General Major League Baseball Discussion

dude what did I just say?

how many times has this happened now?

there's something about pitchers in baseball.

I'm losing track of how often this happens. compared to any other position in any other sport. what the f/ck is with the bad luck of MLB pitchers?

this doesn't happen to NFL punters. or NHL goalies. or NBA power forwards. lol.

but baseball pitchers apparently need to stay away from motor vehicles. especially back in their home country. maybe we should stop letting them go home during the offseason...

The roads in the Dominican Republic are very different than what we see in the states (obviously) which sucks because we've now lost two pitchers in a short span, and of course there was that Oscar Taveras incident not too long ago as well.

I really liked Ventura, he was a tough competitor who always gave the game that attitude that makes the games he pitch worth watching; saw Archer speaking about him on MLB Network and I'm glad to see there's pitchers in the Majors who share the same thought, despite how other opposing teams look at him on the field.

RIP, my condolences to his family and his team.

WBC starts in a couple weeks. Im just excited for some baseball to watch on TV.

I have a buddy playing for Australia this year. He played in the last one too. He is from California but he holds dual citizenship. If anyone wants to follow how he does his name is Mike Walker. He will most likely get to play 3 games then go home cause Australia never makes it past pool play.

Also plays for the Melbourne Aces.

So I'm a bit late on this the US won the WBC I really kinda lost interest in it this year and enjoyed the one in 2013 a bit more but that's just me. March is really a horrible time for it you have spring training going on so a couple players wont participate in it, it's competing with March Madness so not a lot of people are into it.

They should have done it in November it's after the World series and people want to see more baseball though apparently the ratings for this years WBC were higher so idk.

I watched, but was not particularly excited. I think they should just host it in other countries like DR or PR or Mexico. They all seemed excited for it, while America was a bit apathetic. There was ratings and attendance, but on the street, I found myself explaining what the WBC is, more often than actually discussing what was going on with it.

Don't know how many of you guys saw this. But this is awesome.

I grew up playing little league with this guy and his little brother Max. They were way better than anyone they played it wasn't even fair. Awesome people too. Gives me a reason to root on the phils a bit this year.

Max is a little bit more well known for this however right after getting his first Major League Hit.

Anyone think the Cardinals pulling out a few of their WS trophies and putting the "11 time world champions" banner in the field before the game tonight was a slight jab at the Cubs? They are all hyped up about winning their first title since 1908 and it's almost as if the Cards are saying "that's cool, But we've won it 11 times since you last won it"

look I dunno where you're from, but every city with a winning tradition does this on Opening Day.

New York, Boston, San Francisco, Dodgers, Athletics, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh.

St Louis does that every year. because we have a rich history to celebrate.

they didn't do that because the Cubs won last year. Chicago is not special ;)

Lol look at my profile and you'll see that we don't have a winning tradition where I'm from. We got one WS lol

Thoughts? Personally I think a statue is a little much. The guy had a BAC of like .14 and had coke in his system when he crashed the boat.

Just wanted to report that the Atlanta Braves' new stadium, SunTrust Park, opened up to regular season games yesterday with the Braves defeating the Padres 5-2.

Though some of the reasons for the new ballpark are understandable, I'm still completely shocked that they're not in Turner Field anymore.

Completely different Rockies team this year, than last year.

Second best record through this part (1/4) of the season? Never happens lol

GTA3Rockstar

yeah but nothing matters until after the all-star break.

we've got tickets to see Rockies play the Cardinals tomorrow afternoon.

need this f/cking rain to move out...

I'll take it, on pace for 100 win season.

I loved when I saw this:

Two different names, same meaning.

Yea, I know it's like cologne but still!

darthYENIK

And he gets #600, a grand slam, off of a fairly disliked former Angel.

Broke the record for most grand slams in a day for the MLB.

at this very moment? the all star break hasn't even occurred...

doesn't matter though. the point remains.

Pujols was supposed to make LA relevant.

LA made Pujols irrelevant.

funny how that works.

darthYENIK

Considering his career would be over if he stayed in St Louis, wouldn't have gotten 600 homers, wouldn't have a shot at 3000 hits, I'm sure he wouldn't have competed for another World Series in St Louis, either.

Funny how THAT works. But you'd be happy, so f*ck him either way, right?

GTA3Rockstar

Probably why nobody really gave a sh*t he hit 600.

Eh, compare the years, one playoff appearance for the Angels with Pooholes (swept 3-0) and four appearances for the Cardinals, without (LDS loss, 2 NLCS losses, WS loss).

Maybe they would've won the WS or made it to two more, tough to say what would or wouldn't have happened.

But, who can blame him for leaving when someone offered him $250mil to play? lol
