All Pro Gamer
<h1>Unique Stunt Jumps</h1> <p>Throughout Vice City you'll come across 36 Unique Stunt Jump locations. These are opportunities for high-speed stunts for which you can earn attractive cash bonuses. Aside from the odd few bucks you'll earn every time you pull off what the game considers an "insane stunt", Unique Stunt Jumps will award additional cash in increasing quantities ($100) for every consecutive Unique Stunt Jump you pull off. That is, the first Unique Stunt Jump you complete will earn you $100, the second $200, the third $300 and so on until the 36th (and last) will earn you an additional $3600. </p> <p>Thanks to Demarest's Vice City Code Tool "Uniquecall", the images following show not only the locations of the Unique Stunt Jumps scattered around the city, but also the exact area through which you must pass for the Unique Stunt Jump to activate and for you to complete the jump successfully. Stunts are ordered as per most commercially produced game guides to minimise confusion. </p> <div align="center"> <table> <tr> <td align="center"><a Svip
GTAIII Screenshots and Videos Post all screenshots here and movies here. Screenshot method: Download and install a frame-capturing program such as: Fraps ClipCache Hypersnap NB: Some (or all) of the above programs may no longer be freeware. Earlier versions, however, can be obtained on the Internet - the most popular of these being Fraps 1.9D. Configure the hotkeys in your frame-capturing program associated with 'capture shot' or 'record', etc., and determine where captured frames will be located (e.g. C:\Fraps\) Fire up GTAIII Prepare your shot Hit the necessary hot-key Repeat until you're satisfied with the shots taken Exit GTAIII Go to Imageshack Hit 'browse', and select the screenshot(s) desired (from the directory where the captured frames are found) Hit 'host it!' Once the page loads, grab the "Direct link to image" URL Reply to this topic, and paste the direct link to image URL between IMG tags like so: [img=Direct link to image goes here] Video method: In the name of efficiency, follow this link. Chunky Lee Chong
Downloads Database Saved Games Download & Installation Instructions: • The file you download is a ZIP. If you are using Windows XP, you should have no problems opening it. If not, you can grab WinZIP or WinRAR to 'unzip' the folder for you. • Once unzipped, the folder will open to reveal another folder. This second folder holds 4 files. The saved game (.b), the readme (.txt), the stats (.txt), and the stats webpage (.html). Read the readme, so you have a full understanding of exactly what you downloaded. • Copy the saved game (.b file), and paste it into your saved game directory. This should be 'My Documents\GTA3 User Files\'. If you already have a file with that name - you will be notified by a warning if you do - you can do one of two things. You can delete the old file if you don't want your old saved game any more, or you can rename the downloaded file. Simply change the 'X' in the file name 'GTA3sfX.b' to a different numeral between 1 and 8. This corresponds to each game slot. • Once you've placed the downloaded file correctly into your saved game folder, you're ready. Fire up GTAIII, and choose the game from the 'load game' menu. If, for example, the game you downloaded was 'GTA3sf7.b', it would be in the 7th slot. DJ-Pink Slip
Forum Rules Ok, so you might have noticed that there's been a few changes around the GTA3 area. First and foremost, we now have ledbys . Yes, Fuzzy and I are now in charge, and that means that this area is no longer the forum rubbish tip (that honour has been returned to it's rightful owner, the Recycle Bin ). It took a lot of work and collaboration between Fuzzy and myself to get this area back to a respectable level, and we're not about to let it get out of control again. Therefore, there are several rules/guidelines that we are putting in place - failure to abide by these will see posts deleted, topics locked and/or binned, and possibly also further disciplinary action from a mod/admin. Post with common sense, and everything will be dandy. We like to have fun, provided it doesn't get out of hand. For any newcomers, I'd suggest reading the GTAForums Rules & Policy before progressing any further. Keep in mind that this is the Gameplay section of GTAF, as opposed to the Modding section. As such, any and all modding questions/discussions/whatever belong in the modding section. Offending topics will be moved, locked or binned, depending on our mood at the time we come across them. Post in the correct area - the areas are fairly self-explanatory. This is the