3. Getting too old for video games

I don't enjoy video games as much in general and left my console at home for the past year for visitors of my house to f*ck with. HOWEVER, I think I'll be playing GTA or something similar to it for life.

Every GTA adds its own bit to the series. Yeah the concept has remained the same for 15 years. but that's like any successful franchise. Did Sonic change itself drastically halfway through its existence?

It's one thing in theory to say it should be completely different, but it's another to put it into practice and say what should be done. For instance OP can you give us examples of what R* could do that they've never done before?

I'm not being a smart ass, but I've always believed you should back claims up. There's no point saying something like this without suggesting supporting ideas to go a long with it.

Examples: Undercover cop,

And you say change, well change is good, change is healthy, change, well that was what my great president said also. Why not change it up, i don't want to play another protag thug/mafia, etc guy, i am tired of that, Give me something bold and new.

Bold new direction: Undercover cop or Ex undercover agent.

The guy just joined the other day and want him to back up claims and all, btw welcome to the forums buddy enjoy.

apparently the OP has a time machine of some short and just finished playing GTA V from one of his trips to the future and is here to tell us how it is the same as every other gta, he obviously know what he's saying, keep it up man

WELLLLLLLL, he's figuring the same game premise just gets old, well, we can't inspire your interest in GTA, and neither can Rockstar North.... Fact is, the game evolves, but the main premise and design remains the same. RDR was a fantastic way to take a GTA like game and parlay another franchise out of it, so what you would actually want is more games like that, or?!

What exactly?

True, Open World has yet to evolve, and perhaps there's a severe lack there at this point in time, but GTA should remain what it is at it's core

3. Getting too old for video games

What is this I don't even

Also, I think we're all suffering from the info drought. Most of the forum's hope in R* has been lost, and will proceed to be restored after new info.

The first generation of video gamers that grew up in the '80s with the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 are now in their mid 40s. And a great many of them still play video games including GTA, L.A.Noire, Sims and loads more.

HOW THE FLYING f*ck DO YOU KNOW?

If you haven't noticed there's been NO information since the trailer, from which you can't really deduce any gameplay information. So please shut up.

I agree IV was no masterpiece, and I think that bothers R*. They wont make that mistake again. The expectations of a renewed SA is high, and they know that. Making the game less fun then GTA SA will make people question the company's GTA-future.

Yeah, I'm sure Rockstar is "bothered" with GTA IV being the highest-rated game of the last decade. And what kind of statement is "making the game less fun then [sic] GTA SA"? You seem to imply that "fun" is something entirely objective; as though it is fact whether or not one game is more fun than another. Of course, "fun" is most certainly subjective. I find GTA IV to be far more fun than San Andreas because of the Euphoria engine, the meticulously detailed city and the deep driving physics, whereas you probably find San Andreas to be more fun than IV for equally valid reasons of your own. No matter how GTA V turns out, some will find it more fun than San Andreas, while others will believe it is the worst GTA game in the history of the world!

I wouldn't even bother buddy. You'd get more sense from a brick wall than trying to tell some here fun is completely subjective.

it seems to me that gtav is going to just a another gta game with the same stuff in it and maybe a new mini game. don't get me wrong i love gta but it just feels like gta games are all the same and nothing new to them, so how dose gta get all this hype ever time a new gta comes out. we hype the hell out of it and then when we play it there really nothing new about ok new characters but not much other then that. sly.gif

Well, considering GTA is the single greatest video game franchise of all time, even if they changed NOTHING, it would still be worth every penny. That aside, every GTA has been better than the previous version, proving that Rockstar is not content with simply rehashing the same exact thing over and over, unlike MANY other titles. For example, EA has a penchant for slapping on a fresh coat of paint, to what are basically last years game, with little to no changes. Call of Duty is a pretty good game, but lets be honest, it's the same game over and over, except slight changes in location. Rockstar has successfully been able to give every GTA it's own unique feel. Every GTA is memorable and different, while maintaining it's revolutionary and groundbreaking open world gameplay. It has been copied often, but NEVER duplicated.

Another thing that preserves the uniqueness of GTA is R* never limited themselves to a specific theme. Mafia and Just Cause for example could never survive as long lasting franchises with as many games because they're too specific in their themes. GTA really can cover any aspect from the criminal underworld from the last 100 years in any country with a strong criminal history.

That's what I think sets GTA apart. No one has really came up with an alternative that's as vast as the GTA series. A large majority of sandbox games are theme spefic and don't offer the same contrast like going from 1980s Miami to 1990s LA.

It's been a shockingly long wait for new GTA V info since the trailer last November. R* sure do like to cock tease their fans. But really the reason is because of Max Payne. Once it's released in May, expect a ton of GTA V sh*t to come in.

I hope we get a reference to Niko Bellic and what happened to him, maybe on the news radio they could say something like "Meanwhile Liberty City drug lord Niko Bellic has been........" so we have an idea what he got up to.

I think in V there will be a lot of new things... Why the hell should Rockstar otherwise say "A bold new direction..."? smile.gif
