How to change the weapons used by gangs in Vice?

I downloaded the gta 3 gangs for vice city, and i want to change their weapons like in gta 3. I saw a video where it was done, but i don't really know how to. confused.gif

Can you help me guys?

It's easy. Just download Sanny Builder program and open "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\data\main.scm" (don't forget to select Vice City in the lower right corner of Sanny Builder). The text will show up - find this line:

 

0237: set_gang 0 primary_weapon_to 17 secondary_weapon_to 0

 

You'll see more of these similar lines for all gangs below that line. All weapons and gangs have their numbers. Use Sanny Builder help (contents, SCM documentation, GTA VC, weapon numbers and gang numbers) to change them as you like. After you finish click run-compile. That's it.

I had tried this and I made the changes as you instructed, but when I start up the game, the changes are not there.

 

Is there something else I need to do?

Did you find these lines:

 

0237: set_gang 0 primary_weapon_to 17 secondary_weapon_to 0 0237: set_gang 1 primary_weapon_to 17 secondary_weapon_to 0 0237: set_gang 2 primary_weapon_to 17 secondary_weapon_to 0 0237: set_gang 3 primary_weapon_to 17 secondary_weapon_to 17 0237: set_gang 4 primary_weapon_to 17 secondary_weapon_to 17 0237: set_gang 5 primary_weapon_to 17 secondary_weapon_to 0 0237: set_gang 6 primary_weapon_to 17 secondary_weapon_to 17

 

If you did then just change the number 17 (which is colt45 weapon) to a weapon you want. For example we want to change the Cuban (gang 0) pistols(17) to m4(26). Change number 17 to 26. And did you click run - compile after you finished? Also my answer is for Vice City only.

Yes I did.

 

I just checked the file again this minute and the changes I have made are still there. The only problem is when I load up the game, all the gangs are still carrying handguns.

There is a text file also in the data folder!!!

 

Do I have to change that also?

& there is a option of changing that thing.

I started a new game and it seems to have worked so far. I just wondered how I could change the weapons of the ....

 

1) SWAT team

2) National guard

3) Vice cops

 

They arent listed under the gangs category, I have had a look around that whole file but cant find them anywhere.

They are hardcoded - not located in main.scm file but in gta vc.exe. Only professional coders could change their weapons via coding. But if you want to change their textures and models then download a few weapon mods. Same for a weapon sounds - download a mod.

I will continue on with what I have done so far.

 

Im not sure what the coding means by the term "secondary weapon" when each character was only given one weapon to begin with. I have given each gang both a primary and a secondary weapon to make things more interesting.

 

I wanted to keep things within the borders of reality and not have street gangs walking around with high powered assault weapons.

 

I have realistic weapon mods for every single firearm in the game. The Ruger now looks awesome and the "M4" is now an M16-A1.

 

All the sound effects are now different too.

I have changed the firearms in almost every mission in the game so far. Some of the weapon choices in the game by the coders just never made any sense to me.

 

I want to change the firearms for the SWAT guys and the national guard. Surely it cant be that much more difficult than altering the main.scm file?

Each gangmember has one weapon. Some have the primary weapon and others have the secondary weapon, it's random.

As JACK JONES already told you it's stored in vc.exe . You need to locate the memory adress that contains the weapons of the police and change it.

If you set

secondary_weapon_to 0

to a weapon number, the gang members will be carry either or? Or will this mean each gang member will have 2 weapons

Hey jack sorry for bump, but I did changed the gang weapons to (26) but they are just using their pistols, and I started a new game and nada.
please help, I might think that it's something with main.text and main[0].txt

i am rokie with this things, i have done what you said copy paste your code to sanny then opened and saved (wrong maybe?) started new game and nothing changed
