LC 44
You know that big ass mountain you saw in the gtav trailer. If I don't get to climb it, drive up it, and land an airplane on it I will be pissed. I love R* games, but they put so much in there games that is just there to tease us. It goes all they back to gtaIII. In GTA III you can go to the airport but you can't fly any of the jets or helicopters. In San Andreas there is submarine, but you can't use it. In red dead redemption there is lakes and rivers with water falls, but you can't have any fun with those. Not to mention the old cars that you can't drive. (I know its a western, but c'mon R*!) I love R*, but damn where's the beef?

About the car in RDR, I agree, I was kind of disappointed when I couldn't get into that one car in Blackwater... I can understand R* not wanting to include it, since they already have a whole franchise based around cars (Grand Theft something... can't remember). What I was really disappointed about in RDR though was the fact that I didn't get to fly that glider you see in one of the Strangers missions. I was really looking forward to jumping off some of the many cliffs on that map and getting a new perspective of it.
stee_vo
First of all. The reason you couldn't fly in GTA III was because of 9/11... That's why only the Dodo existed.. It was basically unflyable. And the submarine... Really? I wouldn't even WANT to drive that thing.

Eagles
Since they showed a guy with two girls climbing the mountain, I don't see why they wouldn't let us climb that mountain. Plus, I think we will be able to fly the airplanes and to, of course, swim. This GTA will include a lot of new features for sure, and they will add what we couldn't do in other R* games in one game. HOAXi
R* wouldn't advertise a mountain, unless you wouldn't be able to explore it. Nobody would. That's like killing your company. If you can climb it, I don't know, but I believe so. Drive up, yes! Ofcourse. Land an airplane? Dont even know yet if we can fly airplanes in V, but I think so, and I guess it up to your skills and the trees if you can land up there. Otherwise, dont expect too much... you will be happy if its there but so much more disappointed if its not.

It got my hopes up. There will always be stuff that's unusable in GTA, at least for now. Some more annoying than others. You can't use the gas stations or ring the doorbells for example. But if there is a vehicle somewhere, I want to be able to use it. It's pretty much a given that we will be able to reach the top of the mountain (planes and all) but I don't think we will be able to scale it (Cliffhanger style). Skyrim had TONS of mountains you could only reach the top of by following a path with steps.

They did leave a lot of fun things out of RDR and will probably do the same thing in V. We'll just have to wait and see. I too was disappointed that the hang glider wasn't flyable and when I found out that the old car couldn't be driven, it was a let down. Hell, they could've atleast let us swim in the waters. Don't know who makes those decisions at R* but they need kicked out the door.

The map will probably end like in San Andreas and Liberty City, with the sea. We were able to climb Mt. Chiliad in SA, so that mountain is probably climbable. SmC12
I think this sums it up: If we could climb a huge-ass f*cking mountain in GTA San Andreas, why the hell wouldn't they let us climb what appears to be a smaller mountain in GTA V? Of course you can climb it. Red Dead Redemption had unclimbable mountains because the whole theme of the game was the wild west - where there is absolutely nothing for miles and miles. It was there to show the scale and to create immersion. In GTA V something like that wouldn't be included if it couldn't be interacted with, they've never given us landscape restriction in any previous GTA so why would they do it now. Deffpony
I highly doubt that we won't be able to interact with that mountain. I too will be pissed if not. SmC12
It may be bigger, in height, but in steepness it's definately not. My point is that if they had something like that back in '04, they wouldn't just decide "oh, we have much better technology now, so lets put a pretty mountain in the background for people to take pictures of". The new height limit that was included in TBOGT shows us that R* really don't have any limitations with height or with land. We can climb that thing. The__Phoenix
First of all. The reason you couldn't fly in GTA III was because of 9/11... That's why only the Dodo existed.. It was basically unflyable. And the submarine... Really? I wouldn't even WANT to drive that thing. This is not true. recent Q & A (january) How come the Dodo plane in GTA 3 can’t fly? Because we were making a driving and shooting game – even that, as a combination of core gameplay elements, was very, very radical at the time. The Dodo was never meant to be flown very much at all, and it certainly wasn’t grounded as a result of 9/11 – it was just a fun thing that people then went crazy with when they figured out various bugs that let them fly it! How different would be #GTAIII if 9/11 wouldn’t have happened? About 1% different. We removed only one mission that referenced terrorists and changed a few other cosmetic details – car details, a couple of ped comments, lines of radio dialogue etc – the game came out a very short time later. The biggest change was the US packaging which remixed the previous packaging into what became our signature style – because the previous packaging [which was released as the cover of the game in Europe] was, we felt, too raw after 9/11. All of the more extreme rumours are amusing but impossible to have been achieved in such a short period of time.
hockeysauce
I think the biggest 9/11-influenced change was the design of the police cars in III. IIRC, they were originally designed to look more like NYPD cars (blue/white) but after 9/11 were changed to a more generic black/white. Concerning the Dodo, I think the major reason for lack of flying in III (other than the fact that it was the first 3D version of the game) is that it's rather pointless to be able to fly around a city as small as III's Liberty City.
