It would've been one of the most gutsy plays ever but i have to side with ILAK that he would've been out before his foot could even slide into the homeplate due to the cannon on crawford. If it would've been me, with two outs i would've just went for broke even if my ass got tagged out to try to tie it because of situations like short hits and pop flys ending the game easily.

Yeah this is exactly what I'm trying to say... yes it seems he would have been out if he kept going but the real issue is what GTA3Rockstar is saying, MLB Network literally talked about this a few weeks ago that when you run.. never look at the ball if your back is towards the play, rely on your base-coach or you'll end up slowing down a bit.

 

Either way, I couldn't have asked for a better way to end a game 7, I wasn't pleased with the winner of the series but it was definitely intense right down to the final play.

speaking of Joe Maddon; St Louis fans actually split over this issue. at least half the fanbase here hates Mike Matheny (as a manager).

they feel he's too similar to Tony Larusa. but I don't feel like Joe Maddon is any better.

 

I doubt he will win a World Series in Chicago.

Manager of the year...I mean not to sound bias or anything but Isnt the Manager of the year the guy who won the World Series? I mean seriously.

 

Could anyone really argue that there was a better manager than Bochy throughout the whole year? This is the one award that should be an all year award, not just Regular Season.

The Orioles had been in the postseason under Buck Showalter. The O's did have to deal with a number of injuries, including Manny Machado and Chris Davis, and I doubt many people expected them to play as well as they had with all of those injuries. I, however, think the manager of the year in the American League should have gone to Ned Yost. Who expected the Royals to make the World Series, let alone even be in the postseason? They did not have a Manny Machado or Chris Davis or Nelson Cruz, and their payroll was about $15 million less than Baltimore's (not much, but still...). Based on that, I would have voted Yost.

 

Most of the awards ILAK had predicted have been announced and he has been pretty spot on. Had I seen his post earlier, I would have agreed with each one, except AL Manager of the Year.

Yeah, pretty much. I think AL Cy Young and maybe NL Manager of the Year were the only ones that really surprised me. Otherwise, everything was pretty predictable.

 

Oh, and then there's this. Apparently Giancarlo Stanton could potentially sign a $300 million contract.

Stupid move if you ask me. Yes, he's a good, young, 24-year-old player, but he's not $300 million worth. Mike Trout is younger, a better player, has been an MVP candidate every full season he has been in the Big Leagues and is probably the only five tool player in baseball. Stanton isn't worth more money than Trout.