General Discussion forum, so any general talk about the game can go here. If you are having a problem, post in the Troubleshooting forum. Any help you need with gameplay can be obtained in the Gameplay forum and all discussion regarding cheats and/or secrets goes in the Cheats & Tricks forum. Keep discussion on-topic, and post in the correct topic. Search the forum for an existing topic before posting a new one, although please use common sense and don't needlessly bump a topic more than 3 months old. If you do need to start a new topic, use a meaningful title - topics entitled "GTA3" don't indicate much, and may be binned or have the topic title changed (again, this depends on our mood when we come across them). Most importantly, have fun and enjoy your visit here. If you have any problems, don't hesitate to PM either Fuzzy or myself. cartelpimp
Frequently Asked Questions Here's an updated version of the old FAQ, which has been locked and unpinned. We'll try and keep it updated, which shouldn't be too much work seeing as GTA3 is now 5+ years old. Let's lay some groundrules first though. Do NOT refute the information given here, unless you have undeniable proof that it is wrong, which you're not likely to have. Furthermore, please keep discussion here to a minimum, and most importantly, ON TOPIC. Off-topic posts WILL be deleted, NO exceptions. At the time I wrote this, the entire GTA3 area was one big garbage heap. It took a lot of work to get it to a respectable state, and I'm not about to let that work go to waste. If you have a question, make sure you read the list in its entirety before asking. Question Answer What's the player's name in GTA3? In GTA3, Rockstar made no mention of what the player's real name was - at the time, he was meant to represent YOU. However, when SA was released, he made an appearance, and was referred to as Claude. Some people believe that he is the GTA2 character named Claude Speed, but there is no proof of that they are the same person, so officially, it's just Claude. Why doesn't Claude talk? Again, there's several theories about this. One of the most common ones is that Catalina actually shot him in the throat at the start of GTA3. However, this appears unlikely given the references made regarding Claude in SA - CJ frequently refers to him as a "dumb mute" and a "snake without a tongue", indicating that he simply cannot talk. How do I fly the Dodo? Try the Dodo Flying FAQ linked on this page. It covers both the PS2 and PC versions. X-Box users will just have to work out which buttons correspond, which isn't that hard. Why are there no bikes in GTA3? The main reason for this is that Rockstar were on a schedule to get GTA3 released, and simply didn't have the time to code a physics engine to deal with bikes. Rockstar attempted to explain it away in Liberty City Stories (LCS) - there was a bike banning petition sponsored by Maibatsu cars (see this thread). You can play GTA3 with bikes with GTA: Liberty City, which is basically a total conversion of VC into GTA3. Where's the Maibatsu Monstrosity? Only in the commercials on the in-game radio, I'm afraid. This was done to poke fun at the SUV craze, and is not a real vehicle in the game. Where is the "Full-wing Dodo", and can I fly it or shoot it down? The "Full-wing Dodo" can be seen flying around the north side of Portland and the mountains of Shoreside. It cannot be flown, and is generally more of a scenery object. For all practical purposes it's not solid, however a well-placed rocket will blow it up, giving you an automatic 4 wanted stars. What was changed as a result of 9/11? Not as much as most people seem to think. All that was edited were the police car colors, and a few lines of text/PED dialouge.Note, illspirit heard this straight from Adam Davidson, lead analyst at Rockstar NY, so it is fact, and not merely my opinion. Where can I find Mr. Whoopee? The best place to find the elusive ice cream truck is in the area around the Columbian's mansion. It's a rather random thing, so you may have to drive around the area for a while before it shows up. Also, if you do enough firefighter missions, you'll run across one eventually. Then again, you could also just keep the one from that El Burro mission "I Scream, You Scream". How do I beat *insert mission name here*? Well, there are just too many missions to go over here. Try gamefaqs.com, Demarest's GTA3 Walkthrough, or G-Unleashed (see the pane on the left of the page). Also, don't hesistate to request help in the Gameplay Forum, AFTER searching that forum. Where is the fourth island? There is no real fourth island. The closest thing to