTA SA I used to play free-roam only, with a lot of cheats, but that is in the past, I never used cheats in GTA IV. I think that would ruin the realism, which makes the game special. Karambalaya
I think I do 80% story, 20% free roam when I play.

Redketman
I always play the main missions first and eventually I might drive around and just having some "fun". But I did a lot more of this in a game like San Andreas.

Adrian J.
I always do missions, races, etc first to unlock stuff. Then exploring and having fun in the city is much better, like when I'm chased by cops I call Dwayne's buddies for backup or call Carmen to refill my health. Matt11
Free roam when I'm bored, but I usually play missions. I probibly beat the game 7 or 8 times and the episodes twice.
Kajjy
I do missions and free roam in between. I have beat the story 16 times cause I love it
BWpunisher
Usually I focus on missions. Free-roam gets boring eventually, if there is nothing to do but just drive and blow things up. I love the golf minigame though in BoGT. It's things like that, that make free-roam more interesting. Edited July 6, 2012 by BWpunisher
Dragonjack
If i failed a mission? then ill free roam... its better.
