Nebby
You can read the full article here. Seven people, including three children, died Sunday when a vehicle flipped over a guardrail and plunged up to 60 feet to the ground, landing upside down in an area of the Bronx Zoo that is closed to the public, officials said. All the victims were inside the vehicle, a New York police spokesman said. The crash occurred near the Bronx River Parkway and East 180th Street. "The vehicle hit the median and went across all lanes of traffic in the opposite direction," the spokesman said. He described the drop from the ramp as "substantial." The victims include an elderly couple; two other women, including a 45-year-old driver; and three girls, ages 15, 5 and 3, NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said. It was not immediately clear how they were related to one another. All the victims were wearing seat belts, Browne said. Their names were not released pending notification of family members. An eyewitness told authorities it wasn't apparent what caused the vehicle, a white Honda Pilot SUV, to strike the barrier and plunge off the road, according to a law enforcement official. My guess is that they were on a family trip of some sort when this occurred... pretty sad if you ask me.
Kalvin
What, the f*ck. How can something like this happen? Did the vehicle do like a stunt jump while hitting the "median"? Going upside down and hitting those people People should really watch where they're going. leik oh em jeez!
Flipping hell! Oh, you. People need to learn to drive. Or perhaps the driver assumed that with it being a Pilot, it could fly. It must have been stuffed in that Pilot. I didn't even know they had 3rd row seats. Edited April 29, 2012 by leik oh em jeez! Viperman
Sounds like it he must of had a medical emergency while driving. I mean, to cross the opposite lanes, probably over a few barriers too without having time to stop. Either on its wheels or sliding means he was traveling with speed. Which I doubt with 7 up. Doesn't that suggest he was in no control no? Heart attack? Never no I guess :-/ What a shame, that sensation of freefall, horrible last feeling! - [- No Fear. No Limits. Shocking death though. Even more shocking that it was a Honda Pilot.

Eagles
Sounds like a normal holiday for Brazilian roads. A reporter and a cameraman were following a police operation to catch some bandits and a truck went in the wrong hand and crashed their car and killed them. The son of a famous singer was coming back to home from a show last week and he flipped on the road. He's in the hospital right now in an induced coma in serious condition. Every carnival holiday a lot of families get involved into accidents with deaths or serious injuries, and it all happens because drivers today are all impatient and can't respect the rules of a road. They are always trying to do dangerous overtaking or exceeding the speed limit. I could say that at least 80% of these events could have been prevented. But yeah, that's very sad. HydraulicWaRiOr
Boo-hoo, sad story. 7 people had to die in a car crash by the zoo someday, it was meant to be. I'm not quite sure how this happened, but it's pretty unfortunate. I just wish they could have finished all of the stunt jumps. I'm still looking for those damn pidgeons. Yeah they do, and let me tell you from experince, they are cramped as hell, then again they're most likely intended for little kids and I'm near on 6 feet tall. I wonder how fast they had to be going to get over the Guard rail and then flip it over, in the middle of NYC traffic and what not, god people need to learn how to drive. Yes, I agree with you CW. As a person who drives daily in America, sharing the road with sh*tty drivers, this is true. As for the story at hand, I was watching the report on the news earlier. Thinking about the kids, its very sad. However, death by accidents are pretty common in the USA.

ska
Honestly sounds like something straight out of a film. Considering the freeway was probably suspended in the air, you would think there would be more safety measures in place rather than a single guard rail. Shame. I hope the authorities find out what happened.
