Weapon Selection

I've noticed that in the Max Payne 3 videos that Rockstar has released, it seems the same weapon selection system that was in Red Dead Redemption (LB/L1+Right Analog) will be used.

Considering that these are the two latest Rockstar games with selectable weapons, do you think GTA V will use the same weapon selection system?

If it is, I'd be in favour of it, as you don't have to cycle through the weapons until you find the one you want - you can just press LB/L1 and move the stick towards the weapon you want on screen, as well as being able to carry more than one type of weapon.

icon14.gif I prefer it like that rather than the way GTA IV was. that way you could carry all the weapons instead of having to choose between two types of pistols, shotguns, etc.

GTA IV was the same way just with a much less convenient way to access each category. You could only carry 1 melee/pistol/shotgun/smg/assault rifle/explosive/thrown

But as far as the topic goes, I would prefer a more realistic system where you could carry like a melee + 2 small guns (pistol/smg/grenade) with you in regular clothes and be forced to openly carry a large gun (shotgun/rocket launcher/assault rifle) causing one star if a cop sees you walking around with it. To add an element of strategy you'd be able to stash guns wherever you want in the map, so for example, if you're in an on foot shootout with cops, you'd be able to try to make a dash for the dumpster a couple blocks away where you have an AK stashed, making police chases more exciting. Also in this proposed system you'd be able to buy baggier clothing (like trench coats) allowing you to eventually conceal 1 large and 1 small gun on you, eventually leading you to being able to purchase a suit after beating the last mission(or cheating) allowing you to conceal as many guns as you want, as having them all available is clearly funnest for just messing around.

No, just no. It'll add too many factors into shootouts, like luck and proximity to stashes. And doesn't everybody hate the 2-weapon system games these days use? They'll probably stick to the usual tier system, with you being able to carry one weapon from each tier.

As for weapon selection, I hope they stick to the classic GTA mousewheel system for the PC. The weapon wheel is brilliant to use with a controller, but it's useless with a mouse.

I personally prefer how GTA has handled it in the past, one weapon per "Class" and just scroll though to find it, even to a controller I'd prefer it to the wheel.

Though I liked the wheel in RDR just fine so I can care less ethier way.

Sunrise Driver

Some people are forgetting that the game is called GTA V, not RDR 3.

GTA system is perfect, no need in changing.

One thin that R* has consistently done since GTA IV is that they have made all the weapons in the protagonists possession visible. Like in RDR you can see Marston's handgun on his hip and his rifle on his back and the type of handgun/rifle changes accordingly to which one you have selected.

From what I have seen in Max Payne 3 videos it looks very much the same.

I personally cant see R* taking a step back from that in GTA V.

handguns will probably be tucked in the back of trousers with the grip showing

however I figuring out how the protagonist will carry a big weapon like an assault rifle or a rocket launcher in broad daylight.

For what I've seen on the gameplay videos, Max Payne 3 will have the wheel system for selecting the weapons. So probabily we will se that on GTA V

I don't care how weapon selection is gonna be in gta v, as long as weapon are catogorized in "classes" (melee, handgun, rifle, explosives, heavy weapons) then im good.

I think it would be cool if you could put the big guns in the trunk of your car or something like that. Then again, it wouldn't come in that handy if cops blow your car up. bored.gif