it would be the area commonly referred to as "Ghost Town", which in reality is nothing more than the part used in the opening cutscene. If you want to see it anyway, just fly a Dodo north, over the mountains in SSV, and try to follow the road on the map which appears to go through the blocked off tunnels. However, even if you get there, you will find that none of the buildings or ground there are solid. Also, if you continue flying north, you will see a few of the programmers names embeded in the map. They don't do anything special, they're pretty much the designer's way of signing their work. How do I get some action from the hookers? First, get yourself pretty much any car that's not an emergency vehicle. You also need to have a little bit of money. Then just pull up next to one of them, wait for them to get in, and drive to a secluded area. Finding hookers is easiest at night too, by the way.The Australian version of the game is missing hooker interaction. On PC, you can re-enable it by changing your PC's regional settings (in the Windows Control Panel) to say that you live in the USA. How many different versions of GTA3 are there, and what's different about them? There are 4 different versions, although only really 3 different EXEs (for PC) - they are the standard US version, the German version and the French version. The Australian version is actually the same as the US version, although when set up on an Australian PC, it will disable interaction with hookers. The German and French versions both have "gore" removed/downgraded, and are basically the same - the only difference is that the German version is less "gory" than the French. How do I get the gangs to like me again? Well, to put it simply, you don't. The only way to do so involves editing the games data files - discussion about this (and all other modding) goes in the GTAF Modding Section. Who is, and where can I find a character named Darkel? Darkel is a character who was originally intended to give you the Rampage missions. In the end, the game's makers felt that they liked the skull-icon system better, and removed him from the game. The model and graphics files are still in the game however, as well as the actor who portrayed him's name in the credits. The graphics are just there because the makers didn't feel like wasting time to remove them. The voice credits are still there because the actor still did the work, regardless of the fact the character was cut later. I've heard something about a character named "Novy" - who is that? Novy is similar to Darkel in that he was a player model still left in the game files, but is otherwise unused in normal gameplay. Find out more about Novy at Ka-BOOM's site. Why are there no interiors in GTA3? There are no VC-style interiors in GTA3 (due to differences in the game engines), but there are several buildings you can still enter:Salvatore's mansion The 2 Ammunations The 3 subway stations The men's bathroom in Belleville Park The [email protected] Internet Cafe An empty store with a staircase in it (on Staunton Island) How do I listen to my own music in GTA3? Your songs must be in mp3 format first. Then, simply place them in the mp3 folder in your GTA3 directory (C:\Program File\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto III\mp3 by default). To hear them in-game, scroll through the radio stations until you get to the MP3 Player (after Chatterbox FM). How can I get to the other islands early? There's a few ways to do it, but most require cheating (these can be discussed in the Cheats & Tricks forum). There is one pretty easy way it can be done without cheating, and it involves jumping between two girders on the broken Callahan Bridge - it can be seen best in this video (1.6MB) made by Demarest.Once you are on Staunton, you can get to SSV through the tunnels because they are open (as long as Staunton is locked). So many people have contributed to this FAQ that it's simply impossible to name them all. Anyways, I'd still like to give a few shout-outs: First and foremost, to illspirit - he compiled the original list of questions, which formed the basis of my version. Demarest - the unrivalled king of GTA3. His knowledge of this game is unmatched, and I've learnt plenty about it (and other things) from him. Claude94 - for the list of "interiors". Everyone who's ever asked a question or supplied information. Rockstar - for making GTA3, the best of all the GTA games. Without it, this FAQ wouldn't have even existed. And last but not least, to Fuzzy Juzzy - for sticking with me during this update. It's been tedious, but I think it's been worth it. Enjoy .
