Character type?

Throught out this franchise the protagonist have had two types of statuses, Freelancers like Niko and Claude then there are the protagonist that are members of and organized crime family like CJ, Toni capriani and johnny klebitz

 

I personally hope the protagonist in GTA V is a freelacer the type of guy that is not loyal to any one group but will work for any group as long as the pay is good, he may favor a group more then another but he has the choice to stabb them in the back if he wants, hes not tied down, IMO it creates better gameplay experiences with things like moral choices like we had in GTA IV like should i kill him or should i let him live. The different paths creates a unique experience for every player plus if you make the right choices your actions can be rewarding and satisfying or they can bite you in the ass

 

With member of organized crime families as a player I feel under powered, if your family goes down you do to, its also quite annoying having to answer to higher ranked members that are dicks to you, Ex. CJ and the grove street family, members end up betraying your family and sweet ends up in jail, leaving CJ tasked with keeping the family name alive while hunting down members that betrayed you all while working to get his bother out of jail, eventually you get his ass out of jail and sweet is still an un-greatfull asshole its moments like these that make me mad... the protagonist bust his ass for members of his crime family only to get sh*t for it, then again he was never really appreciated to begin with

Neither of those. He will have friends in the crime business, but he will not be involved majorly with crime lords, and won't be bossed around most of the time, but if a situation presents itself (let's say.. the boss will pay you $500,000 for doing a major drug deal/assassination etc etc) then you'll have a choice. I want him to be more like a Tommy or Vic Vance, and build up an empire that you can defend/expand/manage.

I think Ned Luke will be a freelance criminal who interacts with both cartels and gangs, due to the fact that those are the only two major crime-causing groups in LA.

 

The only other thing I can see him doing in addition to what I listed above is hits for a celebrity or something like that.

I think I read somewhere that developers of gta V wanted to make the player feel the eqonomic situation in Calefornia, by having you start being rich, then shortly after poor after some bad stuff happens too you, or somethng like that?

 

Can anyone clarify this, or put up a link?

I hated defending the properties back in VCS I found it annoy and repetitive it was no better in SA either defending your turf from ballers and the other gangs I never really found that fun, being on the other side of the city only to have you turf under attack and having to drive all the way back to defend it

I’d like to see him start off freelancing, then he decides to take the money, and contacts he made, and starts up his own empire, kind of like Tommy in VC, or Vance in VCS.
