OysterBarron
Ok im not normally one for posting topics with just a link to a news item but this really shocked me http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-...-142725712.html cant the us media see how silly this story makes them look? Not to mention the announcer that first started this debate. The guy has obviously never been a parent! and like the worst couple in the world said even when offering the ball to the child later, he allready had his own one witch says to me he used to throwing strops to get what he wants like any other 3 year old kid. What do you think? And maybe use this for posting other retarded news storys that you think dont deserve the time of day.
lil weasel
People here through around the word 'retarded' like it means something. This is simply a case of Eye Witness being wrong, again. Jumping to the conclusion of a subject is the game. Nobody has the time to wait for the facts. "I SAW IT" It must be true "I SAW IT, with my own eyes". Of course someone telling you what you saw is the reason the Cops seperate people before an interview.

OysterBarron
Nah its not just the states. I remember the other morning on sky news there was a segment about princess kates dress she wore to a charity talk, and the lady in the segment was debating about the fact her mum had worn a dress exactly the same before, the male news reader looked like he wanted to shoot himself just over the fact people consider this news. The dress's allthough appear the same you could tell one was a few sizes bigger and they were saying oo could be hand me downs. i mean really what the f*ck does it matter if it was! Slamman
Witch Which is Which? Wasn't there a third one? Speaking on this, any number of links, TV channels or media holdings can certainly come under fire. Recent news I've been watching debates what actions or policies make the USA look bad, and just last night it was opined that keeping troops overseas longer looks bad to one Fox, CNN, CNBC, or the regular media outlets also come under fire, as you heard with Rupert Murdoch in his legal troubles
OysterBarron
It is the news agency's that need to take a step back and actually look at what they are reporting on. Yeah wars and troops abroard i agree is good to hear about. but why they decide to fill a ten minute time slot with discussion over a dress or vilifying random couples for an incident that happens every day of the week where young children are involved is beyond me. There are so many other helpful organizations out there that could use the 10 minutes airtime so more efficiently and effectively. Now if kate had turned up naked with no dress to the charity talk then yes i would have considered that news, but just filling a gap with random sh*t story's just makes you organization look incompitnent to report on the things that actually matter! Slamman
More so currently, TV news and other media outlets marry and mingle with the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, it all becomes something of a sordid hodgepodge, so I am a little disturbed by the trend in general, there's a good side to that as well though I saw the story about the ball in the stands with the child, They had a more calm child being shown, he got over it, not to worry! OysterBarron
Yeah sitting at the news-desk monitoring twitter and all the other social media can provide good story's but it doesn't constitute for actually getting out in the field and finding story's. trip
Kate and mum 20 bucks says they intentionally used the erect nipple shot for Kate's mum. As for the retarded american media. If you think it is retarded with the stuff that makes it past the borders, you should see the retarded stuff and over the top sales of news stories that stay within the borders. Too bad real journalism left the media years ago. I don't blame the reporters or the agencies - I blame the american people for eating it up thus making it become something of a commodity. Everything has to be some damn sensational these days to attract the attention of the already over stimulated readers/viewers/listeners. lil weasel
One problem with the News is that they have too much time to fill. When the news was unsponsored they only had 15 minutes to tell 'us' what was important. Now it's a Entertainment. I hate it when the news 'Anchors' start to quip and joke about the reports. Or worse make small talk among themselves. I don't want a friend gossiping on my viewing time. And those horrible 'coming up next' announcements where the bit you're waiting for is a 30 second bit before as the last item.
Stinky12
News has gone out the windows a long time ago. Right now is nothing but a bunch of blogs and other nonsense bullsh*ts. Finding out what celebrities are doing is more important than a asteroid about to collide with Earth.
GTA_stu
They're just catering to their audience. It's obvious which news sites, newspapers, TV channels are of the low brow kind and go for the BS, so just avoid them. It's not like it's hard to avoid the crap, or to find decent "proper" news. If it annoys you then just don't pay it attention. And man Kate's mum is a total milf/gilf.
B Rob
Social networking has really messed up the news scene. I don't really care for FOX, or MSNBC but occasionally I'll watch CNN. Celebrity gossip is 75% of the news nowadays anyway, either that or they pick some case like Casey Anthony or Trayvon Martin and try to get every cent out of it they can. I remember when Lindsay Lohan went to jail and they had her on the news once every hour. Like who gives a sh*t about Lindsay Lohan..... Jeeebuuus
I agree with most of whats been said here already. Its not really news anymore, more like infotainment. na89340qv0n34b09q340
There's a lyric in a song I like to quote when I get the chance. CNN, ESPN, NBC, PBS, BET, ABC, but mostly BS I like it more because it's fun to say, and it wasn't exactly about media in context, but it applies here. If you'd like to pick what news you want to read use news websites, or newspaper. Television networks aren't interactive so they have to cover things for everyone to keep their viewers. As much as it bothers you, there are idiots (everywhere) who actually care about things like that. Besides, if you want good, fair news you probably shouldn't be watching reports that are filtered through one of those news syndicates, they broke the news years ago. MrcTOtheJ
I agree whole heartedly with lil weasel's and Trip's points about why News has gone though the tubes. It's mainly because of the over stimulated viewers wanting nothing but trivial crap about what celebrity is doing what with whom at any given time. The other part of it, is they have way to much damn time to fill as lil weasel said, where half of it is just the news casters making puns and small talk, about some trivial water skiing raccoon or something to that degree. And ska hit the nail on the head about Fox news.

AtomicPunk
Most of American media is propoganda for attacking muslim countries. And reporters, when in the country parts, try and find the biggest idiots that they can find. It's actually an inside joke. A friend of mine who works for a major news company told me that they go on what they call a 'hick hunt'. New York types despise country folk and will smear them any chance they get. American people have caught on, and Fox, CNN have lost half of their viewers because most people now get their news from the internet because they don't even try and hide their propoganda anymore. News like MSNBC is the lowest rated, by embarrassing numbers. Internet is killing the propoganda machine. Hell, Senators like Jay Rockefellar want to end news on the internet. I bet his type does because people are exposing this vermin. Jay Rockefellar-"The internet shouldn't even exist"

The Guardian, The Telegraph, the BBC and Channel 4 are my usual news sources, but they're pretty Britain-centric I guess. There's always English al-Jazeera too if you want a different perspective. Reuters and AP and AFP are agencies, meaning they collect and sitribute stories to news organisations as their primary goal. the quality of their writing and end-product reporting is nowhere near as important as it is to a dedicated reporting organisation. John The Grudge
I think we're lucky in the UK to have the BBC. It's completely unbiased and anything but real news isn't really tolerated. Radio 5 Live (a BBC station) is an excellent source of news. It's the important news as it is with no spin on it. Of course much of that is off-set by perhaps the worst tabloid newspapers in the world. Maybe the worst I've seen is Fox News though. It's American but we actually get it over here on Sky. It's quite disturbing how hateful and biased that is. I understand in America they have PBS. Is that like the BBC over here?
